Introducing the Poco M6 Pro 5G – India’s Most Affordable 5G Device

Poco has officially unveiled its latest offering, the Poco M6 Pro 5G, aptly dubbed the “5G disrupter,” in the Indian market. The cutting-edge smartphone narrowly outpaced Xiaomi’s Redmi 12 5G, securing its position as the most cost-effective 5G device in the country featuring Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chip.

The Poco M6 Pro shares the same internal components as the Redmi 12 5G, cleverly repackaged within an ingeniously tweaked chassis proudly adorned with the Poco branding. The true allure lies in its remarkably affordable pricing structure. At an enticing starting price of just Rs 10,999 (for the 4GB/64GB variant), the Poco M6 Pro 5G offers exceptional value.

Specs and Features

The Poco M6 Pro 5G boasts an elegant glass back design and is offered in two stylish colours: Forest Green and Power Black. Additionally, this phone boasts IP53 dust and splash resistance, further enhancing its durability. A conveniently placed side-mounted fingerprint reader facilitates biometric authentication. While it offers an IR blaster and a headphone jack, its audio capabilities are limited to mono-speaker output.

On the front, users will be treated to a visually captivating 6.79-inch LCD display featuring an impressive 1080p resolution and an ultra-smooth 90Hz refresh rate. A discrete hole punch cut-out, artfully centred, houses an 8MP selfie camera. On the flip side, the Poco M6 Pro 5G flaunts a dual-camera setup consisting of a 50MP primary lens alongside a 2MP depth sensor.

Driving the Poco M6 Pro 5G’s performance is the highly efficient 4nm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chip, complemented by a robust 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support over USB Type-C. The package includes a 22.5W charger for user convenience. Operating this technological marvel is MIUI 14, based on Android 13, with the promise of two major OS updates and up to three years of security updates, ensuring an optimized and secure user experience for an extended period.

Price and Availability

The 4GB/64GB variant is set at Rs 10,999, while the top-tier 6GB/128GB version commands a price of Rs 12,999. It is slated for general release on August 9 and will be available exclusively on Flipkart.

Poco X5 5G First Impression – A Value Offering

What happens when consumers in a country are well caught up with tech and understanding the nitty-gritty of smartphone devices? You get smartphone companies fighting each other in offering the best specifications at a competitive price. Ultimately, it’s the end-buyer who benefits from the tech giants competing in the market. The OnePlus 11 and 11R are shining examples of similar phenomena and trickling it down to the midrange to budget section we see a bigger plethora of choices that confuse us.

This is where this new offering by POCO, The POCO X5 5G comes into the picture. Entering at an oversaturated price point between the 15 to 25K range, the POCO X5 5G only further confuses the buyers even more. But that’s what we’re here for! We have been using the POCO X5 5G for a day and here are my first impressions of the device!

Display

The POCO X5 5G features a vivid 6’67-inch FHD+ super AMOLED display which gives users an immersive experience. The display produces some punchy colours without straining the eyes during longer-watching sessions. It features what POCO calls a sunlight display which features high brightness. The 2400 x 1080 FHD+ display gets pretty bright at 1200 nits. It features a 120Hz of refresh rate which gives it that smooth hyperrealistic feel. Overall the display is eye candy!

Design

The back design is pretty much similar to the staple POCO design with its branding up top. It’s a plastic back panel that does not scream premium but can be protected using the in-box transparent cover. It features a 3.5mm headphone jack on top and a USB-C type port at the bottom and the standard volume rockers and lock screen buttons on the side. It features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor that is snappy. It is a lightweight device weighing just 189 Grams and 7.8mm in thickness.

Performance and battery

When it comes to midrange performance, the Snapdragon 695 is a no-brainer chip for companies to go to. This 7nm chipset has proven its prowess in several midrange devices and shines once again in the POCO X5 5G. As the model name suggests, it is a 5G device consisting of 7 5G bands which are more than enough for the current scenario of 5G availability. The X5 I am using is an 8GB/256GB  variant out of which 36GB is occupied by the system. The battery here is 5000mAh which can be juiced up with a 33W charger provided in the box. During my testing, the device juiced up from 33% to 100% in about an hour and fifteen mins which is not bad. It features LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage which is pretty standard for a midrange device.

