Asus Zenbook Duo 14 (2021) Review – A Stand Apart Ultrabook

Two-screen or dual-screen gadgets are becoming a trivial trend, but keeping aside the audience’s interests, several top-notch companies are investing in the idea and developing two-screen devices. We have witnessed the launch of two-screen products such as Galaxy Fold 3, Galaxy Flip 3, Asus ZenBook Duo 14, and Lenovo ThinkBook Plus in the past few months.

Amongst all of these gadgets, we’ve reviewed some and sent them back to the places. However, to our luck, we got a chance to keep the Asus ZenBook Duo 14 for a bit longer, and that’s why we decided to come up with a long-term review where we can assist you to understand the complete details of the 14-inch Asus ZenBook Duo 14.

Design & Build Quality

Asus is known for offering the world’s best motherboards and innovative gadgets such as high-quality personal computers, graphics cards, and other technology solutions. The company’s latest addition, the uniquely designed Asus ZenBook Duo 14, is an update to last year’s Zenbook Duo 14, and it arrives with a massive slab of a second screen.

On the outside, the ZenBook Duo 14 features a concentric circle pattern etched on top, and it looks elegant. The glossy silver Asus logo stands apart and strikes a laptop with a classy look. On the inside, it features two screens, as mentioned in the name, and it is as wide as the main screen, but it makes the laptop sacrifice its ergonomics.

Along with a head-turning design, the Asus ZenBook Duo 14 endures a well-built form. The full-HD laptop features sturdy and robust screens, tough enough to take a hard punch. The Duo 14 is not a lap-friendly laptop, and most of the credit goes to its raised bottom panel and the second screen, as it doesn’t sit flush and changes the conventional wrist-rest space.

Display

The ZenBook Duo 14 features two stylish, seamless and steady displays, which are unquestionably beneficial if you prefer working on a laptop while commuting in a car. The laptop features a primary display of 14-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) and an additional compact display of 12.65-inch (1920 x 515), dubbed as the ScreenPad Plus. The Zenbook Duo 14 offers an immersive viewing experience with a four-sided frameless NanoEdge display and its second screen automatically tilts up to an angle of 7° which reduces glare and reflections for improved readability.

The dual display is best for journalists, writers or students who like to open/switch various windows/tabs at a time. They can use the ScreenPad Plus to track the latest news/articles and use the primary one to write their own. The Duo 14 is the best option for users who want more than one display. The laptop also features a handy button above the touchpad that immediately swaps the contents of your primary and secondary screen. The ScreenPad Plus is beneficial for gaming, especially when you like to play games and run video references side by side.

Ergonomics & Ports

One of the flaws of the Zenbook Duo 14 is its keyboard and mousepad. The company has done a decent job adjusting both of these essential aspects in a tiny space, but somewhere deep down, we all know we’re not satisfied with it. The secondary screen, ScreenPad Plus, leaves extremely little room for the touchpad, which forces Asus to create a vertical mousepad.

Also, as mentioned earlier, one can not rest their palms while typing; it’s a bit of a task in itself and a hard one to follow. Along with the mousepad, the keyboard also looks cramped and compromised for the second screen. Centre-aligned mousepads and empty keyboard decks are comfortable for every individual, whether right-handed or left-handed.

One aspect that doesn’t suffer due to the secondary screen is the ports. The Zenbook Duo 14 features a range of ports, including USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, two USB-C with Thunderbolt 4, a full-size HDMI 1.4, an HDMI connection, a microSD card slot and a 3.5mm audio port. The dynamic laptop also emphasises support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth.

Performance

Performance and endurance are two departments that one should not worry about if you’re planning to buy the Asus Zenbook Duo 14. The performance is in line with the competition, and with an 11th gen Core i7 processor lying inside, paired with 2GB Nvidia MX450 GPU, 16GB DDR4x RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD, the ZenBook Duo 14 is assuredly more than enough to handle a number of heavy tasks.

The Duo 14 is equipped with the new ScreenXpert 2 software and offers a plethora of built-in apps, including a new Control Panel app, which comes with customisable commands and shortcuts for Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, Premiere Pro and After Effects. The base model arrives with an Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor, 8GB of memory, and a 512GB SSD. The 1.6 kg laptop scores 5,330 points on n Geekbench 5.3.

