Xiaomi TWS 3 Pro Confirmed to Launch on September 27

Xiaomi will roll out True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earphones 3 Pro on September 27. These earbuds will launch alongside the Xiaomi Civi Smartphone in China. The teaser poster with design details, colour options, and key features suggest that the company is looking at it to be a premium product.

Xiaomi True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earphones 3 Pro will support active noise cancellation and have an in-ear design with a slight stem at the bottom. The noise cancellation is teased to be offered at up to 40dB.

Although all the other details should unveil at the launch event, we might have a slight idea of what you can expect.

The Xiaomi TWS 3 Pro is sporting an in-ear design with silicone ear tips and a slightly elongated step stretching out at the bottom to integrate sensors and mics. The charging case has an egg-shaped design with an LED light for battery indication. The earbuds have a matte black finish but it is also likely to come in other options at launch.

Meanwhile, reports also suggest that the Xiaomi TWS 3 Pro earbuds may be similar to the company’s FlipBuds Pro earbuds. If true, it may feature Qualcomm aptX Adaptive compatibility for high-resolution audio playback. It will also have a  low latency mode to offer minimal lag while playing competitive games.

Xiaomi Civi, which is launching alongside the earbuds is said to feature a curved display, anti-glare glass back, triple rear cameras, and a slim form factor. According to the leak, the phone is tipped to be priced at CNY 2,699 (roughly Rs. 30,700) for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage option, CNY 2,999 (roughly Rs. 34,200) for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage, and CNY 3,299 (roughly Rs. 37,600) for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage option.

Mi Smart Band 6 To Raise The Standards Of Budget Fitness Bands?

While lockdowns are finally being lifted across the whole of India, many people are now considering exercise and fitness seriously into their everyday routine. This is a good time for Xiaomi to launch the MI Smart Band 6, the latest addition to their popular fitness tracker lineup.

The new Mi Smart Band 6 features SpO2 measurement and now has the ability to track more exercises than the Mi Smart Band 5. It is priced at Rs 3,499 in India, but the owners of previous MI Band models can avail of an extra discount of 500, dropping the price to Rs 2,999.

The Mi Smart Band 6 only comes in a black strap, but you can buy different coloured straps to customise your fitness band. The Mi Smart Band 6 looks somewhat identical to its predecessor, the Mi Smart Band 5, but the difference is apparent when the display lights up. While the Mi Smart Band 5 had a small rectangular display, the one on the Mi Smart Band 6 stretches to the edges of the capsule and has very thin bezels at the top and sides.

The underside of the capsule has pins for charging the 125mAh battery in the band. There are sensors for heart rate and SpO2 tracking just right above the charging pins. Since all navigation in the MI Band 6 is touch-based, there are no physical buttons on the band.

The Mi Band 6 is water-resistant up to 5ATM, and can therefore also track swimming. The battery on the Mi Band 6 claims to provide 14 days backup in a single charge.  The Mi Band 6 allows quick replies to calls with preset messages. The company also claims that this wearable has 30 different fitness modes and can automatically detect six types of workouts. You can track steps, distance, and sleep on the Mi Smart Band 6 along with SpO2 and stress tracking, as well as menstrual cycle tracking.

Mi Smart Band 6 can last for between 8-10 days with reasonable use, so it is still a good fitness wearable for the price.

Xiaomi Launching Redmi TV Today As Part of Make In India Efforts

Xiaomi is all set to roll out a new Redmi TV in India today afternoon. The electronics-manufacturing company entered the smart TV business a few years ago with the MI branded televisions and expanded the Redmi TV series earlier this year. The company aims to produce more affordable smart TVs just like it produces affordable smartphones.

The new Redmi TV will come in two different screen sizes; 32-inch and 43-inch. The new Redmi TV will be launched during an online event. The launch event will start at 12 noon. The live stream of the Redmi TV launch will be available on Xiaomi’s official YouTube channel, social media handles and website.

The exact features and price will be revealed during the event, but what we know for now is that the TV will have 20W speakers and support for Dolby Audio and DTS Virtual: X for surround sound.

Xiaomi has also confirmed that the new Redmi TV will feature Android TV 11 out of the box. It will further be complemented by Xiaomi’s own PatchWall on top. The operating system also includes IMDb integration which allows viewers to check the ratings of movies and shows directly from the content page.

Other features include dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, auto low latency mode and much more. The display will use the Vivid Picture Engine. The TV comes as part of Xiaomi’s Make in India efforts.

It is expected that the 32-inch variant may cost even less than Rs 20,000. To recall, the Redmi Smart TV X Series was launched in March this year in three sizes. The price for the 50-inch variant was Rs 32,999, Rs 38,999 for the 65-inch variant, and Rs 57,999 for the top-end 65-inch variant.

Xiaomi Launches Xiaomi Smart Glasses Which Can Make Calls And Capture Photos

Xiaomi is challenging Facebook in the wearables arena by launching one of its own. Just a few days after Facebook and RayBan rolled out their smart glasses, Xiaomi launched a new pair, with much more interesting specs than the two.