Camera

The POCO X5 5G comes with a triple camera setup consisting of a 48MP primary lens coupled with an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro camera. The selfie camera is clocked at 13MP. Here are some camera samples –

Conclusion

The Poco X5 5G is a capable device that ticks many boxes and does so effectively. The Snapdragon 695 coupled with a smooth 120Hz display and a capable camera setup makes this device an easy choice for many midrange consumers out there. At 20,999 for the 8/256Gb variant, the POCO X5 5G is one of the best options in the market right now.

Poco M5 launched with Helio G99, 50MP triple camera setup, and more

Poco had taken over the Indian market by storm with the launch of its first device, the Poco F1, in 2018. The brand was then under the leadership of Xiaomi and steered its way to become an independent global brand in 2020. As the years pass by, Poco has focused more on the budget segment bringing in promising features at a cheaper price for the consumer market. With the launch of the Poco M5 series, the company is yet again offering competiti9ve specs at a competitive price. Check out all the details about the latest offering by Poco, the Poco M5 and M5s, below:

Poco M5

The higher variant in the M5 series comes with an impressive 6.58” LCD Full HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate coupled with a 240Hz touch sampling rate. Aimed for gamers, the device houses an Helio G99 chipset built on the 6nm process technology. The Helio G99 sports two Cortex-A76 CPU cores running at 2.2GHz and six Cortex-A55 units at 2.0GHz. The Poco M5 houses a triple camera setup comprising a 50MP primary shooter, a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro lens. Whereas on the front, the device sports an 8MP selfie camera. It packs a 5000mAh battery with an 18W charging unit. The M5 is priced at Rs. 12,499 and Rs. 14,499 for 4GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB variants, respectively.

Poco M5s

The Poco M5s comes with a few welcoming changes as opposed to the standard variant. The device sports a 6.43-inch HD+ AMOLED display, an upgrade to the POCO M5’s LCD display. However, the screen is limited to a 60Hz refresh rate. The quad-camera setup sees an upgrade too as it comes with a 64MP mains sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. There is also an 8MP ultrawide camera along with two 2MP lenses for macro and depth sensing, respectively. The device houses a Mediatek Helio G95 SoC and a 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging capabilities. Both the newly launched devices will run with Android 12-based MIUI 13 out f the box.

POCO F4 – Is the Legendary Series Back With a Bang?

POCO is back with its disruptive F series with an addition of POCO F4. Here I have a 6.67-inch F4 smartphone which comes under the category of budget smartphone, and I used this device for quite some time to have a say on it, so here we go.

On the front, you get a 120Hz Super AMOLED display with corning gorilla glass 5 protection. The colour contrast is lovely, and the image reproduction is impressive compared to other AMOLED display phones. Poco F4 has a glass back, and for the ports and buttons, you have speakers on both ends, a type-c charging port, a sim card tray and no headphone jack. Also, you get an IR blaster, which works as a universal remote.

Getting to the technical stuff, this one has a 12GB RAM plus 3 GB expandable, with a 256Gb storage space and runs on Android 12. Poco F4 packs a Snapdragon 870 octa-core processor, so it’s quite good for heavy gaming. I played BGMI on this, and I have no complaints at all. It runs without lags and gives minimum heating issues. You can play BGMI at the highest setting, i.e. HDR with extreme frame rates. This is one of the best phones for gaming at this price range, hands down.

The camera has a triple camera setup with a 64MP primary sensor and a 20Mp front camera. You can record 4K videos at 60fps, which is quite incredible. The camera setup is very similar to Redmi Note 11T pro plus, which was launched in China.

The battery of the Poco F4 is a bit average at 4500mAh, but the 67W fast charging makes up for it. The battery will last long for a day with a single charge if you’re using it for calling and social media.

Overall, F4 is a performance-oriented smartphone that does not disappoint. It will be priced below 30,000. Games are good, the camera is good, performance is good. For a detailed review, you have to read our magazine. Yes, please switch to Exhibit Magazine and know tech closely.
