Size Does Matter – Sony’s Holiday Makeover for the PlayStation 5

After three years of eager anticipation, Sony has taken the gaming world by storm with the dazzling debut of its revamped PlayStation 5 console. Precisely, this isn’t just any ordinary upgrade, it’s a captivating evolution of design and functionality that will leave gamers awestruck.

The PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition have undergone a remarkable transformation, not in power but in size and aesthetics. Sony proudly boasts a reduction of 30% in volume and a shedding of weight by 18% and 24%, setting a new standard for sleekness in gaming.

Sony has also revamped the removable panels and split them into four distinct parts, giving a stylish twist to the machine. The upper halves gleam with a glossy finish, while the lower halves exude a chic matte vibe. However, if you want to add a splash of colour to your console, you’ll need to purchase additional panels with matte black and the captivating Deep Earth Collection hues like Volcanic Red and Cobalt Blue, tantalizingly available in early 2024.

The real game-changer is the newly detachable Ultra HD Blu-ray drive, which you can add disc functionality to your Digital Edition console or replace a faulty drive. Sony offers this innovative drive separately, catering exclusively to the new console lineup. The PlayStation 5 now boasts a generous one terabyte of storage space, a step up from the previous 825GB, ensuring you never run out of room for your cherished gaming adventures.

Internally, the console remains consistent with the earlier version, keeping gamers in familiar territory. With all these improvements, Sony has slightly adjusted the price tag, bumping the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition to $450 (around 37,500), while the standard model still stands at $500(around 42000).
