Meta Lays Off Reality Labs Employees: VR & AR Future Influence

Meta has confirmed it is laying off employees in its Reality Labs unit, the group responsible for its virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies, including the successful Quest VR headsets. The majority of employees laid off work at Oculus Studios, the division in charge of creating VR/AR games and content.

This is not the first time Meta has trimmed its workforce. Earlier this year, the company fired 5% of its staff, targeting underperforming employees. These actions are part of Meta’s overall approach to optimizing operations and remaining competitive within the rapidly evolving tech sector.

Elon Musk’s xAI Unveils Grok AI with Vision, Multilingual Voice, and Memory Features

Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, xAI, has launched a powerful new feature for its Grok chatbot called Vision. This cutting-edge addition enables Grok to analyze real-world objects, text, and environments using a device’s camera in real-time.

Grok Vision is now available for free on both Android and iOS, offering capabilities similar to existing features found in OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google Gemini.

With Grok Vision, users can scan and ask questions about real-time images from objects and symbols to documents simply by pointing their camera and asking. Whether it’s a business card, office gate, or wristwatch, Grok answers instantly as the camera moves, offering a seamless augmented reality AI experience.

Instagram Uses AI to Catch Teens Impersonating Adults, Meta Announces

Instagram is embarking on a new initiative to safeguard young users by employing artificial intelligence (AI) to identify teenagers who are likely lying about their ages on the platform, parent company Meta Platforms announced on Monday.

According to Meta, the firm has already been using AI to make guesses about users’ ages. Instagram will now actively detect accounts that it believes are run by teenagers, even if the account was created with a misleading birthdate. This is part of an effort to make the platform safer for younger users.

Xiaomi India Launches Redmi Watch Move Smartwatch

The Redmi Watch Move is intended to enhance daily activity, whether helping a morning run, handling work reminders, or making hands-free calls on the move.
