Tata Curvv EV: Tata’s Highest Range EV Doesn’t Cut Corners

Tata Motors is no stranger to innovation in the electric vehicle (EV) space. With the Nexon EV and Tiago EV already making waves, the brand has established itself as one of India’s leading EV pioneers. But the arrival of the Tata Curvv EV marks a new chapter; one that blends style, practicality, and technology into a single forward-looking package. And with a starting price of ₹17.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the Curvv EV might just be the most ambitious offering from Tata yet. Here’s a deep dive into why the Curvv EV deserves your attention.

    500+ km of Claimed Range

Let’s start with what matters most to potential EV buyers: range. The Curvv EV boasts a claimed 502 km range on a full charge, the highest ever from Tata Motors. In real-world conditions — especially in city driving with regenerative braking and variable traffic — you can expect around 400 km, which is a significant improvement over the Nexon EV’s real-world range. This effectively eliminates the “range anxiety” that once plagued EV buyers. For urban users, this means fewer charging stops, and for highway drivers, it translates to fewer compromises.

    Super-quick Charging

Complementing the range is Tata’s focus on reducing downtime. Thanks to DC fast charging support, the Curvv EV can charge its battery from 10% to 80% in just 40 minutes. That’s a coffee break worth taking. Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway or simply need a quick top-up between meetings, this charging speed gives you peace of mind. The Curvv EV is also compatible with the growing number of public fast chargers across Indian highways and metro cities.

    The Coupe Factor

Design is where the Curvv EV truly separates itself from the pack. In a sea of boxy sub-4m SUVs, the Curvv’s sleek, coupé-inspired roofline is a bold statement. Its silhouette is more than just aesthetic; it lends the car a dynamic, premium presence that challenges convention in the compact SUV segment. The front fascia features sharp LED DRLs, Tata’s new-age EV grille styling, and an aerodynamic form that adds to both visual flair and efficiency. From the rear, the sloping roof integrates seamlessly with the tailgate, giving it the sort of road presence usually reserved for far more expensive European crossovers.

    Balanced Dynamics

Looks aside, the Curvv EV isn’t just style over substance. Built on Tata’s Gen 2 EV architecture, it benefits from a well-balanced chassis and improved weight distribution. The 50:50 weight balance and low centre of gravity, which is made possible by the floor-mounted battery, result in more planted handling. Whether you’re navigating tight city corners or cruising down expressways, the Curvv EV remains composed and confident. The suspension has been tuned for Indian roads, offering a good balance between sporty feel and comfort over potholes and speed bumps.

    Feature-Rich Cabin Experience

Step inside and you’re greeted by a feature-packed, premium interior that feels every bit as modern as the exterior suggests. Taking centre stage is a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, offering intuitive access to Tata’s latest UI, complete with connected car tech and wireless smartphone integration. Comfort is a high point as well. Ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, and a panoramic sunroof all contribute to an upmarket experience. What’s more, the Curvv EV comes with six airbags and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), which include lane keep assist, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking; all features once reserved for cars in the ₹25 lakh+ bracket.

    Storage Smartness

Tata has also ensured that the Curvv EV delivers on practicality. It offers a generous 500-litre boot, one of the largest in its class. For those who love clever packaging, there’s a frunk (front trunk) too, but it’s a rather small one. Add in a gesture-controlled tailgate, and you’ve got a car that not only thinks forward but opens like one too.

    Value in Perspective

Priced from ₹17.49 lakh, the Tata Curvv EV undercuts many of its potential rivals while offering more futuristic design and technology. When you factor in the savings on fuel and maintenance, plus applicable state EV subsidies, it becomes an even more compelling package.

    Final Thoughts

The Tata Curvv EV is not just another electric SUV. It represents a confident step forward in India’s EV evolution. A car that doesn’t force you to compromise between performance, style, or range. Its design stands out in a crowded segment, its range removes practical hurdles, and its feature list rivals vehicles from a segment above. For buyers looking for their first electric vehicle, or even those upgrading from an older EV or ICE car, the Curvv is one of the most complete packages we’ve seen from Tata Motors.
