Xiaomi 13 Pro with a Leica-powered camera is launching on 26th Feb

We’re only 40 days into 2023 and have already witnessed the two biggest tech launches of the year. First, Samsung unveiled three smartphones from the S23 Series at the Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event and then at Cloud 11, OnePlus launched two smartphones, the OnePlus 11 5G and the OnePlus 11R 5G.

Now, to steal the attention of all the hyped launches, Xiaomi revealed its plan to launch Xiaomi 13 Pro in India. The flagship 5G smartphone with a Leica-powered camera was unveiled in China in December. The company recently confirmed that it will launch the device globally on February 26 at Mobile World Congress (MWC), including India.

The detailed specifications of the Xiaomi 13 Pro were already available online as the phone was announced in China in December last year. The smartphone will carry most of them in its Indian expenditure. The Xiaomi 13 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and will come up with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB of storage onboard.

The smartphone will run on Android 13-based MIUI 14 out of the box and sport a 6.7-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Along with these, it will also boast features like Dolby Vision and HDR10. The display of the Xiaomi 13 Pro operates at QHD+ resolution and is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro is expected to be priced around the 55-60k bracket and will arrive with a Leica-powered triple camera system which includes 50.3MP primary (with OIS), 50MP telephoto, and 50MP ultrawide units. On the front, the smartphone boasts a 32-MP camera. In terms of battery, the device runs on a 4,820 mAh battery with 120W wired, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging support.

Review – OnePlus Buds Pro 2 – Truly Pro?

What do you need to kill time during your commute to work or when you’re bored at home? Of course, a little dose of music or the content, and to get that, you need to own good headphones or earbuds. I’ve been feeding my ears with the music on OnePlus earbuds and headsets for a year, such as Bullets Wireless Z2, Nord Buds and Nord Buds CE. However, I got a chance to try my ears at the OnePlus’ premium earbuds when we received the OnePlus Buds Pro 2.

The company entered the premium audio market with the OnePlus Buds Pro in 2021, but since then, didn’t launch any premium earbuds or headphones. The newly launched OnePlus Buds Pro 2 offers the same basic design with a two-tone finish on the buds and a matte charging case just like its predecessor. In terms of features, it brings improved features, noise cancelling, Dolby Atmos spatial audio and sound tuning by Dynaudio.

Unboxing

The premium earbuds from the OnePlus arrive in signature red and white packaging and have a mark of premiumness. Once you open the box, you see a small layered red-coloured package with a “Buds for life” slogan consisting of a user guide, safety and warranty papers, along with a note from Pete. Below that, you see the case with buds, and at the bottom, you get to see ear-tips and an OTG cable.

Available Colours

Radiant Silver, Glossy White and Matte Black

Design & Comfort

As mentioned earlier, the design of the buds looks almost identical to the OnePlus Buds Pro, while the charging case of the Buds Pro 2, the difference between the two, is almost negligible. The metal texture on the Buds Pro 2’s case is more advanced and not easy to be stained with fingerprints and features the brand logos of ONEPLUS and DYNAUDIO in the middle.

The charging case of the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 fits easily in a jeans pocket, but it’s hard to guess from where it has an opening, at least during the initial days. Also, one can not open the case by using just one hand. The earbuds are a little loose, and you will need to allow them a few days to adjust. However, they’ll feel a little comfortable on your ears once you get used to it.

Connectivity

The earbuds are equipped with a BES BES2600YP flagship chip and support Bluetooth 5.3 technology along with LHDC 5.0 audio transmission (subsequent OTA upgrade), offering a more stable connection. When connecting for the first time with your phone, just long press the button inside the case and wait until your phone shows the name of the buds.

Sound Quality

The earbuds have an 11mm woofer, a 6mm tweeter, and a triple-core noise cancellation chip with a 48dB depth. It also supports the new LHDC 5.0 transmission technology, which can automatically switch between 128kbps and 1000kbps. The ANC effect in the earbuds is quite apt and can withdraw some everyday noise scenes. Overall, Buds Pro 2 are good, but definitely not at the price they’re available now.

Battery Life

OnePlus Buds Pro 2 earbuds offer about 10 hours of battery backup, and, along with the charging case, it can provide an additional 29 hours of battery life, in total 39 hours. The battery backup of the buds is quite good, and even after using it for two hours straight with the ANC mode turned on, the battery power drops by about 25%. In terms of charging, it takes 10 minutes to offer 3 hours of listening.

