Xiaomi launches REDMI Note 17 Pro Series in India with 10,000mAh battery

Xiaomi India has launched the REDMI Note 17 Pro Series, its latest entry in the mid-range smartphone segment. The lineup focuses on battery life, durability, camera performance and everyday speed. The launch includes two models: the REDMI Note 17 Pro and the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max.

Sandeep Singh Arora, Chief Business Officer at Xiaomi India, said, “We are pushing the boundaries of what consumers can expect from a mid-range smartphone.” He added that the goal is to give users more freedom, more confidence and more capability, without asking them to compromise on price.

    Specs & Features

Battery life is Xiaomi’s prime focus. The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max has a 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery and comes with 100W Xiaomi HyperCharge. The REDMI Note 17 Pro has a smaller but still substantial 9,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, with 67W HyperCharge. The charger is shipped with the phones, so users don’t have to buy it separately. Both phones also support wired reverse charging.

Xiaomi have gone overboard and spent significant time designing the phone to be durable. Both phones get a Double Five-Star Quality Certification from SGS and TÜV. They also use Corning Gorilla Victus 2 for scratch and drop protection. On top of that, the phones have IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings, providing protection against dust and both low- and high-pressure water jets.

Both models share the same 6.83-inch AMOLED display. It’s rated at 1.5K resolution (2772 x 1280), with a 120Hz refresh rate and 12-bit colour depth. Peak brightness reaches 3,500 nits. Xiaomi has added TÜV Triple Eye Protection and Wet Touch 2.0; the Pro Max goes a step further with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support.

Camera specs differ slightly between the two models. The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max uses a 50MP main camera with an f/1.5 aperture and a 6P lens, plus an 8MP ultrawide camera. It can record 4K video at 30fps, or 1080p at up to 60fps. The front has a 32MP camera with an f/2.2 aperture and supports 4K video at 30fps.

The REDMI Note 17 Pro gets a 50MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture and a 5P lens, along with an 8MP ultrawide camera. Its front camera drops to 16MP, with an f/2.4 aperture, HDR support and AI Beautify.

Both phones have various shooting modes, including Live Moments, Portrait Mode, Ultra HD Mode, Panorama, Pro Mode with presets, Dual Video and Underwater Mode. Xiaomi says Underwater Mode will come in a later update, so it won’t be available at launch.

The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max runs on the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 Mobile Platform. It comes with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.1 storage. The REDMI Note 17 Pro uses the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 Mobile Platform instead. Along with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

    Software and updates

Both phones ship with Android 16 and Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3. Xiaomi is promising 4 years of software updates and 6 years of security patches. Most phones in this price bracket offer much less.

    Price and availability

The REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G goes on sale from September 17. It starts at ₹36,999 for the 8GB+128GB variant, and goes up to ₹39,999 for the 8GB+256GB variant.

The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G arrives about a week later, on September 23, 2026. It starts at ₹49,999 for the 8GB+256GB variant, and goes up to ₹55,999 for the 12GB+256GB variant.

Both phones will be available on mi.com, Amazon.in and at Xiaomi retail stores.
