BMW India launches the 3 Series Gran Limousine in India.

BMW India has launched the new BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine in the country. Produced at BMW Group Plant Chennai exclusively for the Indian market, the car will be available in both petrol and diesel variants at all BMW India dealerships from today onwards. The long-wheelbase ‘Gran Limousine’ is a new addition to the BMW 3 Series family. It takes on the position of the longest, most spacious and comfortable car in its segment and sets a new benchmark in the class. It offers sportiness, comfort and innovation exclusively for the Indian market.

Mr Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India said, “The 3 Series is the soul of the BMW  brand and has won over millions of customers around the world. The ultimate sports sedan has now set the ultimate standard in luxury in a new form – the BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine.  With its elongated design, enhanced space, luxurious comfort and dynamic performance, the new BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine has a unique and captivating character. It delivers sheer driving pleasure and indulges in superlative luxury, making it a perfect choice for individuals as well as the family. The Gran Limousine has been tailored with an innovative proposition that will  attract young, progressive Indians who want a perfect combination of sporty performance and  higher practicality for family usage in this segment.”

The new Beamer blends the joy of driving and the outstanding comfort of an extremely spacious sedan. The grandeur rises many notches higher, thanks to a modern design with a larger, elongated body and bigger rear doors. Due to the extended wheelbase,  there is more room to unwind, more legroom for rear passengers and a pleasant seating experience even on long journeys. The powerful engine ensures a thrilling performance and acceleration. The long list of indulgence features, such as Panorama Glass Sunroof, Comfort  Seats in front, bespoke ‘Vernasca’ leather upholstery, luxurious rear seat, Parking Assist with  Reverse Assist, Ambient Lighting, BMW Live Cockpit Professional and Wireless Charging adds to its appeal.

The Gran Limousine is available in two attractive design schemes – Luxury  Line and the exclusive M Sport ‘First Edition’ which is limited to the launch phase only. Luxury Line indulges movement in style and endows elegance. M Sport ‘First Edition’ bestows a  masculine character with distinguished M elements evoking the racing spirit. The additional features of M Sport ‘First Edition’ are BMW Heads-Up Display, BMW Gesture Control, Comfort  Access and Surround-view cameras with 360 view including top, panorama and 3D view.

The exterior body design of the new BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine blends the new,  extremely precise design language and sporting aura of the BMW 3 Series with distinctive proportions. The unique character in long-wheelbase guise stems from an extra 110  millimetres of wheelbase and the associated increase in seating comfort and legroom in the rear compartment. Encompassing an exterior length of 4,819 millimetres and a 2,961- millimetre wheelbase, the exterior dimensions of the new BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine outstrip those of any other car in its class.

Creating a striking front look is a large BMW kidney grille with a single surround for the two elements and LED headlights with extended features. BMW’s hallmark sporting prowess is embodied here by short overhangs, a long bonnet and a set-back passenger compartment.
The model’s stretched silhouette underscores its inherent elegance and hints at the enviable spaciousness of the interior. The sporty look is created by the slim three-dimensional L-shaped  LED taillights along with two large freeform tailpipes.

The interior is designed to accentuate grand cabin spaciousness. The rear doors are 110 millimetres longer than those of the BMW 3 Series sedan, allowing for an extra 43 millimetres of legroom in the rear compartment, which sets a new benchmark in the class. The comfort-oriented character is highlighted through improved padding and pampering Vernasca leather upholstery of the rear seats, newly designed headrest and the central armrest between the rear seats. The large 480 litres luggage compartment meets the needs of long-distance travel. The automatic tail-gate operation increases access convenience by enabling the boot lid to be opened/closed at the press of a button.

The M Sport ‘First Edition’ has Comfort Access which goes a step further and allows completely hands-free operation of the boot lid. The Welcome Light Carpet, projected from the side sill, welcomes passengers in glamorous style. Added to which, the car comes with illuminated door sill plates. The driver and front passenger settle into electrically adjustable Comfort Seats with Sensatec door trim. The driver-focused cockpit includes a sports leather steering wheel in Luxury Line and M leather steering wheel in M Sport ‘First Edition’ with multifunction buttons along with the instrument cluster/control display grouping. The modern design of the centre console with galvanic embellisher adds to the cabin’s premiumness. Filling up the cabin with a sense of spaciousness is the large Panorama sunroof. Ambient lighting with six dimmable designs creates an atmosphere for every mood. In another model-specific feature, the ambient lighting also includes an illuminated contour strip on the back of the front seats. Three-zone automatic climate control with active carbon filters optimizes air quality. The optimised acoustic properties reduce noise levels and make the journey peaceful.

