Kuljyoti Dhingra | Top 100 | Influncex’20

Ex: Tell us about a change you’ve seen in the digital blogging space since you started out your journey? How has this space evolved?

Kuljyoti: With an increasing number of creators and with greater consumption of content by the audience, the number of brands investing in Influencers have also increased. I remember how difficult it was for me to convince brands three years ago to pay me for my work but now, things have changed a lot for good.

Ex: Can you give us an insight into social media platforms that only an Influencer can know?

Kuljyoti: The only thing that a good content creator knows is that every social media platform is different. I have seen Influencers committing this mistake wherein they repost the same content on every single platform thinking that will help them grow but it does not work that way.

Ex: If you were stranded on an island, what are the 3 gadgets you’d take along?

Kuljyoti: My cellphone, my vlog camera with lots of memory cards and extra batteries and my laptop!

Ex: A technology you wished you’d invented?

Kuljyoti: I wish I could come up with an editing software wherein I would just upload the recorded content in the software and it would edit and upload the best content on every platform itself. Social Media is known to expose vulnerabilities, with influencers being at the epicenter.

Ex: How do you deal with the dark side that comes with the medium?

Kuljyoti: One major dark side that I encountered in the past was the continuous feeling of loneliness because you are too busy creating content that real life joy doesn’t make you happy anymore. This is why it is very important to have real relationships and real friends who can support you and guide you whenever you are going through a bad phase.

Ex: What does success mean to you?

Kuljyoti: Success for me is a sound sleep at night without worries, anxiety and insecurity. I have seen people from this industry making a lot of money, having a lot of material possessions but still feeling empty inside.

Ex: Which is that one dish or cuisine that you haven’t tried yet but are looking forward to?

Kuljyoti: I think India has so many dishes that are not yet explored. It’s my dream to visit every city of India and explore their local cuisine. As far as international cuisine is concerned, I am really
intrigued by Persian cuisine.

Ex: What do you do to make your content unique from others?

Kuljyoti: My content is a reflection of myself and that’s what makes it unique.

My Yellow Plate | Top 100 | Influncex’20

Ex: Tell us about a change you’ve seen in the digital blogging space since you started out your journey? How has this space evolved?

Himanshu: I started back in 2015 when it was less crowded, more meaningful and more engaging. Over the last five years, I have seen more creators joining the space, getting more crowded and becoming less engaging for the audience.

Ex: Can you give us an insight into social media platforms that only an Influencer can know?

Himanshu: I don’t know such platforms which only an influencer would know as social media isn’t just for influencers but for masses to interact with friends, family, neighbours, community and influencers.

Ex:  If you were stranded on an island, what are the 3 gadgets you’d take along?

Himanshu: Mobile first, headphones second and a JIO sim

Ex: A technology you wished you’d invented?

Himanshu: To smell and taste the recipes online and rate them!

Ex: What’s been your favorite encounter with a fan so far? (DMs included!)

Himanshu: At my first meetup years ago, there was this one guy who turned up and he was so happy about it and motivated me to continue.

Ex: Social Media is known to expose vulnerabilities, with influencers being at the epicenter. How do you deal with the dark side that comes with the medium?

Himanshu: I take it as two sides of a coin and understand that I am not RAJMA CHAWAL and that everyone will like me! 😛

Ex: Social media trolling is seeing an upward rise. Do you think this only increases with the popularity of an Influencer? How does one tackle this situation?

Himanshu: Certainly it has increased and it does get worse with popularity but again that’s part of every influencer’s journey/career. You need to take it lightly and don’t judge yourself on the basis of someone else’s opinion. No one is PERFECT like Rajma Chawal.

Ex: What does success mean to you?

Himanshu: Living on my own terms and doing what I planned to do and love to do. Money, fame, name and rest everything else is a bonus.

Ex:  Which is that one dish or cuisine that you haven’t tried yet but are looking forward to?

Himanshu: Any dish from Gordon Ramsay’s Menu is what I am looking forward to.

