Samsung Unveils Galaxy Z TriFold, Introducing a New Era of Multi-Fold Smartphones

Samsung Electronics has officially introduced the Galaxy Z TriFold, a next-generation foldable device designed to expand the company’s leadership in mobile form factors. Building on a decade of experience in foldable technology, the Galaxy Z TriFold brings a multi-folding design that aims to balance portability, performance and productivity. When fully unfolded, the device reveals a 10-inch display, offering an experience that blends smartphone mobility with tablet-level versatility.

According to TM Roh, CEO and Head of Samsung’s Device experience division, the launch reflects Samsung’s long-standing push to redefine the boundaries of mobile innovation. The TriFold is positioned as a device engineered to address a key industry challenge: delivering a powerful and portable device that can transition seamlessly into an expansive workspace.

The Galaxy Z TriFold incorporates insights gathered from years of observing how users interact with foldable products. Its inward-folding mechanism protects the main display, while an auto-alert system notifies users of incorrect folding. At just 3.9 mm at its thinnest point, the device packs flagship specifications including a customized Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy, a 200-megapixel camera, and Samsung’s largest foldable battery of 5,600 mAh three-cell system designed for balanced power distribution and all-day use. It also supports 45 W fast charging.

Samsung redesigned key components to support the TriFold’s unique structure. The new Armor FlexHinge uses two differently sized hinges with a dual-rail system for stable folding and a minimized screen gap. The 10-inch dual-folding display incorporates a reinforced coating and shock-absorbing layer to enhance durability. Exterior materials include titanium hinge housing, Advanced Armour Aluminium for rigidity, and a ceramic-glass fiber polymer back panel that aims to keep the device thin yet resilient. Each device also undergoes detailed inspections such as CT and laser scanning to verify precise assembly.

The large display plays a central role in productivity features, enabling users to run three portrait-sized apps simultaneously, resize windows and maintain uninterrupted multitasking. The taskbar allows quick access to recent apps, while familiar Samsung features have been adapted for the larger screen. Notably, the TriFold is the first phone to support standalone Samsung DeX, offering up to four workspaces with multiple apps running in each.

It also packed with Galaxy AI to offers creative tools like Generative Edit and Sketch to Image, while features such as Browsing Assist aim to streamline everyday tasks. Gemini Live integration adds multimodal AI support for real-time contextual assistance.

For entertainment, the 10-inch display offers minimized creasing, up to 120 Hz refresh rate on the cover screen and peak brightness levels of 2,600 nits on the cover display and 1,600 nits internally.

The Galaxy Z TriFold launches in South Korea on December 12, 2025, followed by China, Taiwan, Singapore, the UAE and the U.S. However, the launch in India is still unknown, but it should arrive within 5 months of global launch.
