HP to acquire HyperX, deal expected to close on calendar Q2 2021

HP Inc. recently announced a definitive agreement to acquire HyperX, the gaming division of Kingston Technology Company. The acquisition supports HP’s strategy to drive growth in its Personal Systems business, where gaming and peripherals are attractive segments. HyperX’s award-winning product portfolio spans a range of gaming peripherals, including headsets, keyboards, mice, mousepads, USB microphones, and console accessories.
“HyperX is a leader in peripherals whose technology is trusted by gamers around the world, and we’re thrilled to welcome their outstanding team to the HP family,” said Enrique Lores, President and CEO, HP Inc. “We continue to advance our leadership in personal systems by modernising computer experiences and expanding into valuable adjacencies. We see significant opportunities in the large and growing peripherals market, and the addition of HyperX to our portfolio will drive new sources of innovation and growth for our business.”

PC gaming continues to be one of the most popular forms of video gaming, with the PC hardware industry anticipated being worth $70 billion by 2023. The global peripherals market is expected to grow to $12.2 billion by 2024, with gaming peripherals representing a disproportionate share of this growth.
“HyperX products are designed to meet the most rigorous demands of all gamers – from casual to the most hardcore – giving them a winning edge and helping them stay on top of their game,” said John Tu, co-founder and CEO, Kingston. “Both of our companies thrive because we focus on our employees and share the same core values and culture. David Sun (Co-founder and COO) and I saw the possibilities for the HyperX business and its employees, and we both realised that this change brings a brighter future for HyperX.”
HP has built an extensive and growing global gaming portfolio in recent years, led by its OMEN brand and a world-class ecosystem of hardware, software, content, and services. The company continues to push gaming progression with powerful devices like the OMEN 15 gaming laptop and the HP Pavilion Gaming 16 laptop. Beyond devices, HP is driving software innovation with OMEN Gaming Hub, a destination for players to connect, customise, and explore their gear and games. Adding HyperX to HP’s broader gaming ecosystem will deliver innovative new experiences across everything gamers see, hear, and touch.
Under the terms of the agreement, HP will pay $425 million, subject to customary working capital and other adjustments, to acquire HyperX’s gaming peripherals portfolio. Kingston will retain DRAM, flash, and SSD products for gamers and enthusiasts. The acquisition is expected to be accretive on a non-GAAP basis to HP in the first full year following closing. The transaction is expected to close on calendar Q2 2021, pending regulatory review and other customary closing conditions.

This Digital Learning Day learn how to build a website for your business!

If you want your business to thrive in the present digital world, you need to find unique ways to stand out. Whether you are an emerging entrepreneur or have an established business, building a robust digital identity that differentiates your brand from competition has become necessary in this new typical environment. With millions of companies suffering due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there has never been a better or more critical time to invest in a website for your business. With all the technological advancements to buy and sell goods and services, coupled with fast and secure payments via the internet, a website presents a wide variety of benefits for businesses financially. It helps create a deeper connection with the consumers. Your business website can help attract new customers and add credibility and trust with your existing partners.

As digital skilling becomes one of India’s biggest priorities, beginners can now participate in online training programs to successfully develop online skills to navigate the evolving digital world.  For instance, GoDaddy has launched an online platform GoDaddy Academy in India. People with varying technical expertise can come and take certification courses to learn online business and technology skills. In fact, on the occasion of Digital Learning Day, GoDaddy Academy has launched a special offer to help India’s youth become part of the digital revolution and enroll in any one of the certifications or modular programs free of cost. Aspiring entrepreneurs can also participate in competitive digital training programs, like GoDaddy Web Build-A-Thon, a unique tech building program for students and faculty members to gain hands-on experience building websites.

While it might look daunting, creating a website is not complicated anymore. GoDaddy presents a short beginner guide on creating a website from scratch to set up your business online successfully.

Make a user-friendly website.

Make sure the website interface is user-friendly and leaves a positive impression that drives results. Your website should use attractive graphics and easy-to-read fonts. Ensure that the pictures are compressed and don’t slow your website while loading. Search engines like Google will then degrade your website ranking. You should research your target audience and understand what they are looking for from your website. Make it easy for them to achieve. Always publish easily accessible contact information/ customer care details and incorporate call-to-actions like ‘buy now,’ ‘add to cart’ buttons for users’ easy access. You should also stay informed about how your competition(s) has designed and optimized their website(s).