Ex:  What do you do to make your content unique from others?

Himanshu: The Yellow Plate is the USP and makes it stand apart from others.

The Crazy Indian Foodie | Top 100 | Influncex’20

Ex: Tell us about a change you’ve seen in the digital blogging space since you started out your journey? How has this space evolved?

Devashree: I started The crazy indian foodie 5 years ago when digital blogging was quite new. It’s evolved tremendously over the years.

Ex: Can you give us an insight into social media platforms that only an Influencer can know?

Ex: What would be your calling in a parallel universe? (Alternate career options) :

Devashree: I’m a lawyer too and I quit my job at a law firm two years ago to pursue blogging full time. If there was a parallel universe, I’d definitely continue my law practice.

Ex: If you were stranded on an island, what are the 3 gadgets you’d take along?

Devashree: My phone, portable charger and laptop.

Ex: A technology you wished you’d invented?

Devashree: A time machine so I can travel back and forth in time to whatever place I want! Also a fresh gourmet food vending machine like the one in the Jetsons.

Ex: What’s been your favorite encounter with a fan so far? (DMs included!)

Devashree: I was in Lonavala for a weekend and posted a story about it. A fan messaged me saying she’d love to meet me so we did and she baked me cupcakes with The crazy indian foodie on them, made me meet her whole family with a lot of excitement and we spent a lovely time together.

Ex: Social Media is known to expose vulnerabilities, with influencers being at the epicenter. How do you deal with the dark side that comes with the medium?

Devashree: Every career has its good and bad side. There will always be trolls and people with lots of free
time on their hands who will pass offensive and derogatory comments but I choose to ignore them as there will be hundreds of others who will post positive, motivating ones. It’s something you learn to deal with over time.

Ex: Which is that one dish or cuisine that you haven’t tried yet but are looking forward to?

Devashree: There are so many on my list! I really want to travel to South America, Japan and Russia to try their local cuisines. Dish wise, In India too, there are a huge number of local dishes from various states that I’d love to try, for example food from North East India.

Ex: What do you do to make your content unique from others?

Devashree: I always add a personal touch to my content, post a mix of everything from street food to restaurants to unique destinations to luxury hotels to some lifestyle content too. There’s something in it for everyone and I always try to create high quality content that stands out.

Sarah Hussain | Top 100 | Influncex’20

Ex: Tell us about a change you’ve seen in the digital blogging space since you started out your journey? How has this space evolved?

Sarah: I started 4 years ago, where the space of digital marketing was not so solid, and Instagram/YouTube bloggers were just treated with freebies and free lunches. However, no people like me are making it a career choice, people have started recognizing it, brands want their products to be endorsed by bloggers, and it works as a regular creative business.

Ex:  Can you give us an insight into social media platforms that only an Influencer can know?

Sarah: I feel social media is one place for expression which gives every creator its chance to express their creativity. If you’re good at something the app can make you a star, you don’t need to be super rich or an influential person, social media recognizes talent faster than any other platform.

Ex:  A technology you wished you’d invented?

Sarah: To make all my videos viral.

Ex:  What’s been your favorite encounter with a fan so far? (DMs included!)

Sarah: There have been many really, but once a man msged me that he named her daughter Sarah, because he wants her to become like me, I was really touched by it.

Ex:  What does success mean to you?

Sarah: Success is never a target, for me success is waking up everyday, making content, making my followers happy and having a good night’s sleep. It’s constant. I believe hard work is the way to success.

Ex: Do you think Influencer Marketing is a fad? Where do you see this space in years to come?

Sarah: I don’t think social media is going anywhere, it’s a super growing field. I see this field getting more popular than movies in the years to come.

Ex: Which is that one dish or cuisine that you haven’t tried yet but are looking forward to?

Sarah: I really want to try authentic Spanish and Andhra Food.

Ex:  What do you do to make your content unique from others?

Sarah: Originality and just sheer love for what I do.
