ViewSonic VX2779-HD-PRO Monitor Review: Work and Play

The ViewSonic VX2779-HD-PRO is a 27-inch Full HD (1920×1080) monitor designed for gamers. It has several features highly desired by gamers, including a high refresh rate of 180Hz, a rapid 1ms MPRT response time, and compatibility with AMD FreeSync technology. These features make it a strong contender for gamers on a budget who want smooth, tear-free visuals.

WHAT WE LIKE

The VX2779-HD-PRO monitor has several impressive features, making it an excellent choice for gaming, creative work, and entertainment. Firstly, it has a high refresh rate of 180Hz, making visuals appear silky smooth, especially in fast-paced games like Vanquish or Apex Legends. The 1ms MPRT response time ensures sharp visuals during intense action sequences by minimizing ghosting and blurring.

Secondly, this monitor utilizes an IPS panel, offering wide viewing angles and good colour accuracy with 104% sRGB coverage. Therefore, it provides vibrant and accurate colours and a great viewing experience regardless of the activity.

The monitor also supports HDR10, which may not be as impressive as high-end displays but still offers improved contrast and colour depth compared to standard monitors.

Additionally, the AMD FreeSync technology synchronizes the monitor’s refresh rate with compatible AMD graphics cards, eliminating screen tearing and stuttering for a more fluid gaming experience.

Lastly, it has two HDMI 2.0 ports and a DisplayPort 1.2, allowing flexibility when connecting different devices. The monitor also includes features like a Blue Light Filter and Flicker-Free technology to reduce eye strain during extended gaming sessions.

DOWNSIDE

The first downside is that the monitor only offers Full HD resolution, which may need more for some users. Those who prefer sharper visuals should consider a higher resolution, such as 1440p, especially if they are going with a 27-inch display.

Regarding HDR performance, it’s worth noting that this monitor has some limitations compared to high-end options. While it supports HDR, the peak brightness is lower than you might find on more expensive displays. Additionally, this monitor doesn’t have local dimming technology, which can help to improve contrast and overall picture quality when displaying HDR content.

It’s worth noting that the speakers built into monitors are often not as powerful as standalone speakers. This holds true for the monitor you are using as well. To get the most out of your audio experience, it’s recommended that you use headphones or external speakers.

VERDICT

The ViewSonic VX2779-HD-PRO is a great choice for budget-conscious gamers who want a responsive and smooth gaming monitor. It has a high refresh rate, quick response time and is compatible with AMD FreeSync, making it perfect for competitive games. However, consider other options if you prioritize high resolution, premium design, or exceptional HDR performance.

ViewSonic Omni VX2728J Gaming Monitor Review: Great Visuals and Budget Pricing!

If you’re in the market to build a capable gaming desktop PC then you end up spending a bomb. There are multiple components involved in building a powerhouse PC and one of the most important part of the setup is having a good monitor. Sure, you can spend as much as over a lakh for a good display but what if you can find a capable display at just ₹16,499? This is where the ViewSonic Omni VX2728J gaming monitor comes into the picture. Check out the full review of this efficient monitor below –

ViewSonic Omni VX2728J Gaming Monitor Design

The design of the VX2728J is pretty much a standard affair. It is a simple and effective design packed and parcelled under a sleek form factor. There’s not much to complain about the design of this monitor except for the clicking buttons placed at the bottom right. The buttons and the OSD interface that pops on clicking them will remind you of yesteryear monitors. However, the design truly screams premium with a solid build quality. The minimalistic design factor of the monitor works really well. It sports a flat-screen display at 27 inches coupled with a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Setting up the monitor was not an issue as it comes with a simple VESA mount. The metal arm and stand the monitor rests on are sturdy. The overall bezels of this monitor are slim barring the bottom bezel which is slightly thicker. I wish there was a better cable management option here as the clip provided to the metal arm is not really effective.

ViewSonic Omni VX2728J Gaming Monitor Performance

Gaming monitors are expected to be 2K or 4K in the current scenario given how far PC gaming has come. However, the ViewSonic Omni VX2728J is a 1080P display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. It has a high refresh rate of 165Hz and peak brightness of 250 nits coupled with a quick response time of 0.5ms. Even at 1080P resolution, the monitor is capable of producing some immersive visuals.

The monitor sports the AMD FreeSync Premium and VESA Adaptive Sync technologies which collaborate to make up a lag-free gaming experience. The lack of 4K resolution is salvaged by the presence of AMD FreeSync and VESA Adaptive Sync but if you’re a pro gamer then this monitor will leave you asking for more, a higher resolution would have made this display an easy recommendation. Even with limitations, the VX2728J performs with flying colors. While we’re talking about colors, this display sports a wide color gamut and supports a wide range of 16.7 million colors. The color production of this monitor is a treat to look at.

