Apple is reportedly gearing up for one of its biggest artificial intelligence upgrades yet, and all eyes are on a smarter, more powerful Siri. Expected to take centre stage at WWDC 2026, the revamped assistant could mark a major shift in how users interact with their iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

According to reports, Apple is working on a redesigned version of Siri as part of its broader Apple Intelligence platform and this time, it is not just an upgrade. It could be a complete transformation.

A Smarter, More Context Aware Siri

The upcoming version of Siri is expected to go far beyond simple voice commands. Apple is reportedly enhancing the assistant with deeper contextual awareness, allowing it to understand and act on information from emails, messages, notes, and more.

    This means Siri could soon:

    1. Handle multi step and complex tasks seamlessly
    2. Offer personalized responses based on your data
    3. Execute actions across multiple apps without manual input

The goal is simply to make Siri feel less like a tool and more like a true AI assistant.

Chatbot Like Interface with a Dedicated App

In a surprising move, Apple is also said to be testing a standalone Siri app for iPhone. This new interface could bring a more conversational, chatbot style experience similar to modern AI tools.

    Expected features include:

    1. A chat based UI for natural conversations
    2. Access to conversation history
    3. Easy switching between voice and text inputs
    4. Ability to upload documents and images for analysis

This shift could redefine how users interact with Siri, moving away from quick commands to deeper, ongoing interactions.

    Better Answers Smarter Summaries

Apple is reportedly improving how Siri delivers information as well. Users can expect

    1. More detailed and structured responses
    2. Bullet point summaries for clarity
    3.  Enhanced insights from web sources
    4. Improved summaries from Apple News

These upgrades aim to make Siri more useful for everyday queries, research, and quick information consumption.

Competing with Google Gemini and Perplexity

Apple’s push into advanced AI appears to be a direct response to tools like Google Gemini and Perplexity AI, which already offer conversational search and intelligent responses.

To stay competitive, Apple is reportedly integrating a customised version of Gemini AI into its ecosystem. This collaboration could power Siri’s next generation of intelligence, making it faster, more accurate, and significantly more capable.

    Delays and Expected Launch Timeline

While the upgrades sound promising, they have not been without challenges. Reports suggest Apple has faced performance and reliability issues, leading to delays in development.

Originally expected to roll out with iOS 26, the new Siri features may now debut with iOS 27 instead. However, Apple is still likely to preview its AI roadmap and showcase these innovations at WWDC 2026.

    A New Era for Siri

Siri will still be accessible via voice commands and the iPhone’s power button, but the addition of a standalone app signals a much bigger ambition. Apple is not just upgrading Siri it is reimagining it for the AI era.

If these changes deliver as expected, Siri could finally evolve into the intelligent, conversational assistant users have been waiting for and potentially reshape the future of AI on iPhone.
