Sony LIV came out from the shadow and fetched the limelight with Scam 1992, but since then, nothing much appreciable has been released on the platform. Stranger Things S4

Where to watch – Netflix

What we believe is numbers, and if you look at the numbers, the 4th season of the sci-fi horror show Stranger Things is the best of all. Over the years, along with the audience, the characters have become more mature, overcoming some stereotypes they would’ve been associated with in the previous seasons. The season will go down in history, especially for the acting.

Review / Sony WH-1000XM5 – The Good Gets BETTER!

Sony has been nailing the art of perfection since they launched WH-1000X series headphones in 2016. The 6-year-old flagship active noise cancelling (ANC) headphone series is one of the most loved and has helped the company to stay one step ahead of the competition. I spent 2-weeks getting to know the recently released Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones and realised why they’re referred to as one of the best in the segment.

Design

The WH-1000XM5 headphones are the first one in the series to receive a complete redesign, and the company has named them as a noiseless design. The slimmer and lightweight headphones are way too attractive than their predecessors. The earcups are in a flattened dome shape and can swivel sideways, while the hinge of the headband is hidden. Along with the headphones, the case also looks classy and can be flattened to half when empty.

Comfort

The earcups are made of recycled soft-fit leather padding, but they no longer collapse inwards within the headband like their predecessors, which is not quite welcome. The headphones have wide padding to accommodate all types of ears, which means anyone can wear them for hours without feeling irritated. The left earcup has two physical buttons: a power button and another to switch ANC modes like ANC, ANC off, or Ambient sound modes.

Controls

Input (touchpad) > Action
  1. Swipe up > Volume up
  2. Swipe down > Volume down
  3. Swipe forward > Track forward
  4. Swipe back > Trackback
  5. Hold (centre) > Voice assistant
  6. Double tap centre> Pause/resume
  7. Cup hand > Ambient sound passthrough

Connection

You can connect the Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones to your source device via Bluetooth or TRS cable and can charge the headphones by plugging into the USB-C port, which is at the bottom of the right ear. To get the most out of these headphones for your phone, you must get the Sony Headphones Connect App (iOS/Android). The app is required for features like ANC optimisation, 360 Reality Audio, a custom equaliser and, of course, to get updates.

Audio Quality & Noise Cancelling

The headphones feature a single 30mm driver instead of 40mm like its predecessor, which made us think we would lose the signature dynamism of the WH line. Thankfully, they sound as good as the WH-1000XM4s, but not better for sure. The headphones support SBC, AAC, and LDAC codecs over Bluetooth. The sound of the WH-1000XM5 headphones is dominated by strong bass but fails lavishly when it comes to delivering premium audio quality.

The ANC of the XM5 headphone is one of the best in the market and will make sure you have a great music experience. Compared to the previous generations, XM5 offer better performance in the low end and can easily beat its competitors, such as Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 and Bose QuietComfort 45. I have used them at all the noisy places like local trains, busy streets etc., and they outperform everywhere as they drop off unwanted sounds by around 30 dB.

Microphone

The WH-1000XM5 headphones feature 8 microphones, double that of its predecessor XM4, and in terms of performance, they are impressive. The XM5 headphones arrive with an AI noise rejection algorithm, so you don’t have to think twice before receiving a call in noisy outdoors. The headphones offer good voice quality, and your callers can hear you clearly. There are some glitches in the headphones, which Sony could fix in a software update.

Battery Life

The company has claimed the headphones have a battery life of up to 30 hours with ANC enabled and up to 40 hours with noise cancelling switched off. In our testing, the headphones lasted slightly longer than advertised in both cases, with ANC enabled and disabled. The battery life is enough for a week whether you commute for 2+ hours daily or take 3+ long-haul flights. The headphones provide about 3 hours of playback in just 3-minutes of charge.

Verdict

The Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones are going to be a memorable purchase and a remarkable experience if you’re someone who travels a lot, be it commuting to work or taking several work flights. We know they are expensive, and investing ₹34,990 on headphones would be too much to gamble on, but you can’t forget the reality that they’re one of the best ANC headphones on the market.

