OPPO A12: Is it the Best Smartphone at the 10K price point?

0

The A12 is Oppo’s latest entry-level offering in the Indian market. It comes in different combinations – 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM and 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM and is equipped with a Dual Rear Camera. The rear panel has a 3D diamond blaze design which is very appealing and as Oppo says, it will add an edge to your style! This phone is available in Blue and Black colour variants. The device has gone on sale starting June 10 and is available both in offline stores and on online e-commerce platforms. The price for the 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM base variant is INR 9,990 and for the 4GB RAM + 64GB  ROM variant is INR 11,990.

Is it worth it?

CAMERA:

The Oppo A12 comes with a Dual Rear Camera setup that sports a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. Further, two more notable features of the camera are its AI beautification that uses AI to beautify a person’s skin tone, age, and gender and a Dazzle colour mode that preserves natural colours in photos. It also has a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies.

POWER:

Oppo A12 is powered by octa-core MediaTek Helio P35 (MT6765) processor. It runs on ColorOS 6.1.2 based on Android 9. It houses a decent 4230 mAh non-removable battery which claims to deliver up to 8 hours of online streaming in a single charge.

DESIGN & DISPLAY:

The phone comes with a 6.22” HD+ display (720 x 1520 pixels) and a 19:9 aspect ratio. It has a waterdrop notch design and is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The phone measures 155.9 x 75.5 x 8.3mm and weighs 165 grams.

The Oppo A12 offers two ways to unlock the smartphone – a fingerprint sensor that is placed at the back of the phone and an AI face unlock feature.

Oppo does offer considerably decent features in the A12 but in our opinion, it is a little late in the game as other manufacturers are offering tri/quad-camera setup with better features at the same 10K price point. Here are some other alternatives to the Oppo A12 that you can consider:
