The developer beta of Apple’s iOS 18.2 software has come bearing good news. It brings the second batch of Apple Intelligence features to developers, even as the stable iOS 18.1 update prepares for a full release, with features like smarter Siri and notification summaries in tow.
What’s in the iOS 18.2 Developer Beta?
The reason you should be excited about this release is that it comes with a number of striking features that were showcased by Apple during its WWDC conference this year. Here’s a list of them.
Image Playground:
This feature uses generative AI to create images based on your text prompts. Image Playground is integrated into various Apple apps like Messages, Notes, Keynote, Pages and more.
Image Wand:
This is something budding artists will love. Image Wand lets you create simple sketches and have Apple Intelligence turn them into polished artworks. Multiple options are presented to the user, letting them choose the ones they like.
Visual Intelligence:
This powerful AI-driven technology enhances image recognition and processing capabilities by enabling smarter photo analysis, augmented reality applications, and real-time object detection.
Genmoji:
Genmoji is like Image Playground but for emojis. It can be used to create new emojis to match any moment. You can use standard text prompts to create distinct emojis to brighten up your chats.
ChatGPT in Siri:
Siri gets some much-needed smartness with ChatGPT integration that allows it to provide more contextually aware, nuanced, and dynamic responses while handling more complex queries.
Writing Tools:
While Writing Tools were already available via the previous developer beta, they get enhanced capabilities with the addition of the “Describe your change” text field. This means users can now provide a brief explanation of the edits or adjustments they are making to a document or content.
Availability
All iPhone models with iOS 18 are eligible to download the latest iOS 18.2 developer beta 1, but the Apple Intelligence features will only be enabled for those with the iPhone 15 Pro models and iPhone 16 and 16 Pro models.
