Aston Martin - Tech Magazine India

To celebrate the 25th James Bond film – “No Time to Die”, the carmaker has launched two exclusive 007 special editions of the Aston Martin Vantage and DBS Superleggera.

No Time To Die will be released around the world in November 2020, showcasing no less than four iconic Aston Martin sports cars: the iconic DB5; the classic Aston Martin V8; the brand’s latest super GT, DBS Superleggera; and the outstanding Aston Martin Valhalla – the forthcoming mid-engined hypercar.

Both special editions are being offered in limited numbers to buyers, carefully designed and crafted by the experts in Aston Martin’s bespoke division: Q by Aston Martin.

“Creating a 007 Edition is always an exciting challenge as we work to develop and style a car that embodies the legend of James Bond. It is an honor to apply carefully judged 007-inspired styling to our sports cars, which gives our customers the opportunity to own a unique piece of both cinematic and automotive history.”

The Vantage 007 Edition

The first of the two models is the Vantage 007 Edition, inspired by the original Aston Martin V8 which made its 007 debut in The Living Daylights in 1987 and also features in No Time to Die. The film shows James Bond uncovering the car from his personal lock-up in London.

The latest car offers unique exterior styling treatments including a bespoke mesh grille with chrome bezel that represents the look of classic V8. Other styling specifics involve a dashed yellow diffuser, inspired by the hazard stripes on the film car’s rockets. The Vantage 007 Edition will also be delivered with a set of “The Living Daylights” influenced limited edition skis and ski racks – referencing the ‘winterised’ V8 saloon from the film. How exciting is that!

The car will be delivered in authentic Cumberland Grey exterior paint color, while the interior will be presented in obsidian black leather and dark chrome with 007 branding mounted to the center console of the cars equipped with a manual gearbox. All the cars carry another film reference on the sun visors in the form of an embroidered radio station frequency: 96.60 (FM), the Russian police frequency Bond used to aid his escape in ‘The Living Daylights’.

The seats themselves display a distinctive heritage fluting reminiscent of that seen in the V8, along with the carbon fibre seat backs and, in an especially comprehensive nod to the 1980s film, the design of the cello ‘f holes’ influenced by the memorable cello chase scene starring James Bond (Timothy Dalton) and Kara Milovy (Maryam D’Abo). You’ll even get a laser-etched gadget plaque that pays tribute to the film car weapons.

Just 100 units of the Vantage 007 Edition will be manufactured worldwide.

The second unique 007 edition, DBS Superleggera, is strictly limited to just 25 production cars available worldwide and with the same specification as the muscular DBS Superleggera featured in the upcoming film, the car has a suitable road presence.

This car continues to be powered by a twin-turbocharged 5.2-litre V12 engine producing 715bhp of grunt and 900Nm of torque.

The DBS Superleggera 007 edition offers a range of styling enhancements and features such as Ceramic Grey exterior paint with the roof, mirror caps, splitter, diffuser, and rear Aeroblade II featured in black tinted carbon fibre.

The DBS Superleggera 007 Edition, heading inside, gets black leather upholstery with red streaks on the seats and 007 branding on the door cards, armrest buckle badge, and on the rear subwoofer cover.

The DBS Superleggera 007 Edition is currently on offer separately with a recommended retail price from RRP £279,025 (Rs 2.75 crore) and the Vantage 007 Edition with a recommended retail price from RRP £161,000 (Rs 1.59 crore). The first deliveries are to start in Q1 2021.