The two-litre four-cylinder petrol engine of the BMW 330Li produces an output of 258 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm at 1,550 – 4,400 rpm. The car accelerates from 0 -100 km/hr in just 6.2 seconds. The two-litre four-cylinder diesel engine of the BMW 320Ld produces an output of 190 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm at 1,750 – 2,500 rpm. The car accelerates from 0 -100 km/hr in just 7.6 seconds.

The eight-speed Steptronic sport automatic transmission performs smooth, almost imperceptible gearshifts. At any time, in any gear, the transmission collaborates perfectly with the engine, enabling it to develop its full power and efficiency. For even greater driving pleasure, it comes with steering wheel paddle shifters and cruise control with braking functions. Using Launch Control, ambitious drivers can achieve maximum acceleration with optimized traction from a standstill. Using the Driving Experience Control switch, the driver can choose between different driving modes to suit the driving conditions – ECO PRO,  Comfort, Sport and Sport+.

A host of BMW ConnectedDrive technologies continue to break the innovation barrier in the automotive industry. Modern cockpit concept BMW Live Cockpit Professional includes  3D Navigation, a 12.3-inch digital instrument display behind the steering wheel and a 10.25
inch Control Display. The occupants can operate several functions simply by speaking to their BMW Virtual Assistant. Hands do the talking with BMW Gesture Control that recognizes six pre-defined hand movements for control of many functions (available in  M Sport ‘First Edition’). The smartphone holder integrated into the centre console allows inductive, Wireless Charging for mobile phones. Wireless Apple CarPlay and  Android Auto ensure seamless smartphone connections with the car to access several functions. The car has a Harman Kardon Surround Sound system with 16 loudspeakers.

The BMW Heads-Up Display in M Sport ‘First Edition’ projects driving-related information onto the windscreen and directly into the driver’s field of view. It employs full-colour graphics and provides a wealth of information to the driver without having to divert their eyes from the road. Parking Assistant with Rear View Camera makes parking in tight spots easier.
Reversing Assistant provides unmatched support in reversing out of a parking spot or through narrow driveways. It keeps a record of the last 50 metres driven and assists by taking over the steering. The M Sport ‘First Edition’ features surround-view cameras with 360 view including top view, panorama view and 3D view.

Lamborghini SC20: Race the roads, roofless!

Lamborghini Squadra Corse presents the SC20, a unique specimen of an open-top track car type-approved for road use. The SC20 is the second one-off engineered by the motorsport department and designed by Centro Stile in Sant’Agata Bolognese: the car was created following the customer’s wishes, who was involved in the project from the very first drawings by Lamborghini’s designers.

The common goal was to build a unique vehicle, extreme in its design and performance, and able to combine aerodynamic solutions taken from racing Lamborghinis incorporating unprecedented lines and exclusive details. “Two years after the SC18 Alston, the SC20 was a new, intriguing challenge. The chief sources of inspiration were the Diablo VT Roadster, Aventador J, Veneno Roadster and Concept S, and the result is a dramatic combination of creativity and racing attitude,” commented Mitja Borkert, Head of Design Lamborghini Centro Stile.

The carbon fibre body was polished and slicked down by hand by the Lamborghini aerodynamic engineers to deliver optimal airflow for both performance and the cockpit’s occupants, ensuring comfortable open-air driving even at high speeds. Two fins frame the pronounced front splitter, and the air intakes on the front hood are inspired by those of the Huracán GT3 EVO, while the sculpted body sides reflect the solutions adopted on the Essenza SCV12. The muscular rear is topped by a large carbon fibre wing that can be set in three different positions: Low, Medium and High Load.