Battery Life

The Asus Zenbook Duo’s battery life is surprisingly decent, and it can pull enough juice from its 70Whr battery to provide you with a solid six hours of working time. Naturally, laptops in this category tend to last a long time but in the case of Zenbook Duo, the second display is a vital culprit on battery drain. The bundled USB-C charger takes about an hour and 20 minutes to fully charge the Duo 14. After fully recharging the laptop and putting it in power saver mode, it offers over 10 hours of standby time. The fans only fired up during gaming, but you can turn them down by visiting Asus’ control centre. Overall, throughout the use, the Zenbook Duo 14 stays cool and provides wholesome enjoyment.

Verdict

Finally, we’ve arrived at the question, is the Asus ZenBook Duo really worth your time and money? Well, Yes. The Asus ZenBook Duo 14 is a pretty unique ultrabook that provides a number of innovative features, including audio equipment certified by Harman Kardon but surrenders ergonomics for a big second screen. With the price starting from ₹99,990 and going up to ₹1,34,990, it’s a decent choice and durable enough even with its dubious hinge. The Asus ZenBook Duo 14 continues to redefine what a laptop should build like, but at the end of the day, it ultimately depends on the user’s preference and whether it adds value to the user’s life or not?

The Chinese electronics giant has also partnered with Reliance Jio for conducting 5G trials in the country on their Redmi Note 11T 5G smartphone. The smartphone will go live for sale on 7th December at noon via Xiaomi India’s website, Mi Home stores, Amazon India and partnering retailers.

ShowReel: The Future of Job Seeking

Sabeer Bhatia, the co-founder of Hotmail and man responsible for making email the medium it is today, is now back with a new social video messaging app called Showreel. The platform’s objective is to create video resumes for job applications, match job seekers with companies, network building, and turn cold calls into business deals.

But how and why is this app any different, and why it could possibly become an inspiration for future similar platforms? People prefer video content over images on social media, which could be the next big thing in the job-seeking industry. Well, if you think about it, sending a video message to employers looks much more personalized and convenient.

The Introduction to ShowReel

As soon as you open the Showreel app, Sabeer Bhatia gives a minute-long video introduction on why you should be creating video content for your business or job profile to stand out from the crowd. To quote him, “If you are starting out in life and want to get noticed among the hundreds of resumes to hiring managers, you need personalized video content. If you are not seeking for a job currently, you can use this platform to practice interviews. The conversation between you and me, as well as the video you created will remain private, until ‘you’ decide to put it out.”

After the introductory video is over, you are presented with a well-designed screen that looks like social media. We have a Home button, Explore, Capture, Notifications, and Account at the bottom. At the top, you get to choose a topic to start a conversation, consisting of Professional, Personal, Startup, and Leadership. You can select any of the following, which contains a list of questions that Sabeer will be asking you. You get a ‘Swipe to Start’ feature at the bottom for starting the video conversation with Sabeer.

Compelling Tone

Since Sabeer cannot be present at all times, there is a video of him asking different questions at each step, which you have to record and send back. What I like about this app is that it has a compelling tone. It feels like you are having a conversation directly with the founder, and you are being listened to. Also, to see what a perfect showreel looks like, you can tap on the grid button where there are different reels that people have created using the application.

Sabeer Bhatia says that this format helps companies cut down on recruitment time by helping filter candidates faster. Also, he has plans to kick in AI for recruitment through better engineering.

Beyond recruitment, startup’s and matrimony, Bhatia already sees the platform being used to take surveys, especially where people find the written text difficult to understand. He also has plans to cover the health sector, where he will get doctors to formulate the right questions to plug gaps in the health system.

What is it that you don’t know about crypto?

Are you interested in cryptocurrencies?

Here are some fascinating facts about which you may be unaware. People are learning how to buy a cryptocurrency and looking for easy ways to buy Bitcoin as interest in cryptocurrency grows. It’s not surprising that some prospective investors want to learn more about how digital assets work. However, in the world of cryptocurrency, the truth can sometimes be stranger than fiction. It’s been a wild ride, and we still don’t know where cryptocurrencies will go in the future, but here are some equally crazy facts about cryptocurrencies and other digital assets.

1)Gas is the term used to describe Ethereum fees.