The Xiaomi Smart Glasses, which goes by the same name, looks pretty much like normal shades and weigh around 51 grams.  They pack a MicroLED display built into the right lens, a 5-megapixel camera on the front, a quad-core ARM processor, a battery, a touchpad on the frame, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

Interestingly, MicroLED is a type of display similar to OLED but has a higher pixel density, longer lifespan, a simple structure that according to Xiaomi allows for easier integration into the glasses. The Xiaomi Smart Glasses do not have a fancy display to allow light to easily pass through them. It packs a monochrome display that can show you things like a clock, texts, and navigation instructions.

These smart glasses can display messages and notifications, make calls, navigate, make calls, navigate, capture photos, and translate text right before the user’s eye.

When put under a microscope, the display is roughly the size of a grain of rice, with individual pixels sized at 4μm. This enables the display to be fitted perfectly within the frame of the glasses. By adopting optical waveguide technology which refracts lights at 180°, the MicroLED display accurately transmits light beams to the human eye through the microscopic grating structure of the optical waveguide lens.

The company explains:

“The grating structure etched onto the inner surface of the lens allows light to be refracted in a unique way, directing it safely into the human eye. The refraction process involves bouncing light beams countless times, allowing the human eye to see a complete image, and greatly increasing usability while wearing. All this is done inside a single lens, instead of using complicated multiples lens systems, mirrors, or half mirrors as some other products do.”

Xiaomi has integrated a total of 497 components, including miniature sensors and communication modules, into the Xiaomi Smart Glasses. The company also claims that its smart glasses are not just a second display for the smartphone, but functions as a new smart terminal with independent operating capabilities.

Key interaction logic has also been implemented in the device to minimize interruptions at inconvenient times, and display important information timely when critical.

Xiaomi has not said anything related to the availability and pricing of the device but it is expected that markets could start from its native country, China.

Xiaomi Showcased Its Debut Smart Glasses Inspired By Iron Man’s EDITH

Xiaomi has revealed its first pair of new smart eyewear, Xiaomi Smart Glasses, right before the one day of its mega event to steal attention from Apple’s thunder. The ordinary-looking smart glasses from Xiaomi are actually beyond the ordinary; they are loaded with various smart features, including navigation, real-time text translation and MicroLED optical waveguide technology.

The Xiaomi Smart Glasses weighs only 51 grams and can display messages, notifications, make calls, help you navigate using augmented reality (AR), capture photos and even translate text. Recently, Facebook also launched similar smart glasses called Ray-Ban Stories in collaboration with RayBan and, before even landing on buyers eyes, raised a privacy concern.

Design:

Xiaomi defines the recently revealed Smart Glasses as “an engineer’s look into an advanced future”. The Xiaomi Smart Glasses have a squarish round frame with a metal bar on top, making them appear more like Iron Man’s smart glasses ‘EDITH’. In contrast, Facebook’s Ray-Ban Stories has adopted the iconic Ray-Ban Wayfarer design that first appeared in the late ’80s.

Display:

The Xiaomi Smart Glasses adopt the MicroLED backlighting technology to lower the design space and overall weight. The monochrome display can reach a peak brightness of 2 million nits to save you from looking at harsh sunlight directly. The display chip measures only 2.4mm x 2.02mm, and it’ll appear roughly the rice-grain size under the microscope, with individual pixels sized at 4μm.

Features:

The left hinge of the Xiaomi Smart Glasses packs a 5MP camera which can also be used as a scanner for real-time translation. The company also states the Smart Glasses can transcribe audio into text with translations in real-time. The Smart Glasses runs on an Android operating system and have a built-in microphone.

It is also equipped with a quad-core ARM processor, battery, touchpad, and support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The pricing and availability information of Xiaomi Smart Glasses is not revealed yet, but the company might launch the glasses first in the Chinese market before hitting on the Global market.

Xiaomi Officially Announced Its Electric Vehicle Business Unit, Xiaomi EV Inc.

Chinese tech giant Xiaomi, known for making affordable smartphones, has officially registered its electric vehicle business and announced its new company, Xiaomi EV Inc. The smartphone giant has completed formal procedures and said the division had entered a substantial development phase in producing its first EV car.

The electric vehicle division of Xiaomi was set up with a registered capital of 10 billion yuan (roughly $1.55 billion), and Xiaomi Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Lei Jun will lead the new business unit. The confirmation about Xiaomi’s EV division comes after the smartphone giant acquired Beijing-based self-driving technology start-up DeepMotion for $ 77.4 million.

The company has already hired over 300 new employees for its electric vehicle enterprise and plans to spend more than $1.5 billion on the electric vehicle business unit in the next ten years. The company hasn’t revealed much about its new electric vehicle unit but has plans to expand further in the EV business.

On the lines with Xiaomi, few other companies wish to enter the electric vehicle business, and the list includes prominent companies such as Apple, Huawei, Baidu and others. According to tipsters and industry experts, Xiaomi might launch a full-fledged EV car in the future or provide hardware and software solutions to the big automakers.

Xiaomi announced its electric vehicle unit when its core business is at its peak. The smartphone making company reported record revenue in its Q2 and pulled behind its local rival, Huawei. The smartphone division of Xiaomi is now the world’s second most profitable company after the South Korean tech giant, Samsung.

The electric vehicle team of Xiami has conducted a massive amount of user research in the last five months and working on its further plans. Currently, Tesla is a household name for electric vehicles, and if Xiaomi enters a full-fledged electric car-making business and offers their automobiles at a reasonable price like their smartphones, then in the next few years, we could see Xiiami topping the EV making list.
