Spotify is giving users more control than ever over their playlists with the introduction of new mixing features. This latest update allows you to customize transitions between songs, effectively turning your playlist into a DJ set.
DJ Your Playlists With Spotify Mixing
The new Mix feature lets you choose how songs blend together. You can either:
- Manually control transitions with effects, EQ, and volume.
- Or use Spotify’s new Auto Mix option to let the app handle transitions seamlessly.
With this feature, you’ll be able to experiment with transitions and create a personalized listening experience, whether you’re at a party, working out, or just vibing solo.

Who Can Use Spotify’s Mixing Feature?
Currently, this feature is exclusive to Spotify Premium users and is only rolling out to a limited number of users in beta. If you don’t have it yet, keep an eye out for updates in the coming weeks.
To check if it’s available to you:
- Open any of your playlists.
- Look for the Mix button in the toolbar at the top.
- If enabled, the play button will transform into a vinyl icon.
- From here, you can enable Auto Mix or start adjusting manually.
Advanced DJ Tools Inside Spotify
With Mixing, Spotify gives you access to:
- Beats per minute (BPM) info for optimal playlist flow.
- Waveforms to help you decide the perfect transition point.
- Preset Fade and Rise options for smooth transitions.
- Tools to test effects, EQ, and volume before finalizing.
You can also save your mix and play it back to fine-tune or disable the feature to hear the original playlist.
More Playlist Customization: Canva-Style Covers
Alongside Mixing, Spotify also released a new playlist cover design tool. Similar to Canva, it allows you to create custom covers using text, stickers, labels, and images. Combined with Mixing, this means Spotify now offers more creative control than ever before.