When completing transactions on the Ethereum blockchain, you must pay for “gas.” The computational effort required to complete the transaction is represented by gas on the Ethereum network. Using the network for apps or transactions, even converting another coin to ether, necessitates the payment of gas. Gas fees can feel quite high in some cases, depending on the transaction and traffic on the blockchain.

2) One of the first blockchain games was CryptoKitties.CryptoKitties, one of the first blockchain games, allows you to breed one-of-a-kind digital cats. CryptoKitties are not a currency; rather, they are a type of non-fungible token (NFT). Because each kitty is unique and cannot be replicated, they have a one-of-a-kind value, similar to artwork. CryptoKitties, by the way, is built on the Ethereum blockchain.

3) The most expensive CryptoKitty was purchased for 600 ETH.

Someone paid 600 ETH for a CryptoKitty Dragon in 2018. At the time of the transaction, 600 ETH was worth approximately $170,000. Today, however, with the price of one ether exceeding $2,700, that 600 ETH would be worth more than $1.6 million. That is one pricey digital cat!

4)NFTs are not currency.

NFTs are not cryptocurrencies, despite their growing popularity and status as digital assets. They are tokens that do not serve as a medium of exchange. Furthermore, NFTs cannot be divided or replicated.NFTs are becoming increasingly popular as alternative investments, similar to artwork or collectibles. In fact, some people see them as digital collectibles and artwork with the potential to appreciate in value. There are even NFTs, such as those provided by NBA TopShot, that function in a manner similar to digital sports trading cards.

5)Cryptocurrencies are prohibited in some countries.

Cryptocurrencies are not legal in every country. Some countries, such as Turkey, prohibit cryptocurrency payments, while others, such as Nigeria, prohibit cryptocurrency exchanges. However, one of the most significant recent bans is China’s prohibition on financial institutions providing services related to cryptocurrency transactions.

Even though countries can regulate access to service providers and shut down exchanges, it is nearly impossible to outright prohibit the use of cryptocurrencies. But, with one of the world’s largest economies opposing cryptocurrencies, it’s difficult to predict how things will play out in the future.

Bottomline

Cryptocurrencies offer a number of interesting opportunities for investing, as well as possibilities for the future. However, it’s essential to be careful about how you invest, especially with a new asset class. Carefully consider your risk tolerance before moving forward and make sure investing in digital assets is appropriate for your investment strategy.

Do you know the surprising facts about crypto?

We cannot delve into the world in one article, but here you will find some of the most amazing facts about cryptocurrencies that you may never have heard of. Even after ten years, most cryptocurrency enthusiasts are not familiar with interesting facts about Bitcoin. Here are some interesting facts about Bitcoin that every Bitcoin holder should know, let us see.

1) However, it may surprise you that the current inventor of bitcoin is accordingly anonymous. We all know that the creation of Bitcoin is attributed to Satoshi Nakamoto, although we have no idea if a single person or a whole group of people is behind the alias. This is the most popular and surprising fact about the world of cryptocurrencies, the person or organization that created Bitcoin is unknown. Many people came forward and stated that they were the ones who started it, but none of them were reliable sources.

2) We think it should start with “Once Upon a Time” … In short, on May 22, 2010, a Bitcoin developer paid 10,000 BTC for two pizzas he ordered from Papa Jones. It’s hard to believe how far Bitcoin and the market, in general, have come. At the time, 10,000 bitcoin was worth about $40, so one bitcoin was “worth” slightly less than half a cent. If you had that much money in bitcoin today, it would be worth more than $350 million.

3) Cryptocurrencies offer a range of attractive investment opportunities as well as opportunities for the future. As the authors of NerdWallet pointed out, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin may not be as secure, and some prominent voices in the investment community have advised budding investors to avoid them.

4) There were over 7,300 cryptocurrencies in circulation as of November 2021. While you won’t be able to buy them all on an exchange, they are available, with some requiring their own wallets.
There are so many coins available because it is relatively simple to create and distribute a coin. However, as of November 2021, the top 20 coins control approximately 86 percent of the cryptocurrency market.

5) One man wishes to excavate a landfill in order to reclaim his digital wallet.
In 2013, James Howells, a Welshman, threw away a hard drive containing 7,500 bitcoins. When he realized how much Bitcoin’s value had risen in recent years, he went in search of the drive. He is now attempting to persuade his local city council to allow him to excavate the landfill in order to locate the drive. He claims to be offering a portion of the proceeds in exchange for the city allowing him to search through the trash.

well, this is all for today, but if you wish to know more. keep reading with us. read more about crypto: Crypto Dictionary: Terms you must know!

