With Valentine’s Day around the corner, Instagram is rolling out a set of limited-edition creative tools aimed at making Stories, Reels and DMs feel more festive — and more personalised. Alongside it, Edits, Instagram’s companion creative app, is introducing themed tools that will remain available beyond the holiday window.
On Instagram, the Valentine’s Day updates are temporary, live from February 12 to 16. The platform has added new fonts and animated text effects tailored to the occasion, allowing users to inject themed typography into Stories and Reels. Love-themed photo sticker frames offer another visual layer, while custom mention stickers make it easier to tag partners or friends in a more expressive way.
There’s also a playful, interactive element built in. Certain Story comments and Notes can trigger secret themes and animations when specific phrases are used. Even DMs are getting a seasonal refresh, with a dedicated Valentine’s chat theme available in both light and dark modes.

The emphasis is clearly on boosting engagement through small but visually distinctive changes. None of the features radically alter how the app functions, but they do provide additional creative levers for users who treat Instagram as a daily storytelling platform.
Edits, however, gets a more lasting enhancement. The app now includes Valentine’s Day-themed fonts and text presets, along with sound effects such as harp music and heartbeat tones to add mood to Reels. A notable addition is the ability to speed up videos by up to 100x, enabling exaggerated or dramatic visual effects.
While Instagram’s festive features are time-bound, the new tools on Edits will remain available going forward — signalling Meta’s continued push to strengthen its in-house short-form editing ecosystem.
For creators and casual users alike, the update offers timely seasonal flair — and a reminder that social platforms are increasingly competing on creativity, not just connectivity.