Obtain a good domain name

A domain name is the entry point of anyone’s website. It must make a good impression for users and is equally essential for search engine optimization (SEO). Choosing a domain name is similar to selecting a company name; it requires a lot of thought and consideration. The first and foremost step is to choose a good hosting provider depending upon your business needs. A good hosting provider will guide you in selecting a perfect domain name. Choose a domain name that conveys your business’s meaning and purpose and try to keep it short and crisp. Using an appropriate domain name extension is also crucial. A good option is .in, as it helps describe where your business is located in India.

Digital security comes first.

A growing number of internet users have penetrated a market of sophisticated cyber-attacks across the world, making businesses vulnerable. Some common steps to control cyber-attacks include investing in vital cybersecurity training programs and security solutions for the employees and ensuring that any sensitive data collected from your business is being encrypted. Business owners can set up web application firewalls or consider using a third-party authentication to out-source their database protection. Companies performing online transactions should also consider an SSL Certificate for their websites to protect data transmitted to and from the website. In today’s digital world, it is essential to have a proactive approach to website security and not defensive.

Consistent content is key.

Be consistent with the content throughout your website to build a unique identity for your brand. Setting the suitable theme and tone of your content influences your customers’ and target audiences’ perceptions. Use an informal tone if you wish to position your brand as friendly and use formal language in corporate branding. Pro Tip – do not miss adding a column of customer testimonials and reviews, which can help create loyalty and trust.

Online Website Builder

Many companies have introduced a website builder for small businesses or entrepreneurs facing trouble launching and promoting their websites. With website builders, anyone can create a professional website easily and in no time and engage with new and existing customers through various other complimentary online tools. Website builders usually provide a tailor-made design, concept, and theme customized for individual sites.

By following the above basic steps, your business will have an excellent chance of succeeding in the online marketplace. However, once your business website is live, the journey has just started, and to be on top of your customers’ minds, you will always need to modify and change elements as your business grows.

Moto e7 power review: Power on a budget

Motorola recently announced its latest budget smartphone and the newest addition to the Moto e family, the e7 Power. While it was embargoed before launch, I got a chance to spend some time with the smartphone and test out some of its capabilities. While it does not pack a benchmark-setting performance, it has its share of pros and cons. Here’s my review of the Moto e7 power.

First impressions

Simply holding the phone is sufficient to remind you it is a Motorola. Sturdy build quality, sleek aesthetics and flashy colours: everything that defines Motorola is present in the e7 power. Coupled with 4GB of RAM and  64GB of storage, the smartphone offers decent performance via its MediaTek Helio G25 octa-core SoC. However, it could do better if provided with higher specs, at least as an option.

The Moto e7 power displays all its contents on a 6.5-inch HD+ screen with 720 x 1600 pixels. It runs on Android 10 OS that offers a smooth and intuitive interface as usual. It offers a Panda glass for protection, which somewhat compromises the viewing angle and overall brightness of the phone.

Usage

The 13 MP primary rear camera is assisted by a 2 MP macro camera that works in tandem to click decent photos. The 5 MP selfie camera also surprisingly offers a wide array of options, including a manual mode, something that most smartphones lack. As mentioned before, the phone should have gotten a higher-spec variant than the 4GB + 64GB variant that it comes with. Instead, Motorola offers a lower variant with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The phone also uses eMCP type flash storage instead of the conventional eMMC format, implying a faster and more responsive interface.

The most significant parameter of this phone, however, is its massive 5000mAh battery. As per company claims, the phone can easily last for two whole days on a full charge. Realistically, the phone lasts almost two days, but the reduction in time is acceptable considering the way I used it for testing. However, there is no doubt that the Moto e7 Power will be a serious competitor when it comes to battery life.

