Flipkart issues clarification over cancelled iPhone 13 orders

If you’ve been on the internet in the past week, you know that major e-commerce brands like Flipkart and Amazon were running advertisement campaigns for their festive sales. The Flipkart Big Billion Days sale and Amazon’s Great Indian Festival sales offered major discounts on major products like electronics, smartphones, apparel, and more. We had run multiple stories about the discounts offered by these sales highlighting Apple’s iPhone lineup. In our iPhone discount story, we shared that the iPhone 13 was available at a price below Rs 50K on Flipkart, which was surely a surprising deal. However, as the first day of the sale passed, users started complaining that their orders for the iPhone 13 was canceled after the payment was made which disappointed a lot of people. This mishap by Flipkart spread like wildfire across social media as more and more shared their sadness over getting their orders canceled. Now, Flipkart has issued a clarification.

Flipkart’s official statement

Flipkart issued an official statement to India Today Tech and accepted that some iPhone 13 orders were indeed canceled due to “anomalies”. The platform shared that nearly 70 percent of the iPhone orders placed across cities including Siliguri, Guntur, and Gorakhpur were delivered successfully by sellers. The company claims that only “a minor fraction of orders” were canceled by the sellers due to ‘unforeseen issues. In conclusion, Flipkart shared that they are “a customer first e-commerce marketplace and always ensures that customers’ interests are protected. As a customer-focused e-commerce marketplace, we encourage sellers to prioritize the customers’ orders and strive to keep them delighted with their service.”

Even after the clarification, it is still not known why exactly the orders were canceled by Flipkart. Whereas, some users still do not have an update about their order. If you have ordered an iPhone 13 at the discounted price from Flipkart during the Big Billion Days sale, you will soon know if the order has been processed or not. The unbelievable discounts offered during festive sales are an opportunity for people waiting to get the devices from their wishlist. If the orders placed during these sales get canceled then it’s a breach of trust among customers.

iPhone 12 and 13 receive major price cuts after iPhone 14 launch

Apple recently introduced its latest lineup of iPhones consisting of the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. As a result, the prices of the previous iPhone lineup have taken a nosedive. Each year, a marginal number of potential buyers wait out for the launch of the latest iPhone to buy the previous generation iPhones at a reduced price. Well, the time is now for people looking to buy the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 in 2022!

iPhone 13 price

The standard variant of the iPhone 13 was launched at Rs79,900 on Apple’s online store in India. As of now, the device has received a price cut of 10,000 bringing the iPhone 13 price to 69,900. Users can also avail of further discounts using Apple’s trade-in option at its official website. While some users prefer to buy their Apple devices from the official Apple website, others do not mind using E-Commerce platforms as they offer better deals. When it comes to Flipkart and Amazon, both platforms have announced an upcoming sale that will further reduce the iPhone 13 price. The updated iPhone 13 and 13 mini pricing is as follows:

  • iPhone 13 mini 128GB – Rs 64,900
  • iPhone 13 mini 256GB – Rs 74,900

The device was originally launched at the price of Rs 79,900, which is currently the price of the iPhone 14. The nearly two-year-old device now starts at 59,900 marking a 20K price drop from its original cost. Whereas, the 256GB variant of the iPhone 12 is now available at Rs 74,900.

Apple iPhone 14 series launch: What to expect from the latest line-up

We’re just two days away from the Apple ‘Far Out’ event which is expected to introduce the next generation of iPhone to the world. This year-round, a significant upgrade is anticipated amongst fans with the latest iPhone 14 line-up. While leaks have been all over the internet about the upcoming devices months before any official announcements, there naturally has been no confirmation about the same from Apple, only fueling the hype more & more. Read below to learn about what is expected from the latest iPhone 14 series:

iPhone 14: Latest A16 chip

Reports on the internet suggest that the iPhone 14, like its predecessors, will be receiving a processing chip upgrade. Apple will be introducing its latest powerhouse processor, the A16 chip; however, leaks also suggest that only the pro variant of the iPhone 14 will feature the newest chip, whereas the regular variants will opt for an A15 Bionic chip, the same as the iPhone 13. The A15 Bionic could be clocked higher than last year’s devices.

iPhone 14: Goodbye Mini

Leaks suggest that Apple will be ditching the mini variant of the latest iPhone 14. While the mini line-up has had vocal supporters ever since its inception with the iPhone 12, there simply haven’t been the sales that suggest it is a successful outing for the tech giant. Apple is expected to release two 6.1-inch devices and the pro line-up, which will be 6.7-inches.

iPhone 14: Finally, a bigger camera?