The SC20 features exclusive details starting from the body colours on a Bianco Fu (white) base, created for the customer, on which the Blu Cepheus (blue) livery stands out. The same shade is found in the interior, alternating with Nero Cosmus (black) and Bianco Leda (white). The most significant element of the passenger compartment is the visible carbon fibre used for the dashboard cover, rear wall, door panels, centre console and steering wheel trim, in addition to the monocoque. ‘

Carbon fibre is also used for the shells of the seats upholstered in Alcantara and leather. The door handles, on the other hand, are machined from solid aluminium. Lastly, the air vents are created using 3D printing technology at the Sant’Agata Bolognese factory.

Maurizio Reggiani, Chief Technical Officer of Automobili Lamborghini, stated, “The SC20 is a combination of sophisticated engineering, Italian craftsmanship, sportiness and advanced design. It is also an example of applying our V12 engine and carbon fibre to a radical open-top vehicle that unmistakably carries the Lamborghini DNA.”

Its engine is based on Lamborghini’s flagship V12: the 6,498 cc, naturally aspirated twelve-cylinder that delivers 760 bhp at 8,500 rpm and develops 720 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. It is managed through the optimized seven-speed Independent Shifting Rod (ISR) gearbox. The power is discharged to the ground by the four-wheel-drive system with central electronic differential, and the Pirelli PZero Corsa tires are mounted on single-nut aluminium rims, 20 inches in front and 21 inches at the rear.

Giorgio Sanna, Head of Lamborghini Motorsport, commented, “The SC20 is one more technical and styling exercise that associates Squadra Corse experience with Lamborghini design, masterfully interpreted by our Centro Stile based on the customer’s wishes, which was the focus of the project during the entire vehicle development and construction process.”

The First-Ever M8 Coupe – The Wild child of  the BMW Stable

When you get a car like the first-ever M8 Coupe, for a couple of days, what do you do? You plan a short trip. Hence we zeroed in on Alibaug since the M2M ferry ride with the M8 was an exciting proposition, and we had an invitation from my friend Devita Saraf who owns Vu Televisions for her 85-inch Armani clad TV launch. They called and she promised me we could shoot anywhere in the artistic villa where the launch was taking place. Just like you are always in search of water in the desert, we are forever looking for backdrops, clean roads to drive, and something new. So this kind of invitation was tempting and we booked our seats on the M2M ferry. But we didn’t read the finer lines, unfortunately (more of that later.) The M8 is such an exclusive car that when you go to book online amongst the choices of cars under BMW, it has everything including M2 but not M8! Anyway,  the ferry starts at 7.30 am from Mumbai to Mandwa [ port of Alibaug]  and you have to reach 30 mins earlier. That’s what we missed and then we tossed a coin and chose heads to take the roads, and heads it was. As they say, when you start your voyage, you do not return unfinished. Later, we realized the pathetic state of roads towards Alibaug will test our manoeuvring skills and mind control to the fullest and we had to pull over, measure the craters and anticipate the ground clearance with our imaginary inch tape, step back inside and glide over it, without any ground touches that is. Imagine when you are strapped inside a machine that has 600 horses under it and you are driving at 15-20 kmph for a bad patch of stretch, you will just be cursing heavens up for everything. This makes me give the judgment that the ground clearance of M8 which is 128 mm (About 5 inches) and is lesser than the Lamborghini Huracan Evo RWD which is 135mm, but slightly higher than the Ferrari  Portofino which is 120 mm can surprisingly make its way through our specially pothole-riddled Indian roads. And they say supercars are not practical!

First impressions:

Now let’s get the context: in 10-20 years when roads will be silently driven by the onslaught of electric cars, some cars will bring internal combustion engines (ICE) back from the grave. One of them is the BMW M8 Coupe. 600 HP and 750 Nm torque makes it a complete animal and also the most expensive BMW M car in the market. The M8 Coupe is a car that rides beautifully, offers plenty of usabilities, and is technically super-skilled, but still, it doesn’t thrill me as much as the 5-bench, more practical  Audi RS 7 Sportback did. But there is something about the M8 that mesmerizes you and goes beyond its shortcomings especially the rear two seats. The Exhaust noise which is an aural delight and the way it is designed, it’s a stunner of a machine, which on roads gets the “neck swivelled” attention. Also, the RS 7 has a ground clearance of 109 mm, which means there would be a bloodbath with underbelly scraped by the rough patch underneath and we could have been putting stones and sand on the roads to Alibaug. The M8 Coupe is available in the country as a completely built-up unit. The vehicle body looks more powerful, refined, and luscious with the sportiness that is typical to BMW. It is the petrol variant in the M8 lineup and is priced at ₹2.15 Crore (ex-showroom). So, if you want to buy an M8 Coupe, double-check on your accounts and obligations and don’t ever drive it to the Income-tax office which you can do with the Audi RS 7 Sportback and keep it parked there and silently gallop to 0-100 in 3.6 seconds. The M8 can do that in 3.3 seconds but won’t be a silent process.