Verdict

The Buds Pro 2 offers decent performance regarding sound quality and excellent battery life, but the brand needs to focus on grip and comfort, too, especially for the buds, which are priced at 13,999/-. Budget earbuds, like OnePlus Nord Buds, are more comfy and value for money. Overall, if you want to experience ANC and premium segment buds, then only dare to invest in OnePlus Buds Pro 2.

Review – OnePlus 11 5G – Striving to Settle

When OnePlus launched its first-ever smartphone, it grabbed a lot of attention. Since then, they had a flourishing journey until they decided to hop on the flagship segment. The company had a tough 2022 as their flagship device OnePlus 10 Pro, failed to impress the consumers, but thanks to the OnePlus 10T, a mid-life revision of the OnePlus 10 Pro, a smartphone that rescued OnePlus from having a mid-life crisis and helped them to stay in the game. Now, it’s time to see what the OnePlus 11 5G brings to the table, a much-needed relief or the undesired path of downfall?

Design

OnePlus lost the tag of flagship killer a long ago, and now the company is trying hard to survive in the much competitive market. The OnePlus 11 5G arrives with IP64 equivalent protection for dust and splash resistance and few other significant changes, especially on the backside, where it has a strange-looking large camera unit but in a round shape. The phone boasts a punch-hole camera placed on the extreme left of the screen, volume buttons on the left profile, a lock key on the right, along with a comeback of an alert slider.

Display

The smartphone sports a 6.7-inch 2K resolution 120Hz AMOLED screen and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. Sounds like a good display, but that’s limited to the closed doors. As soon as you walk outside in the sun, even in full brightness, you won’t be able to see what’s on your screen! The OnePlus 11 5G is the first android smartphone that arrives with LTPO 3.0 technology, which assists the phone in switching between different refresh rates in a power-efficient manner.

Cameras

The OnePlus 11 5G features a triple camera set-up of 50 MP, f/1.8, 24-mm wide lens, 32 MP, f/2.0, 48mm telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and 48 MP, f/2.2, ultrawide lens. The camera housing of the OnePlus 11 features some shimmering dust-like particles, which are quite noticeable and a bit strange. The main cameras of the OnePlus 11 5G support video shooting of up to 8K-24fps, while the ultra-wide supports 4k-30fps, and the telephoto supports only 1080P-30fps.

The main camera of the OnePlus 11 5G does a decent job of taking pictures, but it needs camera updates because the output seems more vibrant than required. The device sports a 16 MP selfie camera with Auto-HDR and allows you to shoot at 1080p-30fps. The output of the selfie camera seems better compared to the previous OnePlus smartphones. About the night mode, the device offers good results with all the colour details.

Performance

The OnePlus 11 5G arrives with Android 13 out of the box and is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the fastest available chipset in the market. The latest processor from Qualcomm glides the device through everyday chores with ease and handles heavy tasks effortlessly. The smartphone we received was loaded with 16GB RAM + 4GB VRAM with 256 GB storage. The brand offers 4 generations of OxygenOS and 5 years of security updates for the OnePlus 11 5G. The device has support for 13 5G bands, Bluetooth 5.3, and Wi-Fi 7, which will soon be available in India.

Battery

The smartphone arrives with a 5000 mAh, 100w SuperVOOC fast charger, which promises a full charge in 25 minutes and takes only 5 minutes to reach the 30% mark. When it comes to normal usages, like 2 hours of content watching, 2 hours of social media and a few things here and there, the battery lasts for about a day. However, the battery surrenders quite quickly when you use the device extensively. Overall, the battery seems good for moderate-level usage, and for heavy use, carry the brick along.

Verdict

The design language of the OnePlus 11 5G is quite good, as it has a matte finish back panel and a different camera set-up. When it comes to camera and performance, the device outsmarts the moderate requirements. While the display of the smartphone is great if you are more concerned about refresh rate, prefer to stay inside, and like to watch OTT content. However, if you are into the outdoors, heavy gaming, camera-centric and power consumption, then please look elsewhere.

17 nostalgic cafes and restaurants to have a dose of heritage

India is a country known for its diverse and delicious cuisine. The cuisine dates back over 5000 years, and over the centuries, it has been influenced by many foreign arrivals, such as Persians, Mongols, British, Portuguese, and Chinese, among others.

