ZEISS Expands India Optics Portfolio with Conquest Apia 65 Spotting Scope

ZEISS has introduced its Conquest Apia 65 spotting scope in India, expanding its optics lineup with a product aimed at birders, wildlife enthusiasts, and conservation professionals. The launch comes at a time when interest in field observation and citizen-led conservation is growing, supported by India’s biodiversity, which includes over 1,300 bird species.

According to the company, the Conquest Apia 65 has been designed to balance optical performance with portability and usability in field conditions. The spotting scope is positioned as a tool for accurate observation and documentation, particularly in environments where lighting and terrain can be challenging.

Kunal Girotra, Regional Head of the Photonics and Optics Division at ZEISS India, said the product addresses the increasing demand for high-performance yet accessible optical solutions in the country. He added that the device is intended to support activities ranging from wildlife tracking to broader conservation initiatives.

The Conquest Apia 65 incorporates ZEISS T* coating and delivers up to 87 percent light transmission. This enables brighter and higher-contrast images, particularly in low-light scenarios such as early morning observations or dense forest environments. The spotting scope offers a magnification range of 20x to 50x, allowing users to switch between wide-area scanning and detailed subject viewing.

Designed for field mobility, the device measures 299 mm and weighs approximately 1.3 kg. ZEISS claims it is up to 25 percent shorter than comparable models, making it easier to transport across diverse terrains, including wetlands, forests, and mountainous regions. The aluminium-magnesium construction is intended to provide durability without adding excessive weight.

The Conquest Apia 65 features a focus on ergonomic design, with smooth focus and zoom controls aimed at improving handling during prolonged use. The placement of the focus wheel is designed to offer better balance and ease of access, contributing to stable viewing in field conditions.

ZEISS is also offering a range of accessories to complement the spotting scope. These include a stay-on protective case, a control lever for one-handed operation, and a digiscoping adapter that allows users to connect smartphones for capturing images and videos. The device is also compatible with Arca-Swiss tripod systems for added stability.

The ZEISS Conquest Apia 65 is priced starting at ₹1,44,999 and will be available through authorised retailers as well as e-commerce platforms, including Amazon and Flipkart.
