Instagram has rolled out a new Link Reels feature that lets creators connect their reels together, making it easier for audiences to follow episodic or themed content. The update comes in response to the growing popularity of “Reels series,” where creators publish related videos around a single topic or story.
With this new option, one reel can now be linked to another, helping viewers seamlessly continue watching connected content. Both new uploads and previously posted reels can be linked, giving creators flexibility to build longer series over time. However, there are a few restrictions on subscriber-only reels and those shared with close friends cannot be linked.
This update not only helps creators organize their content but also encourages audiences to stay engaged by watching more videos in sequence.

How to Link an Instagram Reel
Here’s how you can add a linked reel when uploading new content:
- When creating a reel, tap Link a reel below the caption box.
- Select the reel you want to link (only one can be added).
- Enter a title of up to 15 characters, or keep it as “Linked reel.”
- Tap OK to confirm your choice.
- Finally, hit Share to publish the reel with its link.
Tips for Adding a Title
- The title of the linked reel will only appear on the connected reel.
- Titles can be edited or removed anytime.
- If no title is added, Instagram automatically sets it as Linked reel.
- Titles are limited to 15 characters.
Linking an Already Published Reel
If you want to connect a reel you’ve already posted:
- Open your reel and tap on the right side of the screen.
- If no link exists, select Add linked reel.
- If a link already exists, tap Edit linked reel.
How to Edit or Remove a Linked Reel
Creators also have the option to manage linked reels after publishing:
- On the Edit linked reel screen, tap Change reel to select a different one.
- To remove the connection, tap Unlink, then confirm by tapping again.
- Once unlinked, the reel will no longer appear on the original linked video.
