Apple’s CarPlay Ultra Infuses Aston Martin Cars With Expanded Experiences, More Cars Are In Line Too

In an unexpected announcement, Apple and Aston Martin have showcased CarPlay Ultra, an expanded version of CarPlay that doesn’t stay limited to the infotainment screen.

This means the new platform is designed to perfectly integrate with the instrument cluster, while keeping all the essential information on it unchanged, and within the confines of the carmaker’s design blueprint.

Aston Martin has worked closely with Apple to come up with the unique look of the instrument cluster design of Apple CarPlay Ultra.

Drivers can now display both iPhone content like maps and music, along with vital car data directly on the instrument cluster.

And Apple has revealed that it’s already working with the likes of Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis to bring the Ultra version to their vehicles.

As can be spotted in the images, CarPlay Ultra provides content for all the driver’s screens, with dynamic and beautiful options for the speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, and more.

Drivers can choose to have information from their iPhone, like maps and media, right in the instrument cluster.

They can also use on-screen controls, physical buttons, or Siri to manage both standard vehicle functions like the car’s radio and climate, as well as advanced, vehicle-specific features and controls.

Apple’s new CarPlay Ultra brings iPhone-powered widgets that seamlessly adapt to your car’s display or instrument cluster.

Apple says that CarPlay Ultra has been designed in a way that allows manufacturers to integrate its distinct design philosophy with the look and feel their customers expect.

One of the results of the same can be custom themes that are crafted in close collaboration between Apple and the automaker’s design team.

For now, Apple CarPlay Ultra is limited to certain Aston Martin models sold in the US and Canada, but who’s to say other carmakers won’t jump onto this opportunity in the near future?
