Meta’s instant messaging service, WhatsApp, now has a native app for Apple iPads. WhatsApp Messenger is officially available for download from the App Store, with an interface designed specifically for the iPad’s larger screen. The application is fully compatible with iPadOS multitasking functionality and supports iPad-centric accessories like the Apple Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil.

Note: WhatsApp for iPad is not a standalone app. It functions as a companion app and must be linked to your smartphone.

WhatsApp for iPad: How to Download and Set Up

Follow these steps to download and set up WhatsApp on your iPad:

    1. Open the App Store on your iPad and search for WhatsApp Messenger.
    2. Tap Get to download and install the app.
    3. Launch the app and tap Continue on the welcome screen.
    4. A QR code will appear for account linking.
    5. On your smartphone:
      • Open WhatsApp and go to Settings (iPhone) or Menu (Android).
      • Tap Linked Devices > Link a Device.
    6. Use your smartphone to scan the QR code shown on your iPad.
    7. Follow the in-app instructions to finish the setup.

Once the devices are linked, your WhatsApp chats will sync across both your smartphone and iPad.

    WhatsApp for iPad: Supported Features

The iPad version of WhatsApp supports all core messaging and calling functionalities. This includes:

    • Viewing Communities and Channels
    • Making audio and video calls
    • Supporting group calls with up to 32 participants

Available Sections in WhatsApp for iPad:

    • Updates: View Status and Channels
    • Calls: Initiate audio/video calls, join via link, and use a dialpad
    • Communities: View or start new communities
    • Chats: Access and reply to messages and groups
    • Settings: Customize your name and adjust app settings

The layout mirrors the WhatsApp Desktop version, with recent messages on the left and active conversations on the right. Additionally, Meta AI can be accessed from the Search bar at the top of the Chats page.
