Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025 kicks off on June 9, and the spotlight is firmly on iOS 19. Described by Bloomberg as “one of the most dramatic software overhauls” in Apple’s history, iOS 19 is expected to bring game-changing visual upgrades, advanced AI features, and a more seamless ecosystem experience across Apple devices.
New Design Drawn from visionOS
Internally codenamed Solarium, iOS 19 introduces a bold new design language influenced by visionOS, the operating system behind Apple’s Vision Pro headset.
Expect to see:
- Transparent panels
- Subtle motion effects
- Highly dynamic UI elements
Apple is also updating app icons with rounded shapes, and redesigning native apps like Messages and Apple Music to include floating navigation bars and more intuitive layouts.
The Messages app, in particular, may shift its search bar to the bottom for faster access, along with enhanced list spacing to boost readability.

Better Navigation and Consistency
Under a broader initiative known as Luck, iOS 19 will aim for deeper consistency across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
This means:
- Unified gestures and interface layouts
- Easier device switching with a more predictable user experience
- A truly cohesive ecosystem feel
Camera and Health App Redesigns
The Camera app is getting a complete overhaul, staying true to the visionOS design language. The new layout will feature:
- Just two main modes at the bottom: Photo and Video
- Additional controls like flash and Live Photos moved to the top for quick access
Meanwhile, the Health app is also getting smarter. iOS 19 introduces a new AI-based wellness coach that delivers:
- Personalized fitness guidance
- Video sessions led by health experts
- New tracking tools including food monitoring, which may fully launch in iOS 19.4
Smarter Battery and Siri
Battery life is getting a boost with AI-powered optimization. iOS 19 will:
- Learn your usage patterns
- Adjust background activity and charging behavior
- Display charging time estimates right on the lock screen
Siri is also going through a major transformation. Apple is merging its current platforms into one unified AI-powered model, resulting in:
- Deeper contextual awareness
- Natural conversations
- Better understanding of complex commands
Apple Intelligence and AI Integration
With iOS 19, Apple is going all-in on AI. As part of a larger initiative called Apple Intelligence, the company is developing support for third-party AI models like:
- Google’s Gemini
- Anthropic’s Claude
- Perplexity
These models may complement ChatGPT, expanding intelligent features not just on iPhones but also across other Apple devices, including the Apple Watch.