Stop and Smell the Roses – Top 5 Unexplored Travel Destinations in India

Another year is about to lapse, and if you haven’t spent your leaves yet, it’s time to shoot a mail to your boss. Since the era of the influencer has arrived, people have started visiting unexplored places, and that’s the reason we’re running out of places now. However, being a citizen of such a vast country, even if we have 9-lives, it wouldn’t be enough for us to explore every corner of the country. So, do your bit and get that leave approved to visit a few before the year-end.

Junagadh, Gujarat

You might have heard about Hyderabad’s decision to remain an independent country after the partition of India and Pakistan in 1947. Besides Hyderabad, a few more kingdoms wanted to stay independent, and ‘Junagadh’ was one of them. Before acceding to India, the princely state (now a part of Gujarat, India) was ruled by various dynasties. No doubt, it s often referred to as a cosmopolitan city.

Junagadh is situated at the foot of the Girnar Hills and is one of the most beautiful cities in Gujarat state. The city is well connected with the rest of the major cities of Gujarat, has a railway junction and has the nearest airport about 86 kms away – the Porbandar Airport. The historically rich city has many places to attract tourists’ attention – Somnath Temple, Girnar, Uparkot Fort, Jama Masjid, Mahabat Maqbara, Asoka’s Rock Edicts, and Darbar Hall Museum.

Kapurthala, Punjab

Slaves of the crown ruled our people for about 200 years, but during their rule, they built various humongous structures throughout India, which we cherish even today. The Gateway of India, the Parliament building, the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, the Victoria Memorial, and the Bombay high court are a few of the top-notch examples of the British Gothic style of architecture and Indo-Saracenic architecture.

Kapurthala is a city in Punjab; it was once a princely state in British India and is recognised as a city of palaces. Besides British Gothic, the least populated city of India is home to several French and Spanish architecture-inspired buildings, palaces, and monuments. The city is well-connected with roadways, railways and even has an airport about 75 kms away, located at Amritsar. Kapurthala is a place where you can enjoy your vacations blissfully in the arms of heritage buildings.

Damro, Arunachal Pradesh

The northeast region of India is the most unexplored in India. The region is blessed by mother nature and away from all the hustle and bustle we usually find in metro cities. Arunachal Pradesh is a state which often gets neglected as the other six sisters are more popular amongst tourists. No doubt, it has more unexplored places. The state is popularly known as the land of the dawn-lit mountains and where the sun rises.

Damro village serves as the starting point for Arunachal Pradesh’s longest hanging bridge and is one of the best places to start your journey in Arunachal Pradesh. The town, with its thatched cane houses, suspension bridges, not-so-wild bison, and easygoing people, is a hidden path to heaven. The town has a small population of about 500 people, and the best way to reach Damro is by air (Pasighat Airport) as the nearest major railway station is about 232 kms away.

108 Mandala Top, Arunachal Pradesh

The state of Arunachal Pradesh already has hundreds of places to visit, and 108 Mandala Top is a new addition to its beauty. The place is located about 30 kms from Dirang, and to reach here, you have to be ready to deal with the bumpy rides, cold temperature and altitude. The beautiful place is relatively new (built in 2018) and has a series of 108 Buddhist stupas, each inscribed with the mantra ‘Om Mani Padme Hum’ – a first of its kind in India.

The 108 Stupas of the Mandala top have been built in a circle, and they’re very different in shape from the other stupas we find in Nepal and other parts of India. The place is not only popular for stupas but also for rare species of birds. The area around 108 Mandala Top is a paradise for bird watchers, and one can spot many birds here, along with a few migratory birds. The best way to get in here is by car, motorcycle or renting taxi from Dirang.

Haflong, Assam

Another one from north-east India, a region where lies the heaven. Haflong is surrounded by beautiful hills, gorgeous valleys, and scenic landscapes. It is the only hill station in Assam and a lovely place if you’re someone who likes to soak in nature. The place offers a peaceful getaway from the busy lifestyle, and it is one of the few places where you can enjoy a beautiful view from the balcony along with a hot cup of tea or coffee, whatever you prefer.

