Nestled in the affordable segment is the Philips TAT1150BK, a pair of earbuds that promise long battery life, active noise cancellation, and a comfortable fit, all while keeping the price under control.
On paper, they look like solid everyday companions for casual listeners.
But how do they actually hold up when it comes to design, sound, functionality, and battery life?
I spent some time with them to find out.
Design
At first glance, the Philips TAT1150BK don’t scream “premium,” but they do have a few neat touches.
The earbuds are lightweight and comfortable to wear even for long stretches, making them ideal for commutes or workout sessions.

Their IPX5 water resistance rating adds peace of mind, so you don’t need to think twice before hitting the gym or getting caught in a drizzle.
The chrome plating on the earbuds gives them a distinct bit of character, standing out just enough without looking over the top.
On the flip side, the charging case feels flimsy, with a plasticky build that doesn’t inspire much confidence in long-term durability.
Funtionality
Philips has packed in a few extras, though not all of them shine.
You do get Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), activated by holding down the earbud for three seconds.
While it cancels some external noise, there’s a catch: when no media is playing, a faint static hiss lingers in the background, making the feature feel half-baked.
On the plus side, multipoint connectivity is a welcome addition at this price, letting you stay connected to two devices at once.
Call quality is also solid, thanks to the four-microphone ENC setup, which filters background noise effectively during conversations.
Sound Quality
This is where the TAT1150BK lands firmly in the “good enough” category.
The tuning is mid-focused, which makes them surprisingly decent for watching Reels, YouTube videos, or general spoken-word content.
But for serious music listeners, particularly audiophiles, they fall short.
The 13mm drivers deliver a respectable thump of bass, but it’s neither clean nor refined enough to satisfy hip-hop or EDM fans.
At lower volumes, the sound experience is pleasant and listenable, but crank them up to full, and the lack of balance becomes glaring.
Highs can get harsh, and the bass muddies quickly.
Simply put, they’re serviceable, not spectacular.
Battery Life
Battery performance is respectable, if not groundbreaking.
The buds themselves last around five hours per charge, while the case can charge them twice to thrice over.
Bluetooth 5.3 ensures mostly stable connections, and pairing is quick and painless, with no clunky companion app or mandatory updates getting in the way.