Verdict

The phone is neither too heavy to handle, weighing in at 200 gms, nor is too bulky, being 9.2mm thick. The matte finish also ensures that the phone does not become a fingerprint magnet, while the buttons are easy to locate and use. I like the Google Assistant button since it is placed out of the usual holding position. This means you won’t tap the button unnecessarily, though a few mistaps might take place inside that tight jeans pocket. Nevertheless, the Moto e7 power is a pretty promising option at Rs 8,299.

ŠKODA KUSHAQ: Design sketches offer a preview of the new SUV

ŠKODA has released two design sketches to give a  detailed preview of the new KUSHAQ. The midsize SUV design for the Indian market draws inspiration from the bold look of the ŠKODA VISION IN concept car. ŠKODA AUTO has adapted the MQB-A0-IN version of the Volkswagen Group’s Modular Transverse Toolkit specifically for India. As part of the INDIA 2.0 product campaign, it is the first of four models from the ŠKODA and Volkswagen brands to be manufactured locally in India. The world premiere of the ŠKODA KUSAHQ will take place on 18 March 2021.

The first design sketch shows the powerful front of the new ŠKODA KUSHAQ, whose name is derived from the ancient Indian language of Sanskrit. The word “Kushak” means king or emperor.  The sharply cut, two-part front headlights, which extend to the wide ŠKODA grille, create a  prominent appearance. The impressive front bumper with underride protection emphasises the athletic look of the SUV.

The second sketch shows the rear of the new ŠKODA KUSHAQ, which has a clear structure and is framed by an elongated roof spoiler and a rugged rear diffuser in the bumper. The midsize SUV taillights feature the brand’s trademark crystalline structures, and the ŠKODA lettering appears in block capitals on the tailgate.

The ŠKODA KUSHAQ and the other upcoming volume models are based on the locally developed and produced MQB-A0-IN platform in terms of technology. This already complies with the new,  stricter safety and emission requirements in India. With a planned 95 per cent localisation level for the new vehicles, the technical development is being carried out at ŠKODA AUTO’s  Technology Centre in Pune.

Creative Stage V2 Soundbar review: Creatively musical

When I received a soundbar from one of the leading PC audio component manufacturers in India, I knew I was in for something good. Creative’s Stage V2 Soundbar promised to offer an even better output than its already good predecessor. But did it live up to its name? Here’s what I think.

First impressions:

Creative has taken an effort to make the Stage V2 soundbar even more compact, and it shows. Knocking off a considerable portion, it is now just 68 centimetres wide. That makes it eligible to fit in most spaces under TVs, regardless of the crampedness. It sports an all-black body with a metal grille at the front accompanied by the company logo on its left. Creative has also equipped Stage V2 with a wired subwoofer with a 5.25-inch driver. It is hardly 12 centimetres wide, making it slimmer than most of its competitors. Users can also wall-mount the soundbar with a pair of screws, though it could be inconvenient for some as all the input ports are at the back of the soundbar. Though they face sideways instead of facing the wall, they can be tricky to locate and slot in. Nevertheless, it is a manageable setup and is not difficult to the point of dissuasion.

Usage:

The soundbar can be operated with a power button, volume control keys, and the Bluetooth button, all of which are placed on the soundbar’s right side. A white 7-segment LED display shows all the relevant data on the soundbar. Stage V2 also displays the volume, bass, and treble levels along with the input mode, among other things, which is quite nifty. The soundbar can also be operated via a full-function wireless remote that comes in the package.

Speaking of the input ports mentioned above, Creative has provided Bluetooth 5.0, a 3.5 mm Aux jack, Optical input, USB, and HDMI ARC. Surprisingly, Creative has opted for a Type-C USB instead of the standard USB-A. Though a Type-C to USB-A cable is added to the bundle, the USB-A port is a male connector, implying you cannot connect to a pen drive. However, considering its available connectivity options, I did not find that to be much of a hindrance.

The audio output is handled by two 2.25-inch drivers that deliver 40W RMS combined and take care of high and mid-range frequencies. I was impressed with the combined 80W RMS of power that the soundbar gives, including an additional 40W RMS from the 5.25-inch subwoofer.