Haflong is often called the White Ant Hillock, maybe due to its lush greenery, beautiful lakes, mist-covered hills, streams, and waterfalls. Haflong lake is one of the most favoured picnic spots in Haflong, where you can have a quiet and memorable time with your loved ones. Jatinga – valley of death for birds or the Bermuda Triangle of Birds is 9-kms from Haflong, where you can experience the mysterious side of nature from close quarters.

Lamborghini’s BULL Connection and the list of top cars from the brand

Lamborghini was named after the founder’s surname, and its logo featured a bull, a reference to Ferruccio Lamborghini’s zodiac sign, Taurus, the bull. However, that’s not the only reason Ferruccio decided to go on with the bull logo. As a Taurus-born, he was more fascinated by bullfights, and in the early sixties, he spent some time with Don Eduardo Miura, a renowned breeder of Spanish fighting bulls in Seville.

The large, fierce, and cunning bulls from the Miura lineage have a fearsome reputation, and matadors could not dare turn their backs on them. These bulls have been referred to as individualists with strong personal characters. When Ferruccio learned about the characteristics of these bulls, he got impressed and decided to place the raging bull on the front of all his cars as an identity of the brand.

The early stable of the Lamborghini

Lamborghini 350 GT

The Lamborghini 350 GT was the first-ever production vehicle produced by Lamborghini. The car was well-received at the March 1964 Geneva auto show, which became the reason the company began the production of the car immediately in May 1964. The success of the Lamborghini 350 GT ensured the company’s survival, establishing it as a viable competitor with the sports car maker Ferrari.

The Lamborghini 350 GT was based on the earlier Lamborghini 350 GTV and originally fitted with Pirelli Cinturato 205VR15 tyres and had an all-aluminium alloy V12 engine mated to a five-speed ZF manual transmission. The car had an aluminium body, a Salisbury differential, four-wheel independent suspension, and vacuum servo-assisted Girling disc brakes all around.

Lamborghini 400 GT

In 1966, Lamborghini launched their first mid-engined supercar called the Miura, which featured a new V12 engine, which was then placed in the 350 GT, and so the Lamborghini 400 GT was born, with 2+2 seating with the revised roofline. The 400 GT 2+2 also had a Lamborghini-designed gearbox, with Porsche-style synchromesh on all gears, which greatly improved the drivetrain.

Lamborghini Miura

As mentioned above, Ferruccio Lamborghini was highly impressed with the Miura-bred bulls and decided to name his third car Miura after producing two cars with alphanumeric designations. The Miura car was a trendsetter, and with its high performance, it was a mid-engined sports car. At the time of the launch, it was the fastest production road car, with a top speed of 280 km/h.

The Miura was originally conceived by Lamborghini’s engineering team, which designed the car in its spare time against the wishes of the company founder. Ferruccio always favoured powerful yet sedate grand touring cars over the race car-derived machines produced by local rival Ferrari. However, he changed his mind when he got to see the result, and the rest is history.

Lamborghini’s love for bulls never ends here; take a look at the cars and their bull connection –

1968 – Espada

The car was named after the sword that torero – the bullfighter, uses to kill the bull.

1968Islero

The car was named after a Miura bull Islero, who killed then-famous bullfighter Manolete.

1970 – Jarama

The car was named to recall the fighting bulls bred in the Jarama river area in Spain.

1972Urraco

The car was named after a line of Miura-bred fighting bulls, which translates to little bull.

2002 – Murciélago

The car was named after a bull called Murciélago, who was a fighting bull that survived a matador’s 28 sword strokes.

2003 – Gallardo

The car was named after a historic breed of fighting bulls called Gallardo. It was one of Lamborghini’s best-selling cars.

2012 – Aventador LP700-4

The car is named after an award-winning fighting bull, Aventador, who fought valiantly in the bull ring of Zaragoza, Spain, in 1993.

2015 – Huracan LP610-4

The name Huracán comes from a Spanish fighting bull from 1879 that was known for its ‘ outstanding courage and strong sense of attack’.

