boAt is adding generative AI to its audio devices. The company has partnered with Google Cloud to launch Crest AI, a platform that runs on Google Gemini and brings voice-driven, conversational features to its next-generation audio lineup.
Crest AI moves beyond basic voice commands. Instead, it lets users hold natural conversations with their devices. The platform uses Gemini Live to understand context, follow complex queries, and respond in real time, so a user doesn’t need to phrase requests as fixed commands.
The collaboration also targets India’s linguistic diversity. boAt and Google Cloud say the platform can understand regional dialects and nuances on top of standard English or Hindi. Voice assistants have historically struggled with India’s range of languages and accents.
Crest AI also connects to Google Workspace. Users can manage Gmail, Google Tasks, and Google Calendar through voice, turning their earphones or speakers into hands-free productivity tools. For instance, a user can say “help me respond to that email” or “schedule a meeting for me,” and the device handles it.

The platform includes two other features: Crest Translate offers real-time, two-way translation, so users can communicate across languages during conversations. Crest Ask, on the other hand, functions as a general-purpose conversational assistant. It helps users learn new things, brainstorm ideas, ask questions, or simply chat, while keeping up with the context.
Sameer Mehta, co-founder and executive director at boAt, said voice is becoming the most natural way to interact with AI. He added that boAt already has millions of devices in people’s ears, giving the company a direct path to bring AI experiences to a wide audience through affordable, everyday products.
Sashi Sreedharan, managing director at Google Cloud India, called voice and vernacular language the next frontier for AI in India. He said Gemini Live helps make that shift possible, and Google Cloud’s infrastructure will let boAt scale the platform to millions of users.
The companies haven’t announced pricing or availability details for Crest AI-powered devices yet. boAt is expected to share more information as the lineup rolls out.
