Infinix GT 30 Pro Review: A Budget Gaming Beast That Punches Above Its Weight

    8.8 Verdict

The Infinix GT 30 Pro stands out for budget gamers, offering impressive performance, features, and style at an affordable price. With a 144Hz AMOLED display, responsive shoulder triggers, customizable RGB lighting, and effective cooling, this device excels in mobile gaming. However, it has some drawbacks, the camera struggles in low light and the GPU can throttle under heavy loads. Competitors like the Poco X7 Pro offer better performance and software longevity but miss out on the GT 30 Pro's gaming-centric features.

Overall, for gamers on a budget, the Infinix GT 30 Pro delivers an excellent gaming experience for under ₹25,000. It’s not perfect, but it comes close to being the best in its class. If gaming performance combined with style is what you need, this phone is a solid choice.

    The Good
    1. Offers strong gaming and multitasking performance.
    2. Customizable RGB lights add aesthetic appeal.
    3. Shoulder triggers enhance gaming control.
    4. Features a smooth 144Hz AMOLED display.
    The Bad
    1. Limited OS and security updates available.
    2. Glossy back panel attracts fingerprints easily.
    3. Flush shoulder triggers can be hard to access.

Mobile gaming has become a mainstream phenomenon, with titles like PUBG Mobile, Call of Duty Mobile, and Genshin Impact requiring robust hardware for smooth, immersive experiences. However, flagship gaming phones often come with eye-watering price tags, leaving budget-conscious gamers searching for affordable alternatives. Enter the Infinix GT 30 Pro, a mid-range smartphone priced at approximately ₹24,999, designed to deliver a premium gaming experience without straining your budget. But does it truly stand out as the best gaming phone under ₹25,000, or is it just another flashy contender in a crowded market? Let’s dive into this and find out.

    Build & Design

The Infinix GT 30 Pro fully adopts its gaming identity, making a bold statement with its design. It features Infinix’s “Cyber Mecha 2.0” aesthetic, and the phone stands out with sharp geometric patterns and a futuristic vibe reminiscent of a sci-fi workshop. The Dark Flare model that we received boasts four RGB strips on the back. These lights are customizable for various patterns and triggers such as gaming, calls, or notifications, giving the phone that signature “gaming phone” glow. This LED lighting is not just cosmetic. It enhances the phone’s personality, making it feel like an extension of a gaming rig.

The build quality is surprisingly solid for a budget device. Although the back panel is made of plastic, it feels sturdy and well-crafted, avoiding the cheap feeling found in some competitors’ models. The 6.78-inch flat AMOLED display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, and its flat edges provide a comfortable grip during extended gaming sessions. Weighing in at 190 grams, the phone is relatively lightweight for its size, striking a balance between portability and a premium in-hand feel. However, the glossy back tends to attract fingerprints, and the shoulder triggers, while functional, are flush with the frame, requiring some muscle memory to locate without a case. Fortunately, Infinix includes a semi-transparent TPU case that features cutouts for the triggers and RGB lights, enhancing grip and usability.

Like its predecessor, the GT 20 Pro, the GT 30 Pro offers an optional GT Pro Gaming Kit, priced at ₹1,199. This kit includes a MagCase with RGB cutouts and a MagCharge Cooler, a magnetic peltier-powered cooling fan equipped with its own RGB lighting. The cooler connects via USB-C and is compatible with other devices, such as iPhones, that support MagSafe, adding versatility. This kit enhances the gaming experience by helping to maintain optimal temperatures during intense sessions, making it a thoughtful addition for serious gamers.

    Performance

At the core of the Infinix GT 30 Pro is the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Ultimate chipset, which is built on a 4nm process. Featuring an eight-core CPU and a Mali-G615 MC6 GPU, this processor offers strong mid-range performance. The device is equipped with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM (expandable with an additional 12GB of virtual RAM) and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage, allowing the GT 30 Pro to handle multitasking, video editing, and gaming with ease. Its benchmark scores are impressive for its category, boasting Geekbench single-core and multi-core scores of 1200 and 3858, respectively, outperforming many competitors priced under ₹25,000.

The phone runs on XOS 15, which is based on Android 15. The software experience is streamlined and optimized for performance, with minimal bloatware. One of the standout features is the GT Gaming Dashboard, which includes tools such as notification blocking, FPS monitoring, and trigger mapping. Additionally, AI features like the Folax voice assistant, AI Note, and photo-editing tools (AI Eraser and Cutout) enhance the device’s versatility, making it more than just a gaming phone. However, Infinix’s software support is limited, offering only two major OS updates and three years of security patches, which falls short compared to competitors like Poco.

    Gaming

The Infinix GT 30 Pro is built for gamers, and it delivers where it counts. The 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and 2160Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate ensures buttery-smooth visuals and responsive touch input, ideal for fast-paced titles like BGMI and COD Mobile. With Krafton’s certification for 120FPS gameplay in PUBG Mobile, the GT 30 Pro offers fluid performance, though sustained 120FPS is more reliable at medium settings. Games like Genshin Impact run smoothly on medium-high settings with minimal frame drops, thanks to the 6-layer 3D Vapor Chamber Cooling System, which keeps temperatures manageable even after hours of play.

The capacitive shoulder triggers are a game-changer, offering a quick response rate and customizable mapping for precise control. These triggers mimic console controllers, giving a tactile edge in competitive games. While they lack textured guides, the included case helps with positioning. The GPU can struggle with ultra-high settings in demanding titles, and thermal throttling is noticeable during extended stress tests, though surface temperatures remain comfortable.

    Camera

The camera system on the GT30 Pro is designed with a focus on gaming, rather than photography. It features a rear setup that includes a 108MP primary sensor and an 8MP ultrawide lens, along with a 13MP front camera. In good lighting conditions, the main sensor captures vibrant, high-contrast images with decent dynamic range, making it suitable for social media. However, its performance in low light is disappointing, characterized by noisy, oversharpened images and average video stabilization. The ultrawide lens also struggles in dim lighting, and the absence of a telephoto limits its camera capabilities.

Video recording supports 4K at 60FPS, which is impressive for a device in this price range, but the stabilization and dynamic range are only mediocre. AI features like Eraser and Cutout provide some fun post-processing options, but they can’t compensate for the camera’s shortcomings.

    Battery

The GT30 Pro is equipped with a 5,500mAh battery that provides impressive endurance. Under typical usage, which includes activities like gaming, streaming, and social media, it can last an entire day, offering around 7 to 8 hours of screen-on time. While heavy gaming sessions may drain the battery faster, the phone still performs admirably. In 4K testing, the battery dropped only 8% after 30 minutes of content viewing, which is solid, though not class-leading.

One of the standout features of the GT30 Pro is its charging options. The included 45W wired charger can fully recharge the phone in approximately 70 to 80 minutes, achieving a 30% charge in just 15 minutes. Additionally, the GT30 Pro supports 30W wireless charging, which is uncommon in this segment. It also offers 10W/5W reverse wired and wireless charging, allowing it to function as a power bank. Another gamer-friendly feature is Bypass Charging 2.0, which powers the phone directly while charging to reduce heat and preserve battery health.
