Facebook is rolling out powerful new features powered by Meta AI, and they are all about making your profile and posts more creative. The latest update lets users animate their profile pictures, restyle old photos, and even add animated backgrounds to text posts.
Meta says the aim is to give people more ways to express themselves without needing professional editing skills.
Here is everything new in the latest Facebook update.
Animate Your Profile Picture With AI
One of the biggest highlights is the ability to turn a simple profile photo into a short animation.
Users can now apply preset animation effects such as:
- Natural movement
- Confetti celebration
- Party hat
- Wave effect
- Heart animation
Meta says more animation options, including seasonal effects, will be added over time.
For the best results, Facebook recommends using a clear image of a single person facing the camera, without objects covering the face. You can select a photo from your camera roll or from pictures already uploaded to Facebook.
Once animated, the new profile photo can also be shared to your Feed.
Restyle Feature Brings Old Photos Back to Life
Facebook is also introducing a feature called Restyle. This tool allows users to completely change the look of photos in Stories and Memories using AI.
After choosing a photo, users can:
- Apply preset effects
- Enter a custom text prompt to generate a new look
- Choose styles like anime or illustrated
- Add moods such as glowy
- Adjust lighting effects like ethereal
- Change colour tones
- Replace backgrounds with options like a beach or cityscape
Facebook may also recommend older Memories that you can refresh and repost using these new effects.
It is designed to make your old photos feel new and creative again.
Animated Backgrounds for Text Posts
Text only posts are also getting an upgrade.
When creating a text post, users can tap the rainbow “A” icon to choose from different still or animated backgrounds. Options include designs like falling leaves or ocean waves.
Meta says seasonal backgrounds will also be introduced in the future.
This means even simple text updates can now look more dynamic in the Feed.
Why This Update Matters
With these new Meta AI features, Facebook is clearly focusing on creativity and personal expression. Users no longer need third party editing apps to create eye catching profile photos or stylish posts.
From animated profile pictures to AI powered photo restyling, this update makes it easier than ever to stand out.
If you enjoy customising your profile and refreshing old memories, this could be one of Facebook’s most exciting updates in recent times.
More features are expected to roll out gradually.