The design:

The M8’s muscular lines are broad enough to threaten all the cars from the highway, at 4,867 mm long and 1,907 mm wide, it’s quite a large coupe, and yes, it’s weighty- 1,955 kg; it has aggressive bumpers, two exhaust pipes, new alloy wheels, and the version we were given had 20-inch profile tyres, normal is 19inch. The large, extended hood and tight-fitting roof raise its charm and grab your attention. It is available in Automatic (Torque Converter) transmission and offered in 6 colours. Gray being the most boring until you step on the pedal. It has a small number of precisely drawn lines and sweeping surfaces which is modern and aerodynamic. The slim twin LED headlights on either side of the BMW kidney grille, encapsulate the focused look reminiscent of BMW stablemates past and present.

The athletically sculpted rear wheel arches and flared shoulders flow into a powerful rear end, whose width is emphasized by vertically stacked reflectors. On the rear, there are trademark quad-pipes of all full-M models and a gloss black rear overskirt.

Inside the M8:

The interior design is a harmonious blend of racing flair and luxury ambience. The M8’s every little part is luxurious as you’d expect from a 2-Crore car. But it will also remind you that the newly launched 2 series also has the same interiors and the instrument cluster, which is where I have a problem. In a flagship car, you need flagship interiors and not homogenous interiors which cut across all range of cars. Period.

In trademark M style, there are red strokes on the start/stop button and the M leather steering wheel’s M buttons. The interior also features an eye-catching cutout with integrated “waterfall” lighting for additional emphasis. The standard interior trim strips in Carbon Fibre also accentuate the high-performance models’ sportscar feel.

The M Sport seats, M leather steering wheel, M specific displays in the instrument cluster, and ergonomically optimized arrangement of all controls give the driver everything they need to enjoy an exciting driving experience. An interactive head-up display and a 12.3-inch device cluster; While the dual-zone climate control, an easy-to-use 10.25-inch infotainment screen, and Harman Kardon 16-speaker audio system will keep you smiling. Apple CarPlay, No Android – Again strange, SiriusXM with HD Radio, a 32GB drive, two USB ports, and WiFi with voice-activated navigation is available as standard. Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system is optionally available only with the flagship model, which is the one we had.

It has only 6 colours of ambient lighting, and none of them suits its two-tone interior. The position of the USB cable port is a little bit awkward when the USB is connected with some other device, it’s not easy to get your phone back from the wireless charging pad, it snugs most of the time.

The M Mode button on the centre console making its debut in the new BMW M8 Coupe can be used to alter both the responses of the driver assistance systems and the information shown in the instrument cluster and Head-Up Display. A simple press of the M Mode button engages the SPORT setting, in which the active driver assistance systems now can transmit alerts on speed limits and overtaking restrictions.

The digital drive display is not visually clear and sometimes you miss the much-needed information because of its dark tone nature and satellite navigation is not as accurate as google maps and it can lead you to unwanted roads.

Seats:

The M8 technically has four seats, but the rear seats are supremely compromised by the slanted roofline, and a wheelbase shorter than the old M6. Alcantara and leather encapsulate all occupants, but those in the rear would prefer to sit in an Audi RS 7, and it would look like a limousine in comparison. No legroom and headroom; it’s best for toddlers or pre-teens at best! Meanwhile, the front seats are magical, the driver and front-seat passenger will have a roomy cabin space adorned with extrinsic elements and ambient lighting.

Getting in and out of the front seats is easy, indeed for the driver, as the steering wheel will automatically elevate itself out of the way of your knees when you unlock the door or shut off the engine. Sweet.

The Boot:

It offers 420 litres of boot space and comes along with Automatic tailgate operation of the tailgate as standard. The trunk in the M8 is simply huge for this class and can swallow a pair of suitcases. In the cabin, the glovebox will easily contain a few necessary things, and the door cards can fit a couple of water bottles. There are a pair of cupholders in the centre console and another two slots in the back seating area.