Meet the all-new and all-curvy Maruti Suzuki Celerio

Meet the all-new and curvy Maruti Suzuki Celerio

Reviewed by – Pratik Ghone

Maruti Suzuki sales are banking on products that cater to mass-market audiences, at least in India. With the sales plateau and the world slow-down (read as lockdown), it is time for something new. Maruti has been studying the demographics in India and, adhering to the mindset of young professionals, launched the all-new Maruti Suzuki Celerio.

The new Celerio is available in six different colours – Speedy Blue, Arctic White, Solid Fire Red, Glistening Grey, Silky Silver, Caffeine Brown with a young audience in mind. The design is a complete overhaul compared to the ageing Celerio launched in 2014. Noticeable changes include curves that translate all over the exterior fascia and then some. The wheel arches are neatly designed to give a sense of bulge without actually protruding. The most exciting section is how curves on the front and rear doors make the car like a concept design made real for the masses.  Curved headlights, curved front doors, a (mandatory to Indian markets) chrome strip splitting the nose grill, indicators integrated ORVMs, and a shrunk down Baleno inspired tail section make the Celerio look like a major overhaul to its earlier design.

The new Celerio is 55 mm wider than before. Also, its wheelbase is now 10 mm longer, making it 2,435 mm. The new Celerio has a 170 mm ground clearance, 5 mm more than the old model, making it easier to tackle all road undulations. Our top-of-the-line ZXi+ variant also comes equipped with keyless entry assist next to conventional upward pull door handles. Unlike its predecessor, the A-pillar is also sanely sized, which created a huge blind spot for the driver in the earlier model. What comes exclusively to the ZXi+ variant are the 15″ alloy rims with 175 section Yokohama tyres. All other variants come with standard 14″ rims and 165 section tyres.

Hop inside, and the all-new tagline feels justified cocooned in varied textures of black fibre all across the interiors. The earlier Celerio did come with part analogue and part digital console, but Maruti has overhauled the same approach on the new Celerio. The background textures are symmetrical geometric shapes with a clean and understandable round design that matches the new Celerio DNA. It looks amber clad, round, modern and youthful, with ample information for the driver. There are tonnes of textures on the dashboard, all in black fibre. Gone are the door controls from the doors, and everything now sits in the central bay. For better or for worse, the central console flaunts a 7-inch Smartplay touch infotainment system with support for wired Android Auto and Apple car play support. Do understand that only the top-end variants get this feature. The centre console extends adjacent to the front row seats ending with window controls for the rear seats.

Doors of the Celerio are barebones with no control units, but they make up for it with large door pockets, enough to place six full-size bottles across four doors. Apart from the base variant, all other variants get electronic controls for ORVM adjustment on the right side of the steering. This panel also features the switch for auto start-stop feature. Seats are cushioned well enough with integrated headrests for both front and rear seats. Thanks to the additional wheelbase, space at the rear is comfortable and ample for three teenagers. A healthy 313 litres boot space apart from a sink well for the spare wheel makes the car spacious enough for long trip luggage. Note that the boot storage lip is high and could be a hurdle when loading heavy baggage.

We drove the ZXi+ manual, and automatic variants, which come equipped with steering mounted controls, adjustable steering, height adjust for the driver seat and most bells and whistles of the lot. Such creature comforts are a welcome addition to the Celerio. That said, Maruti has also introduced the K10C 1-litre engine with this car. The engine is the same across the various variants, with AMT (AGS) offered upwards of the VXi variant. This engine is run by a 5-speed manual and automatic transmission and produces impressive 25+km/l mileage, a segment-leading number. Let’s check out how it feels to drive.

