AXOR Unveils MX Carbon Off-Road Helmet

AXOR, the premium helmet brand from Vega Auto, has unveiled the MX Carbon, an off-road helmet that the company claims is the world’s lightest triple-certified model. Weighing approximately 1,050 grams in the large shell, with smaller shell sizes expected to be around 50 grams lighter, the helmet uses a predominantly carbon-fibre shell and meets ECE 22.06, DOT and ISI certification requirements.

According to AXOR, the MX Carbon has been developed around the challenge of reducing helmet weight without compromising the certification standards expected from performance-oriented riding gear. The company has optimised the use of carbon fibre, along with the helmet’s construction and manufacturing processes, to reduce weight and minimise fatigue during extended off-road riding and technical terrain.

The helmet, the company says, is the result of Vega Auto’s nearly three decades of experience with carbon fibre and composite engineering. The firm apparently began working with carbon fibre in 1998 and has since built capabilities in composite manufacturing and helmet engineering. It has also invested around ₹2 crore in composite manufacturing and expanded its composite division to three times its 2020 capacity.

Designed and manufactured at Vega Auto’s facilities in Belgaum, Karnataka, the MX Carbon brings carbon-fibre development, composite manufacturing and helmet engineering under one roof in India. The company says the product represents a globally benchmarked lightweight helmet developed and manufactured domestically.

The MX Carbon also forms part of Vega Auto’s broader lightweight engineering roadmap. The company plans to use its carbon-fibre and composite expertise to develop future helmet platforms and introduce lightweight engineering technologies across its existing portfolio.