Performance- It’s a wild child:

The M8’s 4.4-litre V8 is identical to the one found in the M5, and a development of the motor from the M850i, housing a pair of turbochargers within the V of the engine’s banks, improving responsiveness and shortening consumption and exhaust piping. The first-ever model draws the potential for its outstanding performance from the most powerful engine. The high-revving V8 unit with M TwinPower Turbo technology develops 441 kW/600 HPin the all-new BMW M8 Coupe, with 600 HP, acceleration in any gear, at any speed, is powerful and smooth. The high and rich performance power unit teams up with an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, and the engine’s power is channelled to the road via the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system.

The default mode in the M8 is the four-wheel-drive, which is good for maximum traction and control driving, but the four-wheel-drive sport mode turns M8 into a more wicked car. Here, the system transfers the maximum slice of the engine power to the rear wheels and which is what you need for control drifting, but when you deactivate the DCS mode that’s when it allows you to convert this into a ballistic rear-wheel-drive and converts the M8 into a monster.

The usual M8 also features dynamic damper control to soak up road imperfections and pockmarks, brake drying for increased wet-weather stopping power, brake-fade compensation, and cornering brake control systems alongside a standard active differential that takes more than just available grip into account to get the big-body coupe through turns more efficiently.

The engine stock is distributed between the front and the rear wheels, and it is fully variable using the transfer case electronically controlled multi-plate clutch before the active m differential splits it again between the two rear wheels as appropriate. It’s a four-wheel-drive, a rear-wheel-drive, and front-wheel-drive all rolled into one for a better drift, glide, and rev.

The new chassis technology clubbed with BMW M xDrive offers the variable distribution of the drive torque between the front and rear wheels. It also helps in optimized friction and driving durability depending on road surfaces. Overall, this is a brilliant and spacious powerboat, just not an analogue sprinter, and can manage Indian roads better than the RS 7.

The Last Words:

The First-Ever M8 Coupe is an exciting package, you can only have it with other cars in your garage and not just the solo one. It scores over the RS 7 on ground clearance and performance on road and is quicker than the RS 7 with an exhaust noise which is an aural delight. But the RS 7 is a practical performance car, 5-bench and you can just have one car parked in your garage and live your daily life.

Lamborghini hits the 10th ton!

Italian supercar manufacturer Automobili Lamborghini has set yet another benchmark in the automobile industry. In nine years, the company’s Sant’Agata Bolognese factory has produced 10,000 Aventadors. The car with chassis number 10,000 is an Aventador SVJ Roadster in Grigio Acheso (grey) color with Rosso Mimir (red) livery and Ad Personam interior in Rosso Alala (red) and black. The car is destined for the Thai market.

Among its long list of features and technological marvels, its highlight is its “single shell” carbon fiber monocoque produced in the Sant’Agata Bolognese factory. It combines the cockpit, floor, and roof of the car in a single structure, ensuring extremely high structural rigidity and thus the maximum performance in terms of dynamic behavior and passive safety. How can we forget the iconic upward-opening doors, similar to those of the legendary Countach and the V12 models that followed it?

A new high-performance V12 engine was developed for the Aventador LP 700-4: with 700 HP (515 kW) of power at 8,250 rpm, it set a new benchmark in the world of super sports cars at the time of its introduction, enabling exceptional acceleration of 2.9 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h and a top speed of 350 km/h.

This mammoth engine is mated to an ISR robotized transmission that guarantees thrilling ultra-fast shifts, while the push-rod suspension system offers driving precision comparable to that of racing cars.

The Aventador range debuted in 2011 in the coupé version as Aventador LP 700-4. Thanks to the new technological solutions introduced, it immediately became a new point of reference in the world of super sports cars.

In 2019, a one-off Aventador S by Skyler Grey was unveiled, a symbol of the fusion of two concepts of art. On one hand, there is Lamborghini’s automotive art, where the unique design of the forms, always characterized by taut lines, three-dimensional volumes, geometries, and stylistic elements of the past, is joined with pioneering technological solutions. On the other hand, Skyler Grey used the main techniques of street art – airbrushing, spray guns, rollers, and stencils – to personalize the car body in his typical Pop style in orange and yellow. The car was painted in three weeks in Lamborghini’s new paint shop. Despite the high level of complexity of the work, the artist, with the support of the team, brought to life the first street-legal work of art on four wheels.

