Shivesh Bhatia | Top 100 | Influncex’20

Ex: Tell us about a change you’ve seen in the digital blogging space since you started out your journey? How has this space evolved?

Shivesh: I have seen the influencer and blogging industry completely revolutionize in the past couple of years. When I started off, Instagram was already providing a space to experiment with newer content. Eventually, it bloomed like anything. The digital blogging space enabled brands to have real time engagement and simultaneously increase brand awareness. This space literally becomes more innovative every single day now. We have wonderfully transitioned from static content to more engaging and more dynamic content. People have really started to believe in influencer marketing and it is the new ‘in thing’ in the digital marketing industry. I have loved this process because the creative powers have now shifted from the hands of advertising agencies to independent individuals.

Ex: Can you give us an insight into social media platforms that only an Influencer can know?

Shivesh: Often, people have the perception that being an influencer is an easy task. But, churning out content on a constant basis requires endless hours of ideation with my team, planning shoots, researching about newer and more public-friendly content, endless to and fro with brands and organizations, and so much more. We end up not having a 9 to 5 job but one that requires 24 hours of our energies. But at the end of the day, I absolutely love what I do and love creating, so I do not mind this one bit.

Ex: What would be your calling in a parallel universe? (Alternate career options)

Shivesh: I have always loved anything related to mass communication, media, and related aspects. I even enrolled in Indian Institute of Mass Communication after completing my graduation. So, if I didn’t have Bake with Shivesh, I would definitely be a part of the world of Media.

Ex: If you were stranded on an island, what are the 3 gadgets you’d take along?

Shivesh: I’d definitely take my phone, a power-bank, and a lighter to help me start some fires! A technology you wished you’d invented? Air pods, I think? They’re uber cool and have really made life 100% easier and convenient!

Ex: What’s been your favorite encounter with a fan so far? (DMs included!)

Shivesh: There was one time when I had a workshop and a 60 year old very sweet woman came from a distance to meet me. She ended up telling me that I remind her of her grandson and this is by far the sweetest encounter I have ever had with a fan. Social Media is known to expose vulnerabilities, with influencers being at the epicenter.

Ex: How do you deal with the dark side that comes with the medium?

Shivesh: I think Baking is the perfect form of therapy for me. Sometimes, when I need an off from everything, I bake for myself or enjoy some ‘me-time’ with my movies, popcorn, and good food! Social media trolling is seeing an upward rise.

Ex: Do you think this only increases with the popularity of an Influencer? How does one tackle this situation?

Shivesh: Trolling is not limited to influencers with a huge following, it happens with budding bloggers and of course, even with celebrities. The best way to deal with it is to just block out the negativity. In the comments section, even one bad comment can really affect someone. My way is to see the many other positive comments and not allow one to affect me.

Ex: What does success mean to you?

Shivesh: Success to me means always having the opportunity to do what I love and what makes me happy. I feel successful when I post a recipe and I see people instantly trying it out, using the recipe to celebrate occasions and what not!

Ex: Do you think Influencer Marketing is a fad? Where do you see this space in years to come?

Shivesh: Influencer marketing is anything but a fad. It’s the fastest growing space in the digital marketing industry and it promises the greatest ROIs to major organizations. Sure, like every industry, it will take a turn here and there, evolve to become even bigger, but it’s not a fire that can be put out quickly.

Ex: Which is that one dish or cuisine that you haven’t tried yet but are looking forward to?

Shivesh: I really am looking forward to trying some Armenian food! I heard it’s super great and I’d absolutely love to give it a try What do you do to make your content unique from others? I think my style of food photography allows me to make my content unique and appealing. I invest proper time in setting up a particular set for my desserts and give the production process the attention it requires. Besides this, I love how I am able to churn out content on YouTube which has recipes that are super easy yet delicious!

Tanmay:  I’ve been in this community for the past 2 years , people here always had a curiosity of knowing what this is that I do on my PC all the time. With the Internet getting available to almost everyone in the previous years I’ve seen a lot of development here , more people have started to know me, even the ones around me now have a basic idea of what I do.

Ex: Can you give us an insight into social media platforms that only an Influencer can know?

Tanmay:  I don’t think there’s any ‘secret’ that only the influencers know, we are just like the normal crowd, what they know is what we know.

