Air India and Tata Communications have launched EasyRoam, an Air India-branded travel SIM that provides international roaming services to passengers. The service is available as both a physical SIM and an eSIM through a dedicated Air India webpage.
International roaming across 30 countries
At launch, EasyRoam will be available across 30 countries in North America, Europe, the UK, Australia, Asia Pacific and the Middle East. The SIM is currently free, although customers will need to pay for roaming packs. These plans start at INR 241, excluding taxes, with pricing depending on the destination and selected plan.
In addition, customers who purchase a data plan can receive up to 1GB of extra complimentary data. This offer applies in all supported countries except the Maldives and Mauritius.
The service is also expected to expand over time. Air India says EasyRoam will eventually offer coverage in up to 190 countries. Travellers can choose between destination-specific and worldwide plans, as well as data-only or voice-and-data options.
Simple activation and usage tracking
EasyRoam is designed to let travellers arrange connectivity before they leave for their destination. The service also provides notifications and alerts, allowing users to track their usage and manage costs while abroad.
Air India customers who choose the SIM can also keep their existing number for up to one year at a nominal cost. Tata Communications says its network partnerships with more than 600 mobile operators support connectivity across different destinations.
EasyRoam is currently available through the Air India website. It will also be offered through the Air India mobile app later.