In India, people take long routes only to munch on their favourite dishes. Be it the spicy street food of the north to the coastal seafood of the south, no matter what type of cuisine you’re in the mood for, you’re sure to find something to delight your taste buds.

Today, we have many modernised restaurants and cafes throughout the country where you can find various celebrated dishes, but one can not get a touché of heritage at these newbies. To get that feeling of nostalgia and heritage, you must have to get into these eateries in India.

Britannia and co.

Being a Mumbaikar, starting off the heritage list of eateries without Britannia and co. would be a sinful move for me. The city is home to various iconic Irani cafes, and currently, these are the only places in Mumbai where you can have a dose of heritage.

The restaurant was established in 1923 by Boman Kohinoor, and the place where it is located will surely remind you of the old times. When in the city, don’t miss out on having a cup of Irani chai with Bun Maska at the Britannia and co.

Cost for Two: ₹2,000

Address: 16, Ballard Estate, Fort, Mumbai

Recommended Dishes: Berry Pulao, Dhansak, Patra ni Machi, Salli Boti, and Caramel Custard

Tunday Kababi

Every time I had meat with Lucknowis, all they had to say was, “Kabhi Lucknow Aao”, as the city is best known for its kebabs and nawabs. I haven’t got lucky to have a taste of meat in Lucknow, but I can recommend you a great place to have a feast of kebabs.

Established in 1905, Tunday Kababi is an affordable place to have a variety of kebabs that have no match. The founder of the place, Haji Murad Ali fell from the terrace when he was young and lost his left arm; that’s how the eatery got its name, Tunday Kababi.

Cost for Two: ₹400

Address: 168/6, Old Nazirabad Rd, Mohan Market, Lucknow

Recommended Dishes: Mutton Tunday Kebab, and Mutton Biryani

Moti Mahal

Do you like butter chicken or dal makhani? Please move ahead if you don’t! The delicious dishes were invented in the 1950s by Kundan Lal Jaggi, Thakur Dass, and Kundan Lal Gujral, the founders of the world-famous Moti Mahal restaurants.

One day, while experimenting, they added tomato sauce to their chicken curry, and the dish they made that day came into existence as butter chicken. The heritage restaurant has been serving people since 1947 and is one of the favourite places to eat amongst Delhites.

Cost for Two: ₹1200

Address: 3704, Netaji Subhash Marg, Old Dariya Ganj, Daryaganj, New Delhi

Recommended Dishes: Butter Chicken, Dal Makhani, Tandoori Chicken, and Keema Naan

Central Tiffin Room / Shri Sagar Restaurant

The first filtered coffee I ever had was from the Ram Ashraya, a simple restaurant located in the serene locality of Matunga, Mumbai. Since then, I’ve drunk down a lot of filtered coffee and was looking for the best version of it, which I had in CTR Shri Sagar, Bangalore.

Y. V. Subramanyam established the iconic restaurant in the 1920s, where they serve authentic South Indian delicacies. The place is heaven for dosa lovers, and one should not leave the city without having a scrumptious breakfast at the CTR Shri Sagar.

Cost for Two: ₹300

Address: 7th Cross, Margosa Road, Malleshwaram, Bangalore

Recommended Dishes: Benne Masala Dosa, Kesari Chow Chow Bhath, and Crispy Vadas

Shaikh Brothers Bakery

The capital of Assam, Guwahati, is not only home to the famous Kamakhya Temple, but the city also nests one of the oldest bakeries in India, Shaikh Brothers Bakery. The place was a favourite amongst British officials as well as Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi.

The place was established in 1885 by Shaikh Ghulam Ibrahim when he realised the potential of setting up a bakery in Assam when he was on a work tour in Assam. Even after 135+ years, the bakery hasn’t lost its pre-independence charm.

Cost for Two: ₹300

Address: 195, Hem Baruah Rd, Pan Bazaar, Guwahati

Recommended Dishes: Dry Cake, Hot Dog, and Chicken Pastry

Indian Coffee House

Situated on the busy college street of Kolkata, the Indian Coffee House is a place that brings nostalgia and heritage out of you. The place is not popular for its delicious food but known for being a part of our heritage.