Take the Smart route with JK Tyre!

Have you considered a future without smart technology? It is impossible to do so. In fact, your future version will be a lot smarter than you and probably be using much more advanced technology than any of us right now. How many times have you been stuck in the middle of a long drive when your tyre just went flat? Haven’t we all faced the frustration of having a flat tyre in the middle of nowhere? Well, JK tyre, one of the leading manufacturers of tyres in India, came up with a solution that assists us in the maintenance of tyres and increases their life span as a result.

The Smart Tyre technology from JK Tyre provides the driver with real-time information such as the pressure and temperature inside a tyre, the behaviour etc, at their disposal anytime, anywhere, on their smartphones. The company launched TREEL sensors, a smart-tyre technology claimed to be the first-ever in India, at the Auto-Expo that was held in Delhi, this year. The ‘Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)’ is an electronic system designed to monitor the air pressure inside the pneumatic tyres on various types of vehicles.

Commenting on the occasion, Dr Raghupati Singhania, Chairman & Managing Director said, “JK Tyre has always been at the forefront of innovation and technology. Being the market leaders in the Indian tyre industry, we have once again lived up to our leadership role by delivering ‘Smart Tyre’ – an extension to our promise of providing advanced mobility solutions to our customers. This technology provides an enhanced value proposition to vehicle owners, particularly fleets, by reducing their operational costs. Along with this, we have also showcased our new range of concept tyres here at the Auto Expo we have a roadmap laid in front of us, as we plan to move ahead with a number of new products including some breakthrough innovations this year.”

Almost 75% of tyres on Indian roads are not inflated to the required extent, eventually resulting in accidents, accelerated tyre wear, tyre bursts and low mileage. Smart Tyre technology tells the driver about the health of the tyres and enhances the safety and performance of your personal vehicles. The information is collected by the monitoring system connected to your smartphone via Bluetooth. It can be accessed via a mobile application named TREEL CARE or on the web page. It helps in the detection of the problem and allows the user to rectify it in time. The app is user-friendly and can store data of up to 10 cars or even bikes.

The valves that come along with the sensors are fitted in the rim of each tyre. The app eventually shows the pressure in each tyre. It also flashes when the tyre pressure is really low. The Smart Tyre technology also aids in reducing the carbon emission by delivering a higher fuel efficiency up to 4-5%. Along with this, it’ll also help in reducing maintenance costs, and give a better diagnosis of the engine.

The Smart Tyre technology is compatible with cars, bikes and trucks/buses. It is available in three variants for cars- Smart Tyre Sensor Car Kit: Valve, MTrac Smart Sensor Car & Truck Kit: Valve and MPower Smart Sensor Car Kit: Valve. Similarly, it is available in two variants for bikes- Smart Tyre Sensor Bike Kit: Belt and MTrac Smart Sensor Bike Kit: Belt. An advanced set of these sensors is accompanied by a connecting rod, which tracks vehicle engine health, real-time speed, fuel levels and the live location of the vehicle. Every car kit includes 5 sensors and every bike kit includes 2 sensors.

TREEL Sensors are currently commercially available at more than 700 dealerships across India and JK Tyre plans to sell the technology online via an exclusive e-commerce sales channel to end customers. Buying a car with real-time monitoring systems isn’t expensive anymore. You can easily install the smart tyres on any vehicle at a very affordable price!

The ENYAQ iV 80X will offer 195 kW of power, while the downright sporty RS will deliver 225 kW. The most dynamic version will accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds and have a top speed of 180 km/h. Both four-wheel-drive versions will have a maximum range of 460 kilometres.

The generous interior space of the ENYAQ iV is attributed to the MEB platform, which houses the traction battery in the vehicle’s floor. This leaves maximum possible room for the occupants. The 585-litre luggage compartment is proof that the car is also sufficient for most purposes. As a result, the ŠKODA ENYAQ iV will be both a dynamic and a practical electric vehicle.

