Optoma has taken a significant step forward in India’s premium home cinema space with the debut of its most advanced projector yet, the UHR90DV. Currently being showcased at Listening Labs in Mumbai through an invite-only viewing experience, the projector marks several first, not just for the brand, but for the global home theatre market.
The UHR90DV is Optoma’s first RGB triple-laser home cinema projector and notably the world’s first to carry both Dolby Vision and IMAX Enhanced certifications. And although a price tag hasn’t been disclosed yet, representatives have informed the press that it could be upwards of ₹15 lakh.
In that sense, it’s aimed squarely at enthusiasts who want theatrical accuracy rather than exaggerated visual processing.
The UHR90DV possesses a feature set that prioritises fidelity. Support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+, IMAX Enhanced and Filmmaker Mode ensures content is displayed as its creators intended, with dynamic metadata optimising brightness and contrast on a scene-by-scene basis.
Colour performance is a major highlight. By using dedicated red, green and blue laser light sources, the UHR90DV achieves up to 96 per cent coverage of the BT.2020 colour gamut, approaching professional cinema standards in both vibrancy and tonal depth. Filmmaker Mode further reinforces its purist credentials by disabling motion interpolation and other post-processing enhancements.
Beyond image quality, Optoma has focused on real-world usability. A brightness rating of 5,000 ISO lumens, a claimed 4,500,000:1 contrast ratio, and motorised lens controls with memory allow flexible installation, even in spaces that aren’t fully light-controlled.
Longevity and sustainability also form part of the narrative. A 30,000-hour triple-laser lifespan, eco-conscious materials and low-carbon packaging underline Optoma’s intent to pair cutting-edge performance with responsible design.
We’ll have more on the Optoma UHR90DV once the makers are ready with a price tag for it