2018 – World’s 1st Super SUV, Urus

The name comes from the ancestor of modern domestic cattle, also known as the aurochs.

A little about the latest one, Lamborghini Urus

When Lamborghini launched Urus, everyone was awestruck and asked the same question, A Lamborghini SUV? Really? Yes, and not only that, over the last 5-years, the Urus has turned out to be a game-changer for the Italian carmaker. After many years of teasers and leaks, Lamborghini finally revealed their new 641 horsepower Urus 4×4, a car they called the ‘Super SUV’ in 2018.

The debut SUV from the house Lamborghini has become its best-selling model not only in India but globally. Until now, the company has launched three special variants of the car Urus Pearl Capsule, Urus ST-X and the most recent Urus Performante,  which arrives with a drastic change in design and performance specifications compared to the previously launched special variants.

How Big is Lamborghini? – The outcome of revenge

How Big is Lamborghini? Big enough to get all the attention of the people passing by and fit persons as tall as 6’2″ with the exception of the Convertible Lamborghini Huracán. The company came into existence as a challenge and emerged within a short period as a luxury car maker that manufactures expensive cars that offers luxury style, high speed, and advanced technology.

If there was no Ferrari, there would be no Lamborghini

Ordinary people think only about how much they will hurt others in revenge, but very few people think first about how much they will benefit from revenge and then take steps. Ferruccio Lamborghini, the founder of Automobili Lamborghini, was one of the few. The visionary behind Lamborghini cars was born on 28th April 1916 in a farming family in Renazzo So Cento, Ferrera, Italy.

Since early childhood, he has been keenly interested in mechanical equipment used for farming rather than agriculture. Later on, when World War II was at its peak, Ferruccio was drafted into Italy’s Royal Air Force, where he served as a mechanic. He was posted at the Italian garrison on the island of Rhodes, an isolated area where he learned to repair broken-down cars, motorcycles and trucks with reused parts.

After the end of World War II, he was taken prisoner when the island fell to the Englishmen. He returned to his home after a year and opened a garage in Pieve di Cento. In 1947, he recognised the emerging market for farming equipment and developed the first-ever Lamborghini tractor, named Carioca, which he made from parts of a former military vehicle and engines and differentials from ARAR centres.

Ferruccio founded Lamborghini Trattori in 1948 to design and build tractors, and soon it became one of the largest agricultural equipment manufacturers in Italy. The tractor company helped Ferruccio to become a successful entrepreneur in the midst of Italy’s post-economic boom, and his increasing wealth granted him an opportunity to purchase expensive cars such as Maserati, Mercedes-Benz and even FERRARI.

Here comes the revenge!

In 1958, Ferruccio Lamborghini bought his first expensive car, the Ferrari 350, and in the next few years, he bought a few more Ferrari cars. However, for a long period, he was not satisfied with the performance of the Ferrari cars as they were noisy and rough to handle. He was fond of the Ferrari, and out of concern, he decided to meet Enzo Ferrari, the founder of the Ferrari cars.

Back in the 1960s, Ferrari was one of the few car manufacturers in the world who were popular for making the best sports cars, and its founder was infamous for his pride. When Ferruccio met Enzo Ferrari in person and talked about a few design suggestions and the pitfalls of the Ferrari cars, he received a notorious reply from a Ferrari owner “Let me make cars. You stick to making tractors.”

Ferruccio Lamborghini felt insulted as well as humiliated; who would not? The back-answer encouraged Lamborghini, and he decided to start his car manufacturing company along the lines of “to make a perfect car”. He hired Giotto Bizzarrini, who had designed some of Ferrari’s most recent engines at the time, and engineers Giampaolo Dallara and Giampaolo Stanzani. And this is how the great rivalry began.

The G in the Lamborghini stands for Guts

The man behind the Lamborghini established the Automobili Lamborghini in 1963 to prove Ferrari wrong and manufactured the first-ever Lamborghini car – the 350 GTV in a mere four-month time. The car was unveiled at the 1963 Turin motor show without an engine as the engineers encountered a problem with the planted engine and decided to place bricks under the hood. Gutsy, isn’t it?