Verdict:

One downside is that the speaker isn’t Dolby-certified which lowers its value-for-money parameter. Consequently, a price tag of Rs 9999 means it will have to be a well-thought-out investment. Nevertheless, Creative offers a solid package with Stage V2, and there are hardly any aspects to criticise it over.

Indian Motorcycle to bring Chief Line up in India

In 1921, Indian Motorcycle unveiled the iconic Indian Chief, one of the most historic and influential motorcycles. Now, in celebration of 100 years, America’s first motorcycle company is all set to bring an entirely new line-up of Chief in India.

Indian motorcycle’s iconic Chief is expected to make its debut in the 2nd quarter of 2021 and capture the Indian market with its looks and performance.

All the models are based on a timeless, simplistic steel-tube frame powered by Indian Motorcycle’s powerful Thunderstroke motor; the new Indian Chief, Indian Chief Bobber and Indian Super Chief will offer three unique takes the classic American V-twin, each appealing to a slightly different rider.

Ltd. said, “What could be the best way to celebrate the 100 iconic years of the Indian Chief than to introduce our iconic new lineup of Chief in India?” We look forward to bringing in a new lineup of motorcycles for Indian bike lovers. We are very optimistic that the new lineup will be a huge success for our Indian range of motorcycles.”

The new Indian Chief lineup marks the intersection of simplicity and power. Mechanical and simple; Chief models are based on a classic steel welded tube frame. The lineup features a four-gallon fuel tank, bobbed rear fender, dual outboard preload-adjustable rear shocks, dual exhaust, LED lighting, keyless ignition, and Pirelli Night Dragon tyres. Along with cruise control, Chief riders can adjust their throttle response by choosing three ride modes: sport, standard or tour.

Featuring a short wheelbase of 64-inches, a low seat height of 26-inches and a wet weight as low as 670 pounds, the Indian Chief lineup inspires confidence and is approachable for any rider. The Chief’s conventional 46mm front forks with 5.2-inches of travel, 28.5-degree lean angle, and comfortable ergonomics, create a capable machine for even the most technical ride routes.

Top riders will have access to over 80 accessories, including parts designed explicitly for Chief models, as well as several existing pieces available for Scout and Thunderstroke models. ADVANCED DRIVING ASSISTANCE SYSTEM (ADAS): MY21 Ghibli is equipped with a comprehensive range of Level 2 ADAS, the highest level of autonomous driving currently permitted. It means even greater peace of mind in a variety of traffic conditions.

SOFT-CLOSE DOORS AND KEYLESS ENTRY – The standard Keyless Entry function enables you to open the doors or boot via the handles, without touching the key fob. Soft Close Doors securely, effortlessly and noiselessly closes doors left slightly ajar, increasing the car’s safety and comfort, particularly for children in the back seat.

CHASSIS AND WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION: Lightweight construction and intelligent systems are key to the inimitable pleasures of grand touring. This is demonstrated by a rigid and secure steel cell using an array of steel and aluminium alloys. This configuration maximises strength, minimises weight and retains a perfect 50:50 weight distribution.

BRAKES AND CALIPERS: Maserati continues its collaboration with Brembo, the global leader in the design and production of braking systems. Maserati brake callipers add a substantial touch of style to your car with their metallic colour flashing from behind the wheel rims.

Because all the things that strike a chord are driven by passion. And passion is undoubtedly behind that unmistakable sound of a Maserati that sends shivers down your spine.

POWER TRUNK WITH KICK SENSOR: Release and close the trunk with a foot movement in the area under the rear bumper. Sensors will detect your foot movement all along and underneath the central portion of the rear bumper. The system will only operate when the key fob is within a 3-foot range.

NERISSIMO AND NERISSIMO CARBON PACKAGES: Dramatically dark with sport-styled customizations inside and out, both the Nerissimo Package and the Nerissimo Carbon Package are designed to give your Maserati a more seductive, intimidating and aggressive look.

SKYHOOK SUSPENSIONS: Ghibli is equipped with Skyhook suspensions with shock absorbers to deliver continuous damping variation. The system uses sensors that monitor the movement of each wheel and the vehicle’s body to determine road conditions and how the vehicle is being driven. It then instantly adjusts each damper for optimal ride comfort.

