Commuting across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) is about to get a major upgrade. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched ‘Mumbai One’, a unified mobility app that integrates ticketing across 11 public transport operators, bringing a seamless travel experience to millions of daily commuters.
After nearly two decades since earlier attempts at a unified ticketing system failed, the Mumbai One app promises to revolutionize how people travel across the city and surrounding areas. The app allows passengers to book tickets for five metro lines, monorail, suburban trains, and buses in Mumbai, Thane, Mira-Bhayander, Kalyan-Dombivali, and Navi Mumbai.
A senior Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) official highlighted the convenience of digital ticketing:

With Mumbai One, commuters can:
- Purchase a single ticket for journeys involving multiple modes of transport.
- Access real-time updates, including journey status, expected arrival times, and alternate routes.
- View map-based information for nearby stations, tourist spots, and emergency services (SOS).
- Plan trips by entering start and end points, with the app recommending available transport modes, interchange points, and fare details.
A top official from Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) added that the app also helps commuters schedule trips and select alternate travel options, making daily travel smoother and safer.
The launch of Mumbai One marks a significant step towards digital and integrated mobility for the MMR, providing a modern, convenient, and user-friendly travel solution for the city’s residents and visitors.
