Sandisk has officially announced the rebranding of its internal SSD lineup, now known as SANDISK Optimus. This new branding reflects the company’s commitment to performance, engineering excellence, and a legacy of trust in flash memory, catering specifically to gamers, creators, and professionals.
The SANDISK Optimus product range includes three distinct lines: SANDISK Optimus, SANDISK Optimus GX, and SANDISK Optimus GX PRO. Each line is arranged to meet the diverse needs of consumers, from casual gamers to professional developers.

As per SANDISK, the updated product packaging and design draw inspiration from Sandisk’s innovation and established branding while allowing for future expansion of their offerings. The bold aesthetic aims to resonate with consumers and highlight the company’s dedication to delivering innovative solutions.
Heidi Arkinstall, VP Global Consumer Brand and Digital Marketing at Sandisk, noted that the SANDISK Optimus™ brand aims to redefine performance for consumers. “Our products span multiple segments and with this change, we are making it easier for consumers to find the right solution for their needs,” she said.

The SANDISK Optimus portfolio is segmented to help customers navigate their choices more intuitively:
- SANDISK Optimus: This product line serves as a benchmark for performance, targeting content creators who require faster, smoother computing experiences. These drives deliver a blend of speed and affordability, previously known as WD Blue, including the WD Blue SN5100 NVMe SSD.
- SANDISK Optimus GX: Designed for gamers, this line prioritizes rapid load times, increased capacity, and energy efficiency. This range was previously branded as WD_BLACK™, including the WD_BLACK SN7100 NVMe SSD.
- SANDISK Optimus GX PRO: The flagship of the SANDISK Optimus brand, this line is engineered for professionals and gamers seeking the highest performance levels. The SANDISK Optimus GX PRO features cutting-edge storage technologies and greater capacity, evolving from its previous branding as WD_BLACK, including the WD_BLACK SN8100 NVMe SSD.

Anil Moolchandani, VP of Product Management Client at Sandisk, emphasized the trust consumers have in the company’s internal drives. “The new SANDISK Optimus branding perfectly matches the strength of our portfolio,” he stated. Moolchandani added that these internal SSD products are capable of addressing the demanding needs of developers and gaming environments.