WHEELS: An array of wheel rims allows each owner to add a personal touch to the vehicle. The Maserati range of boldly sculpted wheel rims emphasises the vehicle’s speed, power and style brilliantly.

GRANLUSSO & GRANSPORT: There is no change in the differentiation between GranLusso and GranSport with regard to all other details. Ghibli GranLusso stands out for its enhanced exterior finish. As in previous trims, it is created using exclusive materials and with special features in the finest tradition of Italian craftsmanship.

HD TOUCH SCREEN & INSTRUMENT CLUSTER: The central HD touch screen, enlarged from 8”4 with a ratio of 4:3 to 10”1 with a ratio of 16:10, is now frameless for a more contemporary look, with almost all the surrounding bezel removed. This new high-resolution display with multi-touch function carries a new graphic interface that mixes black with a golden colour to enhance its elegance. There is a subtle but very sophisticated change to the instrument cluster, which now includes a large rev counter and the speedometer on either side of a 7” TFT display with real anti-dazzle flat glass covers over the instruments.

MASERATI CONNECT: With effect from MY21 all Maserati cars are connected thanks to the new Maserati Connect programme. Having the Maserati connected at all times enables an eye to be kept on the car’s health, and Maserati Connect will alert the driver when service is due, improving the customer care experience. Maserati Connect also enhances safety and security, with assistance in emergencies and in the case of car theft. With a Smartphone or Smartwatch, drivers can always stay in contact with their Maserati thanks to the Maserati Connect app; this is also possible from home via their virtual personal assistant (Amazon Alexa & Google Assist). Through the MIA (Maserati Intelligent Assistant) multimedia system, the Maserati Connect connected services deliver a new experience for drivers and passengers.

Ghibli Hybrid:

The spark of electrification ignites Maserati’s future: with the new Ghibli Hybrid, the Trident Brand enters the world of electrification. The new Ghibli Hybrid represents one of the most ambitious projects for Maserati, which after the announcement of the new MC20 super sports car now sets the seal on another step forward towards the brand’s new Era.

The new Ghibli Hybrid has been introduced in India at a starting price of Rs 1.15 crore and, as the name suggests, is something new, electrifying, and fearless.

LEADING ATTITUDE: The response to your desire for speed is 0.7 seconds faster compared to the Ghibli Diesel version, covering the 0-100 km/h in a mere 5.7s. They call it “mild”, but the Ghibli Hybrid excites with the best in class power.

A POWERFUL EXPERIENCE: Thanks to its maximum power output of 330 hp and torque of 450 Nm delivered from just 1,500 rpm, the new Ghibli Hybrid’s performance data is very impressive: top speed of 255 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. Ghibli Hybrid occupants will still revel in the unmistakable sound that characterises all Maserati models, thanks to the optimised exhaust which includes specially designed resonators.

MASTERING EFFICIENCY: With 20% less fuel consumption but performance in line with the 350hp Ghibli petrol version, the Mild Hybrid technology delivers efficiency with no compromises.

REGENERATIVE DRIVE: Sometimes you might have to slow down but it is only to accelerate again. Any time you decelerate or step on the brakes, energy is recharged to boost your drive.

THE COLOUR OF EVOLUTION: A cold, high-tech grey shade with blue overtones. Grigio Evoluzione is a bespoke exterior paint that gives its elegant shape the evolution it embodies.

BLUE AIR VENT: Electric sparks pass through the iconic triple side air vents to make the Ghibli Hybrid unmistakably distinctive.

BLUE SAETTA LOGO: A symbol of strength and sophistication. The timeless Saetta logo adorning the Ghibli C-pillar is enriched by a flashy blue lightning bolt.

BLUE BRAKE CALIPERS: Brembo brake callipers accentuated in blue depict the braking energy that power charges your drive.

BLUE STITCHING: All the sophistication, character, and luxury you’d expect from a contemporary premium sedan.

Like with all Maseratis, the Ghibli range will be offered with unparalleled expertise in sales and aftersales service; and customers will also have the option to configure the exterior and interior look of the new Ghibli Hybrid in GranLusso or GranSport trim using the virtual Maserati configurator.
