Revolutionizing Water Purification: An In-Depth Look at the Urban Company Native M3 Pro

How important is it to drink clean and safe water? In today’s highly industrialized world, drinking right from the tap can be surprisingly harmful to your health. Municipal and groundwater supplies are often compromised by invisible threats, from high total dissolved solids (TDS) and heavy metals to bacterial contaminants and chlorine. Relying on untreated tap water can lead to severe long-term health issues. Naturally, to combat this, the market is completely flooded with water purifiers, each bragging an array of acronyms – RO, UV, UF, MTDS that leave consumers confused. In this crowded space, the Urban Company (UC) Native M3 Pro attempts to stand out. It brings a premium water purifier packed with smart features right to your smartphone app. More importantly, they claim an unprecedented 3 years (or 18,000 litres) of filter life with absolutely no service or Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) required, which is a highly unique proposition in an industry notorious for hidden maintenance costs. But does it actually do the job? Let’s find out.

    BUILD & DESIGN

Right out of the box, the Native M3 Pro feels like a genuinely premium home appliance. It features a clean, minimalist, and modern design that looks robust and futuristic when mounted on a kitchen wall. Beneath its exterior, the build quality is exceptional; the chassis stays rigid without any creaking when pressed. One of the M3 Pro’s most important upgrades is its storage tank. It utilizes a surgical-grade 304 stainless-steel 6-litre storage tank, backed by a reassuring 10-year warranty. This steel tank eliminates the risk of microplastics. It also helps prevent the water from developing a plastic taste as the machine ages, improving long-term hygiene compared to standard plastic tanks.

The front panel houses an excellent dot-matrix display that brings real personality to the machine. It provides live feedback, showing a real-time input TDS range, output TDS, tank water level, and the ambient temperature on a single, easy-to-read screen. Below the screen, responsive touch controls offer distinct dispensing modes: glass, bottle, and free flow. The water outlet even lights up during dispensing, making it easy to fill a glass in the dark accurately.

However, the design is not without flaws. The stainless-steel tank and robust filtration hardware make the M3 Pro slightly bulkier and heavier than older models like the Native M2. A rather surprising omission for a premium purifier is the lack of a built-in drip tray in the box. You must hold your vessel while filling, though Urban Company plans to sell a tray as a separate accessory. Additionally, while the purifier remarkably features a built-in battery that keeps it dispensing during a power cut, the water flow drops noticeably; filling a standard bottle can take up to thirty seconds on battery power compared to fifteen seconds on mains.

    SMART FEATURES

The Native M3 Pro’s smart capabilities upgrade it from a simple kitchen appliance to a modern, connected device. The UC companion app serves as a complete dashboard and service hub, with a clean, well-considered interface that displays relevant data without unnecessary clutter. Once connected via Wi-Fi during initial setup, the app lets you monitor daily water usage, real-time TDS history, and the remaining life of the RO membrane.

The standout smart feature is custom dispensing. Through the app, you can set exact volume presets for your specific glass and bottle. Once programmed, a single tap on the purifier’s front panel fills your vessel perfectly, without manual intervention or overflow risk. This removes all the guesswork from your daily routine.

Maintenance tracking is incredibly transparent. Instead of an arbitrary timer that forces you to buy filters prematurely, the app accurately monitors the 18,000-litre filter capacity. It also features a one-touch Auto Health Check, which runs a full diagnostic sweep across internal hardware like the booster pump, sensors, and the in-tank UV system. You get an instant status report on your phone, so you don’t need to call a technician just to find out whether the machine is functioning properly. For everyday operations, the purifier works flawlessly offline, though you need to sync it with the app periodically to keep your data updated.

    WATER QUALITY

When it comes to purification, the M3 Pro cuts no corners. It utilizes a rigorous 10-stage filtration process that includes RO, UV, Copper, and Alkaline treatments. Many modern purifiers bypass the RO membrane with raw water to maintain TDS levels, but the M3 Pro relies on 100% RO filtration, ensuring no raw water ever enters your drinking supply. The machine is a powerhouse, capable of handling highly contaminated water and validated for input TDS levels up to an impressive 2,000 PPM.

Because 100% RO strips water of its natural minerals, Urban Company reintroduces them using an advanced DualFlow Mineralizer. Unlike standard cartridges, water passes through this mineralizer from both sides, ensuring an even, consistent dose of calcium, magnesium, and copper. This prevents the taste from drifting over the years, ensuring the water tastes clean, crisp, and refreshing from day one to year three.

The filters last longer due to an anti-scale cartridge that prevents clogging from calcium and magnesium, common in hard-water areas. The purifier features Smart Rinse Auto-Clean, which adjusts the membrane flushing time based on water hardness, rinsing briefly on soft water and longer on hard water. In tests with TDS levels of 600 to 900 PPM, the M3 Pro consistently produced output below 50 PPM. Additionally, an in-tank UV sterilization system ensures no bacterial growth in the stainless-steel tank.

    VERDICT

The Urban Company Native M3 Pro, priced at ₹25,999, is ideal for households with high TDS, hard water, or unreliable supply. While it may be overkill for those with clean municipal water below 300 PPM, its robust features and unconditional three-year warranty (covering filters, labour, and parts) offer excellent value. Despite its slightly bulky size and lack of a drip tray, it delivers premium smart features, a hygienic stainless-steel tank, and consistently safe, great-tasting water, fulfilling its promises effectively.
