Apple just dropped something pretty exciting today. It’s the MacBook Neo, their most affordable laptop yet, kicking off at just ₹69,900 (about $599 globally, and even lower at ₹59,900 for students).
This feels like Apple’s big push to bring the Mac magic to way more people, including students, first-time buyers, or anyone who wants that smooth macOS experience without dropping a fortune on a MacBook Air or Pro.
The design keeps that classic premium Apple vibe with a sturdy aluminium body. Still, it’s now coming in some fresh, fun colours like blush (a soft pinkish tone), indigo (deep blue), silver, and a vibrant new citrus (think zesty orange-yellow). It looks sharp and feels solid in the hand.

The screen is a 13-inch Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2408×1506, hitting 500 nits brightness and supporting a billion colours. Whether you’re scrolling through social media, editing photos, or binge-watching shows, everything pops with nice contrast and vivid hues.
Under the hood, it’s running on Apple’s A18 Pro chip, the same powerhouse from the iPhone 16 Pro lineup. Apple claims it’s up to 50% faster for daily tasks like browsing or streaming compared to the top-selling PC with an Intel Core Ultra 5, and up to 3x faster for on-device AI tasks (like fancy photo edits or AI features in apps). It’s snappy for everyday use, content creation, and even dipping into Apple Intelligence tools.
Battery life is solid too, up to 16 hours on a single charge, so you can easily get through a full day of classes, work, or travel without hunting for a plug.

For calls and video chats, there’s a 1080p FaceTime HD camera paired with dual microphones for clear sound. Audio gets a boost from dual side-firing speakers with Spatial Audio support, making movies and music feel more immersive.
It comes loaded with macOS Tahoe, which includes all the usual suspects, including Safari, Messages, Pages, and tight integration with your iPhone. Plus, it plays nicely with tons of third-party apps.
John Ternus, Apple’s SVP of Hardware Engineering, summed it up nicely: “MacBook Neo is built from the ground up to be more affordable for even more people. It features a durable design, brilliant display, powerful performance, and a range of intuitive features.”
Apple’s MacBook Neo pre-orders are live now, with devices shipping starting March 11. If you’ve been waiting for a more budget-friendly way into the Apple ecosystem, this could be the one that finally pulls you in.