The new K10C engine is potent and carries the signature torque-oriented appeal. On paper, the engine makes 67bhp at 6000rpm and 89Nm of torque as low as 3500rpm. In the real world, the first gear seems short and to the point. Shifting up to the 2nd and 3rd gear with a bit of throttle reveals a healthy powerband that can stretch in 3 digits and way over the legal limitations on Indian roads. The engine is happiest over 1200rpm and pulls strong right up to 6000rpm. The 4th gear is excellent on highways with enough grunt to overtake, albeit in linear power delivery. 5th gear is best suited for comfort cruising which this engine does not mind doing all day long. The steering is electronically controlled, but the inputs are precise, and feedback is ample to feel the road underneath. What came as a surprise is how this car handles within city limits. At times, the steering, engine and chassis come together to make one feel like they are driving a much smaller car than the spec sheets suggest. This characteristic is excellent for novice and experienced drivers irrespective of their sex, age and other choices. The increased ground clearance and dimensions also make the car rock-solid on highway and in city speeds. There is a certain sense of body roll when carrying a few people and maneuvering the car at high speeds but never too intrusive in the overall driving experience.

One thing to be noted was the way this engine sounds when revved and performance-driven. We should make it clear that our cars were brand new off the assembly line. When stressed, the engine produces a growling noise, and the NVH levels aren’t the best in class either. While the sound felt like the engine was small, its performance did not match the sound output. Maybe a few oil changes would make this engine sound calmer, but it is worth noting nonetheless. The overall characteristic of the engine makes it a perfect choice to be driven on city and highway commutes without leaving the driver unsatisfied.

Increased wheelbase, better creature comforts, capable engine and new design language make the new Celerio look like a good competition in the crowded hatchback segment. Yes, some competitors like the Tata Tiago and Hyundai’s line-up add more features in comparison, but none have the K-series engine dynamics to match their stature. Still, in isolation, the Celerio matched with Maruti’s vast service network is a good budget option for anyone looking to get a new age hatchback with minimal running costs.

Crypto Dictionary: Terms you must know!

At first, cryptocurrency terminology may seem confusing, but do not worry, it gets simpler and will soon make sense. Many words of cryptocurrency originate from software development that’s been around for a lot longer. These more recent terms for cryptocurrencies emerge from slang words or phrases that are now common in the culture of cryptocurrencies.

We will look at the top most popular cryptocurrency terms throughout this article, which you’ll need to know and describe what they imply.

DDoS Attack

When several parties work together to overload a device by burdening that with both requests for data, malicious activity, a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack place.[4] The malicious involved parties in an attack action to avoid a resource, including a server, from becoming able to provide a specific service, like hosting a web page.

FUD

This refers to “fear, uncertainty, and doubt.” This is a marketplace scenario where a group of individuals creates misinformation data about a given cryptocurrency that induce others’ mind emotions of fear, uncertainty. Individuals do this to drop down a cryptocurrency’s price and instead benefit from it by buying at a convenient price.

Fiat Money

Fiat money is a legal currency’s value, as the US dollar, is supported by the government which released it.

Fork

A fork produces alternative blockchain variants but then the split blockchain operates on various parts of the system simultaneously. A “hard fork” makes legitimate previous transactions null, and inversely; a “soft fork” makes fraudulent transactions formerly valid, but invalid.

Hardware Wallet

A physical device intended to securely store any cryptocurrency, practically like the most simple USB drive, from the device.

Hashing

The method through which you mine bitcoin or related cryptocurrency, leveraging cryptographic algorithms while helping to address the differential equation inside it.

BIP (Bitcoin Improvement Proposal)

BIP is the abbreviation of ‘Bitcoin Improvement Proposal’. This is a standardized way to introduce functions and other issues, such as design issues. Because of the decentralized nature of Bitcoin and therefore the lack of a formal structure, this system is used to improve Bitcoin in a well-founded and consensus-driven way.

Block Reward

The block reward is the payment that is offered to the node that is securing the blockchain. In the case of Bitcoin, which is has a Proof-of-Work consensus algorithm, these would be the miners. The payment is in the form of the native cryptocurrency of that blockchain. The amount is a predetermined reward per block, but often that is supplemented with the fees that are paid for the transactions that block contains. For Bitcoin, the current block rewards are cut in half every four years. This is called the ‘halving’.

Block Size

The block size represents the size of each block in a blockchain. Transactions are stored in a blockchain block. For Bitcoin, this is limited to 1MB per block. More transactions can be stored when the blocks are larger. This is the case with many altcoins. There are also disadvantages to large blocks, such as the required storage space. Also, it can become less attractive for miners if the transaction fees become too low as a result of large blocks.