I spent a big chunk of my time testing this monitor binge-watching shows on Netflix and the monitor did not disappoint when it comes to picture quality. There are a few color profiles you can choose from through settings but I found myself sticking to the ‘Standard’ mode by default. What disappoints is the speaker setup. The monitor comes with a 2×2-watt integrated speaker setup which is definitely better than some of the monitors I’ve tested recently but still underwhelming. The support for HDR10 is appreciated given the price range.

As a casual gamer and a film addict, the ViewSonic Omni VX2728J Gaming Monitor is beyond just a usable monitor. It’s capable of producing good picture quality with vibrant colors. There are some screen bleeding issues but it’s not out of the ordinary for monitors in this price category.

Verdict

One of the few complaints I could find about the ViewSonic Omni VX2728J Gaming Monitor has to be its display resolution. 1080P resolution on a 27-inch monitor does not really work even when the display is capable of producing punchy colors. However, if you can look past the resolution limitation then ViewSonic Omni VX2728J Gaming Monitor is one of the best monitors you can right now. It is a sound choice for people who do not wish to spend over 20K on their gaming monitor. The AMD FreeSync Premium and VESA Adaptive Sync technologies make this monitor a well-performing all-rounder.

ViewSonic LS610HDHE Projector Review: Sets a New Standard!

It was only at the start of this year that I reviewed ViewSonic’s X2 projector. It took me by surprise to how many features that projector managed to pack in a small form factor. When I was tasked to review the ViewSonic LS610HDHE projector, the excitement went above the roof as I was expecting another smart Android-based projector from the company. However, to my disappointment, the LS610HDHE projector is a pretty standard affair which does not cramp up features. It takes a different approach of being a projector suited for classrooms, boardrooms, and similar settings. So, is the ViewSonic LS610HDHE not worth exploring? I beg to differ as it definitely stands in a league of its own when it comes to picture quality.

Design & Features

ViewSonic LS610HDHE is rated to produce 4,500 ANSI lumens and comes with Full HD resolution at 1920 x 1080. For a business and education projector, it weighs pretty light and it won’t be an issue for users to move this one around. It also boasts some high-end features like HDR, HLG and 4K signal support. When it comes to the design, the ViewSonic LS610HDHE does not innovate in any sense but presents a known design aesthetic which was not an issue for me in any way.

What comes with the 4,500 ANSI lumens is the capacity for the projector to cut through ambience lighting and present some sharp images even in the brightest settings. Testing the projector out in a dark room was a grave mistake I made as its brightness prowess nearly blinded me for a second. What users also get here is a maintenance-free sealed light engine which keeps dust and moisture away from the lens.

Performance: Beyond Impressive

One of the few reasons why people opt for projectors is to get the best picture quality out of their films and series. On the performance side, the ViewSonic LS610HDHE is one of the best projectors you can buy right now. It not just produces a sharp picture quality but takes it a notch further by allowing users to choose between multiple color modes. Users get to choose between Brightest, Standard, Photo, Movie, User 1 and User 2 options. The ‘Brightest’ color mode has a green tint to it and is suitable only for ambiences with plenty of light. I found myself sticking to either standard or movie mode during my testing of the projector.

LS610HDHE houses a standard control panel on the top which allows users to quickly play around with the settings. It houses a power button and keystone buttons coupled with color mode, menu, source, and more. There is also a handheld remote control which gets the job done with ease.

The projector also houses a standard 10W speaker system which works well enough given it’s not the premium Harman Kardon speaker system which the X2 boasted. The projector can handle 4K content generally but downscales it to 1080P. I watched films like Avatar: The Way of Water & Spider-Man: No Way Home during my testing of the projector and I was glued to the superior picture quality of it.

Verdict

If you’re in the market looking for a capable projector and do not obsess over smart Android features which modern projectors offer then the ViewSonic LS610HDHE is definitely the one for you. It produces some punchy colours which can be enhanced furthermore using the color management features.