The coffee house was established in 1876 and has been a favourite place to hang out and a renowned meeting place (adda) for intellectuals and students, such as Satyajit Ray, Amartya Sen, Ritwik Ghatak, and Aparna Sen.

Cost for Two: ₹300

Address: 15, Bankim Chatterjee St, College Street, Kolkata

Recommended Dishes: Chicken Kabiraji, Hot Coffee, and Mutton Afghani Cutlet

Kesar Da Dhaba

The heritage list of eateries wouldn’t be complete without including a dhaba from the Indian state of Punjab, a place known for its foodies and roadside dhabas. Kesar Da Dhaba is a place where you can have authentic Punjabi food soaked in ghee.

The dhaba was established in 1916, and since then, it has been serving a great variety of Punjabi dishes to us. The dhaba will not provide you with a luxury ambience, but the food you’re going to get here will make a place of its own in your heart.

Cost for Two: ₹500

Address: Chowk Passian, Shastri Market, Near Town Hall, Amritsar

Recommended Dishes: Lacha Paratha, Malai Kofta, Punjabi Chhole, Dal Makhani, and Lassi

Essentials no. 17

Black and White Stripe Top

A black and white stripe top is a versatile and timeless piece to have in your wardrobe. It has been around for decades and is a staple in fashion. You can pair it with a blazer and trousers for a more formal look and pair it with jeans and sneakers for a more casual look.

17 wardrobe essentials for men

Being well-dressed is the easiest way to show who you are. However, in a world of fast fashion, we often ignore the ever-green track and follow the trails of seasonal trends. We know fashion is fickle and going to stay for a short time, but the urge to have that trendy piece of clothing controls our minds, and we end up overstuffing our wardrobes.

FASHION Vs STYLE

Two broadly used phrases by the young generation even though they are baffled about them. Let’s make it easy, fashion is more about dressing as per the trends, while style is more about being yourself. Being in style and having certain wardrobe essentials will always help you to stay fresh, no matter the time of year.

Essentials no. 1

Pale Blue Oxford Shirt

The button-down long-sleeve Oxford shirt in a pale blue hue is a timeless option. The shirt will serve as a smart casual for any occasion, and it’s the perfect accompaniment to black or white trousers, a navy-blue suit, dark blue jeans, shorts and even a light brown chino.

Essentials no. 2

Pair of Black T-Shirts

Black colour brings confidence and is often associated with intelligence and sexuality. When styling a black t-shirt, only the sky is the limit, as it looks elegant on everyone and everything; it doesn’t matter whether you are heading to work, a party, or a date.

Essentials no. 3

Statement Jewellery

When our country was abundant and prosperous, we had men who liked to wear pieces of jewellery. Even today, we have men who like to wear a modish bracelet and a stylish ring as it adds a statement to their already hyped look.

Essentials no. 4

Grey Jeans

Black colour suits best with grey and when you’re having the heft of black coloured clothes such as shirts, and t-shirts, then you can’t avoid grey coloured jeans. When you wear black and grey together, it brings a soothing vibe to your look.

Essentials no. 5

Chelsea Boots

Many people perceive that Chelsea Boots or any boots are only made to suit cool weather, but it’s not true. One can wear Chelsea Boots on a day-to-day basis, as they’re easy to wear and look good on casual as well as formal outfits.

Essentials no. 6

Now that you have seen most of the wardrobe essentials, it’s time to hold them together with something and what’s better than a leather belt? Wearing a leather belt helps accentuate your figure, style an outfit, or add colour to an entity.

Essentials no. 8

Black or Navy Suit

Don’t underestimate the power of a suit. We often avoid buying a suit as it costs a lot of money, but it is a versatile staple for your collection. You might need a suit on a few occasions as no one really wears it casually, which sums up the value of a suit.

Essentials no. 9

Grey Joggers

You must have seen Hollywood celebrities getting papped in grey joggers. Yes, that’s where they emerge as essential. Grey joggers are easy to style and look classy when paired with mid-top sneakers, bright-coloured hoodies, sweatshirts, or even t-shirts.

Essentials no. 10

Pair of Sweatshirts

White Sneakers

Nothing to say about white sneakers, as most of us already own one. The white sneakers trend started back in the 20th century as a street style look, and it landed in the 21st century as a wardrobe classic, and indeed, they’re not going off the trend anytime soon.