Norbert Weber, head of interior design at ŠKODA says, “ The new design concept of the ENYAQ iV combines spaciousness and a ‘lounge feeling’. Instead of the usual equipment lines and numerous additional options, we are offering our new Design Selections in the ENYAQ iV for the first time. These are reminiscent of modern living environments, featuring perfectly coordinating colours and materials.”

At 4,648 millimetres long and 1,877 wide, the electric ENYAQ iV SUV will be slightly smaller than the standard ŠKODA KODIAQ. But its height of 1,618 millimetres is a clear sign that the ENYAQ iV will have more dynamic qualities. Even so, buyers of the first electric SUV from ŠKODA can look forward to a spacious interior that gives the impression of a living room. This is underlined by the new interior concept: customers can choose from various versions and ŠKODA, for the first time in a mass-produced car, is using sustainable materials like leather tanned with an olive extract.

Charging capacity will be up to 125 kW, which will make it possible to charge the battery from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in just forty minutes. The company is expected to reveal the price range for the e-SUV tomorrow, though it is expected to start from Rs 28 lakhs (ex-showroom). Deliveries should begin by 2021 across the world.

Fancy electric vehicles? Check out ŠKODA’s latest entry!

Who said electric cars aren’t fun to drive? Well, Czech car manufacturer is all set with it’s brand new ENYAQ iV to bust that myth, if anybody considers as such. The world premiere of the first all-electric SUV ŠKODA ENYAQ iV takes place in Prague on 1 September 2020. With an all-new exterior design, the enterprise is ready to set new benchmarks in the industry.

ŠKODA ENYAQ iV is the first ŠKODA based on the Volkswagen Group’s modular electrification toolkit (MEB), featuring sculptural lines, clear surfaces and crystalline elements that draw inspiration from Bohemian crystal art. The Czech brand’s exterior design head, Karl Neuhold, claims ENYAQ iV features proportions that “differ from previous SUV models,” and that the car’s shorter front end and longer roofline creates a very dynamic look and transforms it into a “proverbial space shuttle.” The ENYAQ iV is 4648 mm long and 1877 wide, slightly smaller than the standard ŠKODA KODIAQ. However, with a height of 1618 mm, it is expected to have dynamic qualities and spacious interiors. Also, the large wheels and ground clearance give it the powerful presence of an SUV.

“The ENYAQ iV embodies all ŠKODA’s virtues and strengths in one vehicle and is an important step towards a sustainable future for the company. It combines spaciousness, versatility and clever ideas and incorporates surprising, smart features. It is suitable for families, people with active lifestyles and long-distance driving, making it the perfect companion for every day”, says Karl Neuhold.

Just like the exteriors, the interior is also designed in the most progressive and dynamic manner. It gives a fleeting impression of a spacious living room. Along with this, ŠKODA, for the first time in a mass-produced car, is using sustainable materials like leather tanned with olive extract. It has a 585-liter luggage compartment and thanks to the MEB, the traction battery is fitted into the vehicle’s floors.

The highlight is the ŠKODA grille, different for all the electric vehicles launched by ŠKODA~ a proof of the brand! You can’t miss the full-LED matrix headlights and daytime running lights either!

This electric-wonder is available in various design versions: rear-wheel and all-wheel drive, with three different battery capacities and five performance versions. The ŠKODA ENYAQ iV 50 will be available with a battery capacity of 55kWh, a 109 kW electric motor mounted on the rear axle delivering a range of up to 340 km/charge.  Another one will be the ŠKODA ENYAQ iV 60 with a 132 kW electric motor and a 62 kWh battery. This version will have a range of up to 390 kilometers.

However, if long-road-trips are your forte, you might need the ŠKODA ENYAQ iV 80 with the biggest range available of 500 kilometers. This trim has an 82 kWh battery capacity and a 150 kW electric motor. Along with these, the two four-wheel-drive versions will also have the highest-capacity battery and a second electric motor at the front in addition to the one on the rear axle.

With a top speed of 180 km/h, the ŠKODA ENYAQ iV 80X will deliver 195 kW of power, while the downright sporty RS will deliver 225 kW. Both four-wheel-drive versions will have a maximum range of 460 kilometers. Charging capacity will be up to 125 kW, which means that you can charge your SUV in just 40 minutes! The company is expected to reveal the price range as its launch date approaches.
