Google has announced a significant update to its Chromebook Plus lineup, bringing in a suite of AI-powered tools designed to enhance productivity, simplify tasks, and unlock creative potential. These new features range from screen-based search to advanced AI text simplification and image creation tools.
Screen Selection for Smarter Search and Instant Actions
The newly introduced screen-takeout feature works similarly to Google Lens and Chrome on Android’s Circle to Search. Users can long-press the launcher icon or use the screenshot option to select content on their screen. Google will immediately search the selected area.
Additionally, users can highlight text to quickly add events to the calendar, making everyday actions more efficient.
Quick Access to AI Image Generation and Writing Tools
Chromebook Plus devices now feature an upgraded “quick insert” button. Originally launched to trigger shortcuts, it now gives direct access to:
- AI image creation tools
- AI-based writing assistance
This integration allows users to generate visuals or improve their writing seamlessly within supported apps.

Simplify Complex Text with AI
The new Simplify feature enables users to use AI to define, simplify, or summarize any highlighted text. This is particularly useful for breaking down dense content or understanding technical language in a more digestible format.

All new Chromebook Plus buyers will receive a 1-year subscription to the Google AI Pro plan at no additional cost. This bundle, valued at $240/year, includes:
- Access to the Gemini app

- Gemini integration in Gmail, Docs, and Chrome
- 2TB of cloud storage
Exclusive AI Tools on Lenovo’s Chromebook Plus 14
Lenovo’s new Chromebook Plus 14 comes with two exclusive AI enhancements:
- AI-suggested tab and document organization
- Photo editing in the Gallery app, including background removal and custom sticker creation
The device also features a 13-inch OLED touch display, powered by an ARM-based MediaTek Kompanio Ultra processor, with 12GB or 16GB RAM options. Prices are set at $649 and $749, respectively.
