In the first half of 2020, like each year we saw Samsung and OnePlus launch their flagship devices – S20 series and 8 series respectively. We also saw the Xiaomi-Realme battle continue with affordable and mid-range launches along with a few other brands that made a comeback. Generally speaking, it was a decent year for smartphones although brands confronted difficulties due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Moving to the second half, July saw some of the much-awaited launches like the OnePlus Nord, Asus ROG Phone 3, Lenovo Legion, Vivo X50 series among others and we do expect more launches since the restrictions are now lifted. In any case, we’re hoping all the brands have an online-only launch event. While there are numerous smartphones expected to launch in this year, here’s a rundown of upcoming smartphones expected to launch in the coming days:
Oppo Reno 4 Pro
The Reno 4 Pro is already launched in China and is set to launch in India on July 31st. Oppo tweeted that the Oppo Reno 4 Pro will feature a 6.5-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate and “3D borderless sense screen.” The display offers an almost bezel-less experience with a screen-to-body ratio of 92.01 percent. The company has yet to disclose its other features for the Indian market including the localized ones.
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series
The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series is set to unveil on August 5th but ahead of its launch the details and specifications have been leaked. As per reports, the Galaxy Note 20 might have 6.7-inch Super AMOLED flat display with 60Hz refresh rate. It will be powered by the 2.7GHz Exynos 990 octa-core SoC, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage. It is also reported that it might have a triple camera setup with a 12-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 64-megapixel image sensor with 3x optical zoom lens. At the front, the phone might have a 10-megapixel selfie. It will include a 4,300mAh battery with fast charging support.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2
This foldable flagship will also be announced alongside the Galaxy Note 20 series on August 5th. As per sources, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 might have a 7.7-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and will be powered by the Snapdragon 865 paired with 16Gb of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. It might have a combined battery of 4,365mAh. Rumors suggest that Samsung might use the S20+ camera module with its three cameras: main, telephoto and ultra-wide.
Samsung Galaxy M41 smartphone runs on the Android v9.0 (Pie) operating system. The phone is powered by 2.3 GHz, Quad-core, Cortex A73 + 1.7 GHz, Quad-core, Cortex A53 processor. It runs on the Samsung Exynos 9 Octa 9609 Chipset. Samsung Galaxy M41 smartphone has an OLED display. The screen has a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and 409 PPI pixel density. On the camera front, the buyers get a 24 MP Primary Camera, and on the rear, there’s a 64MP + 12MP + 5MP camera with features like Digital Zoom, Auto Flash, Face detection, Touch to focus. It is backed by a 6800 mAh battery.
Honor 9A smartphone will launch in India on July 31, an Amazon listing reveals. It will have a 6.30-inch touchscreen display and will be powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P22 (MT6762R) processor. It comes with 3GB of RAM 64GB of inbuilt storage (expandable up to 512GB via microSD card). The Honor 9A runs Android 10 and is powered by a 5000mAh non-removable battery. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Honor 9A on the rear packs a 13-megapixel primary camera, a second 5-megapixel camera and a third 2-megapixel camera. It sports an 8-megapixel camera on the front for selfies.
Realme C15 will launch in Indonesia on the 28th of July and is rumored to be launched in August 2020. The only specification that Realme has disclosed is the 6000mAh battery and 18W fast charging support. However, the C15 is expected to run on Android 10 OS and is tipped to have a 6.5-inch display. It will be powered by a 2.3 GHz Octa-core MediaTek Helio G35 Processor paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. As the image reveals, the smartphone will have a quad-camera setup and a fingerprint scanner at the back. It also has a waterdrop notch that houses the front camera and slight bezel on the bottom.
Infinix Note 7
Infinix Note 7 smartphone has a 6.95-inch display and runs on the Android v10 (Q) operating system. The phone is powered by MediaTek Helio G70 Chipset. It has 6 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage. On the camera front, it has a 16 MP Primary Camera and on the rear, there’s a 48MP + 2MP + 2MP camera with features like Fixed Focus. It is backed by a 5000 mAh battery and supports Super charging 3.0
Redmi 9 and 9A
Xiaomi Redmi 9 comes with a 6.3-inch LCD display. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. There is a huge 5,000mAh battery however, there is no fast charging support. For the camera, the smartphone features a pair of 13MP and 5MP rear lenses and an 8MP front camera.
Xiaomi Redmi 9A runs on the Android v10 (Q) operating system. The phone is powered by MediaTek Helio G25 Chipset. It has 2 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage. On the camera front, it has a 5 MP Primary Camera and on the rear, there’s a 13 MP camera with features like Digital Zoom, Auto Flash, Face detection, Touch to focus. It is backed by a 5000 mAh battery. Expected Price: INR 6,390/-
It is expected that Xiaomi might rebrand its 9C as the Poco C3 and launch it soon in the Indian market. Since the C3 will be a rebranded version of the Redmi 9C the specifications will most likely remain the same i.e. a 6.53-inch drop dot display, powered by MediaTek Helio G35 Chipset paired with 3GB RAM and 64GB internal storage and backed by 5000mAh battery. As for the camera, it might have a 13 MP AI triple camera setup at the back.
