Powered by Meta AI, these new effects are available on Instagram Stories and the Edits app, bringing traditional Diwali elements like fireworks, diyas, and rangoli patterns directly to your content. This update highlights Instagram’s ongoing efforts to integrate AI-driven creative tools into its platform, enhancing user experience and engagement.
What’s New in Instagram’s Diwali Effects
With the new Diwali Restyle effects, users can add textures, colors, and festive moods to their photos and videos. Instagram has introduced three festival-themed effects for images and videos:
For photos:
- Fireworks – Add sparkling firework effects for a lively celebration.
- Diyas – Illuminate your photos with traditional Diwali lamps.
- Rangoli – Decorate your images with colorful rangoli patterns.
For videos:
- Lanterns – Float glowing lanterns across your videos for a festive vibe.
- Marigold – Add marigold floral accents for a vibrant Diwali feel.
- Rangoli – Include animated rangoli patterns for dynamic celebrations.
These effects will be available until October 29 in India, the US, Canada, Singapore, and Australia.
How to Use Diwali Restyle on Instagram Stories
- Open Instagram Stories by tapping the “+” icon on your profile picture or swiping left.
- Select a photo or video from your camera roll.
- Tap the Restyle icon (paintbrush) on the top bar.
- Choose a Diwali effect: Fireworks, Diyas, or Rangoli for images, and Lanterns, Marigold, or Rangoli for videos.

How to Use Diwali Restyle in Edits
- Open the Edits app and tap “+” to start a new project.
- Select a video from Reels, Camera, or Gallery.

- Export your video once the effect is applied.
Diwali Restyle on Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses
Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses users can also join the celebrations. By saying, “Hey Meta, Restyle this,” you can instantly apply Diwali lights, fireworks, and rangoli designs to your images using Meta AI. The edited photos can be viewed directly on the Meta AI app, providing a seamless festive experience.
