Sony India has launched the RX10 V camera in India. The company showcased it on September 2 as the fifth-generation model in its RX10 series of all-in-one cameras.
The camera is aimed at hobbyists, enthusiasts, and wildlife photographers who want one camera for everything. It uses a ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* 24-600mm lens with a 25x optical zoom and an F2.4-4.0 aperture. This range covers wide shots and super-telephoto shots in a single body, so photographers don’t need to carry multiple lenses.
The camera also supports macro shooting. It can focus as close as 3cm at the 24mm end and at 600mm, it can shoot tele-macro from about 72cm away.
AI-powered autofocus tracks moving subjects
Sony has added Real-time Recognition AF to the RX10 V. This AI system recognises humans, animals, birds, insects, cars, trains, and aeroplanes. It has an Auto mode that identifies the subject type on its own. The AI system can also do human pose estimation, so the camera can track a subject even when they turn away from the lens or wear a helmet or sunglasses. Users can also tap a subject on screen to start Real-time Tracking, which automatically follows the subject.
The RX10 V calculates autofocus and auto-exposure up to 60 times per second. It shoots continuously at up to 30fps with full AF and AE tracking, and does this without blackout. This means photographers can capture fast subjects, like sports or wildlife.
Image quality and sensor
The RX10 V uses a 1.0-type stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor with about 20.1 effective megapixels. It pairs this with the BIONZ XR image processing engine, which reduces noise at mid-to-high ISO levels. This helps in indoor and low-light shooting.
The camera includes 12 Creative Look presets for in-camera colour and tone adjustments. It also has an upgraded D-Range Optimizer, which now goes up to Lv8. This balances highlights and shadows better, especially in backlit portraits.

Video features
The RX10 V records 4K video at 120p. This allows slow-motion playback up to 5x in 4K resolution. Active Mode image stabilisation keeps handheld footage steady.
The camera supports S-Cinetone and S-Log3 for colour grading. It can also import up to 16 user LUTs, so users can preview their colour grade while shooting in Log mode. An Auto Framing function uses AI subject recognition to keep the subject centred during recording automatically.
Design, display, and battery
Sony has carried over design ideas from its Alpha mirrorless series. The button layout and grip are intuitive, and an eight-direction multi-selector supports quick adjustments while looking through the viewfinder.
The RX10 V gets a larger 0.5-type Quad-VGA OLED viewfinder with about 3.68 million dots. The rear LCD monitor is now 1.62 million dots, up from the previous model. Battery life has also improved. The NP-FZ100 battery now lasts up to 630 shots, about 50% more than the RX10 IV.
The camera has a dust- and moisture-resistant build, along with Wi-Fi and USB Type-C support. It can live-stream at 4K 30p over USB-C. It also works with Sony’s Creators’ App, which lets users send files to the cloud or a phone and control the camera remotely.