Ex: What would be your calling in a parallel universe? (Alternate career options)

Ex: What’s been your favorite encounter with a fan so far? (DMs included!)

Ex: Social media trolling is seeing an upward rise. Do you think this only increases with the popularity of an Influencer? How does one tackle this situation?

Tanmay:  Yup, surely this increases as the popularity goes up but as i said , believe in yourself , the others dont know what you have gone through to come up at a stage like this , you know you gave your 100% so you stick to it no matter what the haters/trollers say , we have 100 times more supporters and these haters/trollers.

Ex: What does success mean to you?

Tanmay:  When I am happy about what I am doing.

Ex: Which three things does someone starting in the gaming industry need to know?

Tanmay: It might look easy , but you need to know that thousands are already fighting for what you dream to have. You need to develop an extraordinary skill in either Professional or Content making.

Ex: What would you say is the biggest challenge for a gaming influencer?

Tanmay:  The people here in India never consider this as a career , though it has developed in these previous 2-3 years but still they need to know it is just like another JOB.

Somya: Back then it wasn’t, even so, commercialized there weren’t as many brands and influencers as well. So yes I think it’s become more of a profession now and not just one’s passion.

Ex: Can you give us an insight into social media platforms that only an Influencer can know?

Somya: One thing which I think they might not realise from the outside is that it’s not roses all the way. It’s really difficult to shoot, edit and churn out content daily and it takes a lot of commitment.

Ex: What would be your calling in a parallel universe? (Alternate career options)

Somya: If not this then I would have tried my hands on acting.

Ex: What’s been your favorite encounter with a fan so far? (DMs included!)

Sejal Kumar | Fashion | Influncex’20

Ex: Tell us about a change you’ve seen in the digital blogging space since you started out your journey? How has this space evolved?

Sejal: Digital blogging space is constantly growing. Now, people are more accepting of this career path. Space has evolved immensely over the years as now, the audience is aware of the content they want to consume and thus, the creators are putting out as relatable, useful, and entertaining content they can. Earlier I would find it difficult to even explain my profession but now we are getting recognized even in traditional media which feels great!

Ex: A technology you wished you’d invented?

Sejal: Airpods! I think they are such a good device for anyone! Creators especially! I’ve used them in a million different ways to create content

Ex: What’s been your favorite encounter with a fan so far? (DMs included!)

Sejal: On a family trip on the train to Amritsar, this girl figured out which day I was leaving via my stories and somehow even my coach reading the names on the train! She came to our seats and said ‘yes finally found you!’ My grandparents were so shocked and I was too! She had an adorable scrapbook with her with my pictures that I signed and I was in complete awe. BUT thank god this wasn’t a creepy guy, I’ve been careful with my stories since then!

Ex: Social Media is known to expose vulnerabilities, with influencers being at the epicenter. How do you deal with the dark side that comes with the medium?

Sejal: It is not easy. I love my job and I am grateful for everyone that loves my work but there are people who will always want to bring you down. Most of the time, I try to not let the hate get to me. I think taking a break, meditating, and believing in yourself is the only way ahead!

What does success mean to you?

Sejal: A side product of doing something that fulfills me and keeps going every day, even if some days are bad.

Ex: As Fashion-Tech is on the rise, what is your take on this new style of couture? Do you think it’s here to stay?

Sejal: Fashion and Tech are the two things I love. I think it’s a beautiful combination. Yes, it is here to stay. I am continually impressed with how creative people get day by day.

Aashna Shroff | Top 100 | Influncex’20

Ex: Tell us about a change you’ve seen in the digital blogging space since you started out your journey? How has this space evolved?

When I started blogging 6 years ago, the term blogging wasn’t very popular in India back then.It was initially blogs with a lot more written information, which then slowly moved to platforms like Instagram and Facebook for images, and then evolved into longer videos on YouTube and IGTV. When I started, I never thought I’d be creating such videos. This would have to be the biggest change for me.

Ex: Can you give us an insight into social media platforms that only an Influencer can know?

Honestly, I think social media is different for everyone. We all have our different ways of consuming content, we all have our own favourite platform, our own particular time of the day that we like to post, etc. I think the biggest insight would be consistency and interaction.

Ex: If you were stranded on an island, what are the 3 gadgets you’d take along?

my phone, portable Wifi & a power bank

Ex: A technology you wished you’d invented?

