Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy S26 series in San Francisco, introducing what it calls its most intuitive and proactive AI smartphone lineup yet. The new range includes the Galaxy S26, S26+, and the flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra, and marks Samsung’s third generation of AI-first smartphones designed to simplify everyday tasks.
At the core of the S26 series is a shift toward “agentic” AI, which is technology that works quietly in the background, reducing the steps between intent and action. Features like Now Nudge proactively suggest relevant content based on context. For example, if a user receives a message about a meeting, the device can automatically check for calendar conflicts. If someone asks for photos from a recent trip, it can surface the most relevant images instantly.

The series also integrates upgraded Bixby alongside third-party AI agents such as Gemini and Perplexity. These allow users to execute multi-step tasks, like booking services or navigating settings, with natural voice prompts across apps .
Built-in Privacy Display Debuts on S26 Ultra
A standout feature of the Galaxy S26 Ultra is the world’s first built-in Privacy Display for smartphones. Unlike traditional stick-on privacy filters, this integrated solution controls how pixels disperse light, keeping the display clear for the user while limiting side-angle visibility when activated . Users can customise when the feature turns on, such as during password entry or while using selected apps.
Powerful Performance and Improved Cooling
All three Galaxy S26 series phones run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset, delivering up to 19% CPU improvement, 39% NPU boost, and 24% GPU gains over the previous generation. To support sustained performance, Samsung has redesigned the vapour chamber cooling system to dissipate heat more efficiently. It also introduces Super Fast Charging 3.0, capable of charging up to 75% in around 30 minutes with a 60W adapter .
Upgraded Camera System

Photography remains central to the S26 Ultra. The device features a 200MP wide camera (f/1.4), 50MP ultra-wide (f/1.9), 50MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom (10x optical quality), 10MP 3x telephoto, and a 12MP front camera. Wider apertures allow up to 47% more light on the main sensor compared to its predecessor, enhancing low-light performance.
AI-powered tools within Photo Assist enable natural-language edits, while the new APV codec supports high-quality, efficient video workflows . The S26 series also includes AI-powered Document Scan for automatically correcting distortions and compiling multi-page PDFs .
