Several reports have been stating the fact that IFA which is held in Berlin every year, has been cancelled in the year 2020 due to the severe covid-19 pandemic outbreak. However, it is being said that the show will take place on the aforementioned dates.

The authorities in Berlin (Germany) have prohibited gathering of more than 5000 people for any event. This is barely anything when compared to the massive 2,45,000 footfall in the year 2019. IFA is the second major annual technology meet that happens in Europe after the Mobile World Congress. The current prohibition on events in Berlin will of lifted on October 24, which is past the IFA scheduled for 4-9th September 2020.

In a series of social media tweets, the organizers announced that it is not necessary that IFA has to be cancelled this year. The organizers are in constant talks with companies and vendors to introduce a new format of the show. The new physical format of the show will also be able to integrate virtual platforms for live and digital launches and experiences. Several reveal events could ve help online.

Additionally, the organizers also mentioned the innovative format which is going to be the focus this year, however, there are no more details regarding this. It will be interesting to see what sort of approach the manufacturers and tech companies take to introduce new products in the market when people will choose to stay home most of the time for safety reasons.