ViewSonic X2 Projector Review: Versatile King

It was in late November 2022 when the ViewSonic X2 projector launched in India, five months after its global release. The projector is placed sweetly right over the entry-level segment for a price of Rs 1,43,517, however, its launch price was up to Rs 2,25,000. With the X2, ViewSonic has put heavy emphasis on smart features for viewing content and gaming thanks to its low input lag. So, does the ViewSonic X2 actually make up for a capable entertainment experience? The answer is definitely yes! Check out the detailed review below –

Features

The ViewSonic X2 is a native 1080P projector with a short throw lens. It is packed with 3100 Lumens on the 1080P resolution that allows it to produce bright images under even fairly lit room conditions. It is packed with HDR10 and ViewSonic’s native Cinema SuperColor+ technology that allows the projector to produce vibrant colours. In the title of this review, I’ve called the ViewSonic X2 a ‘Versatile King’ and that is due to its flexible installation settings, connectivity options, and ample ports like USB-C, USB-A, and HDMI. However, what seals the deal to make it one of the best overall performers in the projector market are the premium Harman Kardon speakers that are loud and crisp. The software experience on the other hand is fairly average as the X2 houses an app store of unknown origin. Users can sideload app stores like Aptoide which works with no issues. However, the native app store does offer apps like Netflix for your streaming pleasure. Special mention for its included remote as the backlit feature is aesthetically pleasing.

Performance

During my extensive testing of the ViewSonic X2, I watched hours’ worth of content. Its lightweight form factor made it easy to be carried from the office to my home and back from time to time which was definitely a plus point. The Full HD content produced by the ViewSonic X2 is clear, sharp, and vibrant. However, the out-of-the-box colour calibration did need some work before it was a smooth ride. It has six picture modes for both HDR and SDR which are labelled as Brightest, TV, Gaming, Movie, User 1, and User 2. Most of the content I watched on the projector was done through streaming applications. The highlight of my streaming experience on the ViewSonic X2 was binge-watching the original Home Alone trilogy on Christmas Eve. The in-built Harman Kardon speaker is surely a treat to the ears as it is capable of producing rich and loud sound even in outdoor settings.

Verdict

There is a lot to love in the ViewSonic X2 projector as it provides a number of features at a reasonable price. There is surely a lot of room for improvement in its apps and app store functionality but can be looked over thanks to its overall cinematic experience.

Viewsonic VP2785-4K Professional Monitor

Viewsonic has been a known and respected name in the monitor domain and I had the pleasure to use their wide-gamut VP2785-4K monitor for a month so I noted a few things after rigorous use.

When you are all up for creating content, 4K is the resolution of choice. This one is a thin-bezel 27-inch monitor with a high-quality IPS panel. It is a prime-pick monitor for photographers, video-editors, packing great color accuracy and calibration. There is absolutely no bleeding when viewing a dark screen at typical brightness levels.

The monitor has a contrast ratio of 1,000:1, a brightness of 350 cd/m², 99 per cent AdobeRGB, and 96% DCI-P3 color coverage making it ideal for digital cinema content and photography.

The colors came out to be nice and punchy and I got to taste some rich and vibrant colors. However, when you are sitting a few feet away from the monitor, the angle to the corners appear brighter. The good thing is, it’s only visible when you are looking for it.

Viewsonic offers a nice utility and a well-rounded professional monitor with this one. The bezel around the screen is just a thin 1mm line, with a 1.5cm panel along the bottom to frame the control buttons and ambient light sensor. There is also an automatic brightness adjustment feature to make working more comfortable as lights change. It also offers a color uniformity feature that intends to keeps colors consistent across the screen. The frameless design provides a seamless viewing experience in a multi-monitor setup.

The mount is simple, sturdy, and ergonomically friendly, providing height, tilt, swivel, and pivot adjustment. Connections include four USB 3 ports, one USB-C port, two HDMI 2.0 ports, DisplayPort and mini-DisplayPort inputs, and two 3.5mm audio jacks (one audio-in and one audio-out). It provides Windows and Mac OS system users with user-friendly management of 60W power charging, large-quantity data transmission, and video display.

The monitor is capable of displaying multiple sources at once. So if you have a computer plugged into the Display Port, you could also plug in your TV box or another laptop using HDMI, mini-display or USB-C and then have all sources shown on the monitor. You can also have the same source displayed twice but each with a different profile. For example, one could be shown in AdobeRGB and the other would use the iPhone color profile. This functionality allows photographers and designers to simultaneously view and edit images while using separate color settings, virtually combining the work of two monitors into one.

The screen can also be pivoted to 90 degrees for photographers and editors to work in portrait orientation. Auto Pivot mode allows photos to automatically adjust to the screen’s orientation when pivoted.

The VP2785-4K offers 4K UHD resolution to its 27-inch screen, for a high pixel density of 163 pixels per inch.

Conclusion

Viewsonic VP2785 cost around Rs 1,14,300 and can be discounted at a much lower price on some 3rd party platforms, and you can consider buying it to match neatly with your workflow and needs.
