The much-anticipated SUV is finally here. On India’s 74th Independence Day-15 August 2020, the company will present the latest version of the Thar.
In terms of daily comforts, the latest Thar can deliver much better than the outgoing one. The all-new Thar is coming with Technology, Comfort, and Safety features without compromising on the Thar’s core promise – its renowned off-road capability and iconic design.
It would attract not just the die-hard Thar lovers but also all those people who have always wished to drive an iconic vehicle with all the bells and whistles of a contemporary SUV.
The interior of the new Thar is set to deliver a bunch of upgrades as compared to its predecessors. According to sources, it will come with a touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, cruise control, a color multi-info display, rear parking camera, and front power windows. The standard safety package will contain dual airbags, ABS, and rear parking sensors while it is also anticipated that a factory-fitted, removable hard-top will be available.
For the first time ever, the new Thar will be equipped with various engine-gearbox options, including petrol and automatic. A new 2.0-litre petrol engine from Mahindra’s MStallion family will be introduced, which will have a 6-speed manual as standard and an automatic option. However, it is anticipated that diesel-powered models will be the mainstay of the range. The diesel engine would be the nearly-140hp variant of Mahindra’s 2.2-litre mHawk unit. The 6-speed manual gearbox will be standard, while the Aisin-sourced 6-speed automatic torque converter will also be available. Both engines would be equipped with a four-wheel drive system.
Mahindra and Mahindra have released a teaser video that gives a glimpse of India’s iconic off-roader’s new avatar. Pricing is expected to surpass Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
On August 15th, 2020, the all-new Thar will be unveiled via a live webcast on the official Mahindra Thar website (www.auto.mahindra.com/suv/thar) and its social media handles.