Apple has long stuck around with the 12MP wide-angle main camera, which is beloved by many fans around the world. However, it looks like the company is now opting for a much larger 48MP sensor. While a welcoming change, it is rumoured that the significant camera upgrade will be reserved for the pro variants, similar to the chipset upgrade.

iPhone 14: Notch upgrade

Apple has long been criticized for its standard notch, while the competing Android smartphones have long opted for a smaller one. It looks like the company is now ready for a significant change with its notch design and will now feature a sleeker pill-shaped notch. However, this change is currently being reserved for the pro models of the iPhone 14 series, and the regular iPhone 14s will sport the classic notch.

The Return of Colours in Smartphones

The father of Canadian photojournalism, Ted Grant, once quoted, “When you photograph people in colour, you photograph their clothes, but when you photograph people in black and white, you photograph their souls!” The quote is true to every word, as the colour duo, black and white, is said to be more realistic as it contains all colours, and at the same time, it excludes all, but we all know in which era we’re living and how much colours are important in today’s times. Then, why would our gadget-makers stay behind?

Colour plays a vital role in the world we live in and has always been a prominent aspect of human life. However, the gadget making companies took a lot of time to put coloured clothes on their products. Since the mid-50s, we have been witnessing coloured devices in the form of telephones, radios, speakers, etc. But later on, in the mid-90s, colours moved a little away from us, at least in the gadget sector, due to several concerns and again put on a band of bland colours, including black, white, grey and sometimes blue.

The phones in the early days mainly came in one or two colours, offering limited options for the customer as the companies were bound not to manufacture phones with particular colours as each geography in the world has colours for good and bad omens. Also, customers are treated like a god in most countries, and companies have to show sensitivity to people’s sentiments before launching a global variant. Though in recent times, everything has changed and now gadget makers are competing fiercely over coloured gadgets.

The First Step

Since Apple launched its first iPhone in 2007, whatever happens in the world of tech is directly co-related to Apple. It’s more like when other companies do things they seem ordinary to us, but it becomes cool when Apple tries the same with their products. Apple unveiled the iPhone 5C in 2013 and brought life to their phones with 4-colour variants – banana yellow, bubble gum pink, kiwi green, and Slush Puppie blue.

Since then, almost every smartphone manufacturing company has become colour obsessed. Being one of the top smartphone manufacturing companies globally, Apple has always come up with impressive marketing ideas that attract consumers. For instance, every time someone buys an iPhone with PRODUCT RED colour, they contribute to the Global Fund’s support of AIDS programmes and COVID‑19 Response.

The company has been collaborating with RED for the last 15 years and has raised nearly $270 million since the inception of the idea, including a $21 million donation to the Global Fund’s COVID‑19. Recently, Vivo launched India’s first colour changing smartphone Vivo V23 & V23 Pro. The smartphone has Fluorite AG glass that changes colour when exposed to sunlight and other sources of artificial UV rays.

Along with smartphones, various gadgets boast colours nowadays, and the list includes earphones, headphones, speakers, tablets, smart home gadgets, smartwatches, power banks, and portable mouses. The arrival of various colours in devices made consumers happy as it opened more options. When smartphones were introduced to the world, companies wanted to play it safe, so they only experimented with neutral colours.

Samsung was one of the first who introduced smartphones with colourful backs, but they created a kind of blue and red for their LTE-A phone that is fresh and new to people, which helped them stand apart. Nowadays, people are more open to trying different colours than in the earlier days when people were not welcoming towards various colours, and it allows companies to come up with more colourful designs.

Why are smartphones coming in a coloured back panel?

The younger generation prefers to flaunt colours in every way possible, and all over the world, these fellas are very casual towards new things, especially gadgets. Also, when you can have a smartphone or gadget in your favourite colours, which adds some joy to your life, why would you go for the neutral ones! The smartphone maker understands this mindset and decides to implement the same.

Polycarbonate back panels are usually considered the cheapest material as most mid-range smartphones come with them. Glass has been the preferred smartphone material in the past couple of years, and most flagship smartphones come with glass panels. The glass-panelled back on the smartphones looks premium, and it can be painted in different colours, which paves the way for smartphone makers.