I would have said the internet but I can’t imagine being even remotely close to inventing that so Netflix, maybe.

Ex: What’s been your favorite encounter with a fan so far? (DMs included!)

It would have to be the first time someone recognised me in public. She came up to me and brought her mom along too and they both told me how much they love me and what I do. And I was super shy and nervous, but it’s one encounter that I’ll always cherish.

Ex: What does success mean to you?

For me, doing what I love because it would make me happy and being able to make a living out of it, is success for me.

Ex: Do you think Influencer Marketing is a fad? Where do you see this space in years to come?

As a creator myself, Influencer Marketing is pretty much what my job entails. And I see first hand what it can do. If you’re a creator who has an organic following that loves your style/content and truly takes your recommendations seriously, influencer marketing can work wonders for the brands that work with you. So it’s definitely not a fad, and given the way social media is growing today, I only see this growing bigger and bigger over the next few years.

Ex: As Fashion-Tech is on the rise, what is your take on this new style of couture? Do you think it’s here to stay?

I’m not quite sure how I feel about it. I’m the kind of person that takes some time to get used to new changes. It’s definitely very interesting, but maybe I’ll grow to love it if it does stay.

Ex: How would you define your personal style?

My style is usually pretty experimental. Currently, being at home most of the time, I’ve been loving classic fits. I’m all about basic, well-fitted pieces paired together with statement shoes and accessories right now.

Varun: It has been a beautiful evolution, with people being a lot more thoughtful now about what goes up on one’s feed, both as a creator and as a viewer. It’s not just a creative space now but also a responsible one.

Ex: Can you give us an insight into social media platforms that only an Influencer can know?

Varun: I don’t think there’s any secret to these platforms, it’s all out there. That’s what makes it that easy or that difficult!

Ex: What would be your calling in a parallel universe? (Alternate career options)

Varun: An acoustic jazz sort of a musician maybe.

Ex: If you were stranded on an island, what are the 3 gadgets you’d take along?

Ex: A technology you wished you’d invented?

Varun: Internet! At least that’s how I’d know how to fix my everlasting internet issues, haha!

Ex: What’s been your favorite encounter with a fan so far? (DMs included!)

Varun: I’m not sure, I guess we are equally surprised to see each other. Nonetheless, it’s always exciting to bump into them! Social Media is known to expose vulnerabilities, with influencers being at the epicenter.

Ex: How do you deal with the dark side that comes with the medium?

Varun: It’s like having two sides of a coin, you can’t be expecting all love and no criticism. But that’s what keeps you grounded, that’s what brings the need to be responsible for your content. So I think one should always take things positively and constantly try to improve. Social media trolling is seeing an upward rise.

Ex: Do you think this only increases with the popularity of an Influencer? How does one tackle this situation?

Varun: Yes of course, popularity of a person is usually the main cause of spreading troll.

Ex: What does success mean to you?

Varun: I read a quote once, “Work until you no longer have to introduce yourself.”

Ex: Do you think Influencer Marketing is a fad? Where do you see this space in years to come?

Varun: I definitely don’t think it’s a fad. It’s the most descriptive and analytical form of marketing. It’s the platform that’ll get a brand most connected to their consumers, probably the best way to put their brand story across. If used the right way with the right people, this space can take you to places.

Gaurav Taneja | Health and Fitness | Influncex’20

Ex: Tell us about a change you’ve seen in the digital blogging space since you started out your journey? How has this space evolved?

Gaurav: YouTube has become a place where creators put well polished videos. The audience cannot determine which videos are an individual’s work
and which have been produced by an entire team. This has been the
most significant evolution as per me

Ex: Can you give us an insight into social media platforms that only an Influencer can know?

Gaurav: Numbers can be deceiving.

Ex:  A technology you wished you’d invented?

Gaurav: A technology which would allow people to eat as much fatty food as they like while still remaining lean.

Ex:  Social Media is known to expose vulnerabilities, with influencers being at the epicenter. How do you deal with the dark side that comes with the medium?

Gaurav: You have to accept that it is a part of life. If you get 99% love you will get 1% hate and you have to go with it.

Ex: What does success mean to you?

Gaurav: Being happy with the family and getting to spend time with them. But conventional success like having a good job, good salary and a good lifestyle is also important, so I think success for me is a balance of both.

Ex: What would be your calling in a parallel universe? (Alternate career options)