The brighter and gradient colour panelled back in the smartphones was popular among Chinese smartphone makers, but the world accepted it when global players such as Apple and Samsung launched their phones with coloured panel backs. In the future, we might witness something more advanced in this back panel sector where we could get an option to change the colours according to the touch.

Apple is planning to bring subscription-based service for iPhones

Last year, Google launched its Pixel Pass service in the US, a subscription-based service that costs $45 per month for the Pixel 6 and $55 per month for the Pixel 6 Pro. The service lets the subscriber have the respective phones along with YouTube Premium with ad-free watching, YouTube Music Premium with ad-free listening and 200 GB of Google One cloud storage.

Now, following the path of Google, Apple is planning to start a subscription-based service for iPhones and iPads where users will pay a fixed fee each month and get an iPhone (of course, the one they wants to have) with free upgrades. The service will also allow subscribers to change their iPhones with the new models every time a new iPhone is announced.

Currently, the Cupertino-based tech giant offers various services for the customer benefits, such as paying the phone amount in different instalments of 12, 24 or 36 months. The existing Apple ID account holders can bundle up this subscription for free to get Apple Care and Apple One Services, including Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, iCloud+, Apple News+, and Apple Fitness+.

The subscription service is not confirmed by the company yet, but according to the trusted sources, Apple might launch the service by the end of 2022 or early into 2023. The service would initially start with iPhones, followed by Apple’s hardware lineup, including iPads, MacBooks and Apple Watch. The service amount is not yet unveiled but it would be around 20$-40$.

Apple Hypes Launch Event With Invite Carrying AR Easter Egg

Finally, the suspense is over, and the date is revealed. On Tuesday, Apple finalised that it is hosting the September event next week. However, it is still not confirmed by Apple that the release of the iPhone 13 will happen in that event or not. But as per the hints given by Apple in its invite that bought us with the augmented reality AR experience, we can make out that the launch will be a big one.

Since last year, to boost up its announcements, a record of offering AR Easter eggs has been made by Apple. The Tim- cook led team Has raised the platform and advised that the upcoming Apple iPhone inauguration should be with AR experience this time, which will take the iPhone lovers to the next level experience.

If you have an iPhone or iPad, you can go to the Apple events webpage and click on the September 14 invite. You can experience the recent AR Easter egg. In that, you can see an AR Apple logo that will come into view over your camera viewfinder. You can keep in motion your Apple device to see the “9. 14” inauguration date and can also zoom in to see the landscape behind it.

The logo uses Apple’s AR kit that is already installed on the iPhone and iPad. The launch video also has sound effects powered by spatial audio with the song “weather” by WDL. This AR experience could be embossed if the LiDAR sensor is present in the new Apple iPhone models.

Spotlight of the event.

An AR logo has been made by apple that was shown on its event webpage.

The logo takes us to a lake landscape where we can visualise the “9.14” release date.

Reportedly, iPhone 13 Series shall provide the new AR feel.

iPhone 13 Might Release On THIS Date! Check Out

September 2021 could also be named as Month of Apple as we can expect a lot of new Apple products to launch anytime this month. In this list, we have the Apple Watch 7, iPhone 13 and Airpods 3.

If we look back at Apple’s previous launch, we can make out that this release may be displayed on the 4th Friday of September. That would be September 24th, which states that the pre-orders could be starting on September 17th. However, keeping the COVID-19 pandemic in mind, the event will probably be completely virtual.

A survey of US iPhone owners suggests that 44% of the Apple owners are waiting to buy the new iPhone 13. Keeping in mind the high demand, Apple has reportedly hired more workers, and Apple suppliers are ready to raise bonuses to keep enough people working.

In such a situation, there are possibilities that the eagerness of those who are waiting for it can be lowered down if there’s a delay. According to the rumours, the new iPhone may have upgraded cameras and displays. It is also very strongly in whispers that the name of the new iPhone could not be iPhone 13 but iPhone 12s.

There has been a lot of changes in the looks and characteristics of the iPhone 12, which was released last year. So this time, the changes might not be very drastic. So expecting not too much could be better. Whatever the rumours might suggest, but the real picture will appear only after the official release of the iPhone 13.

There are a lot of other Apple products also expected to release this year, but for this one, it is best to say to wait till September ends.
