OnePlus Nord Watch Specifications Revealed

It was just last week that OnePlus teased the budget Nord Watch. Players like RealMe and Noise have already paved their way in the budget smartwatch category and it’s now time for OnePlus to take the market by storm. The company had already launched a number of products in the Indian market this year like the OnePlus 10T and Nord wired earphones, it looks like the Nord lineup will now be extended with the OnePlus Nord Watch. Check out all the details about the upcoming smartwatch below:

OnePlus Nord Watch

Currently, OnePlus has two offerings when it comes to smart wearables. The company offers the premium OnePlus Watch which is priced at Rs 14,999 and the entry-level OnePlus Band which is priced at Rs 1499. It looks like the company is trying to chart the gap between the OnePlus Nord Watch which is expected to be priced in the budget category, likely between Rs 5K to 8K. The device currently has a product page on OnePlus’ official website which has revealed a number of details about the upcoming project.

According to the OnePlus Nord Watch product page, the device will come with a 45.2mm (1.78″) AMOLED display. The display will have a high resolution of 338×448 coupled with 500 nits peak brightness. This will allow the device’s display to be comfortably visible under direct sunlight. While the display is definitely impressive, the refresh rate will be clocked at 60Hz which can be a deal breaker for some. On the software side, users will be able to choose between 100+ watch faces and 105 sports modes. The OnePlus Nord Watch will be revealed on September 28, 2022, according to the company’s official website.

According to reports, the smartwatch will offer up to 10 days of battery life. The device will also come equipped with women’s health tracking features. It will have support for both iOS and Android as one would expect. Reports suggest furthermore that it will be available in two color options, Midnight Black and Deep Blue. It looks like the company is prepared to shake the budget smartwatch segment with the OnePlus Nord Watch.

NASA is about to crash a spacecraft into an asteroid… but why?

There are countless sci-fi movies in pop culture which showcase a forcefield protecting a planet from enemy attack. Even the finale of the Harry Potter films had all the teachers and students casting a spell to protect Hogwarts with the help of a forcefield from Voldemort’s attacks. While the concept is surely interesting as it can in theory protect Earth from asteroids or an alien attack, as unbelievable as that sounds, NASA has a different idea to protect our planet.

Project DART

An asteroid peacefully charting its course in outer space is going to get rocked by a visitor from Earth.  NASA’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) spacecraft is set to collide with Dimorphos, a small asteroid orbiting a larger space rock, Didymos. The two space rocks do not hold any immediate threat to Earth but NASA is testing out a system that could possibly be used for planetary defense in the future. Space enthusiasts will be happy to note that NASA will be live streaming this event on its official YouTube channel. Check it out – HERE

The physics of the mission sounds straightforward; hit an object with force to change its course, but the execution? Not so much. The spacecraft has been on a 10-month journey, traveling over 11 million kilometers from Earth. The DART spacecraft needs to automatically lock into Dimorphos and adjust its trajectory to hit it. The spacecraft has to do ALL of this while moving at a speed of 24,000 Kilometers per hour. On the other hand, it is still unclear how the asteroid will react to the hit. How DART will hit the asteroid, depending on its own shape, size, and composition will determine the outcome of the hit.

How Dimorphos reacts to the hit will make humankind understand the nature of asteroids and our impact to change their course. In the future, this information can be used to plan planetary defense plans for a possible asteroid hit. Doesn’t it sound something exactly out of a sci-fi flick?

Apple to resolve iOS 16’s camera shaking and copy-paste bug soon

Apple found itself in troubled waters when a number of issues in the latest lineup of the iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max and the iOS 16 update were found. We had reported that users were facing a camera shaking issue using third-party apps, whereas, iOS 16’s copy-paste popup was another bug irritating users. It is now revealed that Apple’s new iOS 16 operating system is all set to receive a significant update which fixes the first set of bugs.

Apple to fix iOS 16 bugs

Apple recently confirmed to Bloomberg that it will be releasing a software update to fix the camera shake affecting iPhone 14 pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models. Recently, users started sharing videos on social media showcasing that the iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max models were facing camera shaking issues while using it on third-party apps like Snapchat and Instagram. The native Apple camera app was working fine but it was only during third-party app usage is when the issue popped up.

Some users were convinced that this is a hardware issue with the new phone, however, they will now be able to fix it by simply installing a software update. it is expected that the update will be rolled out next week. It seems that the issue is rooted in the firmware that controlled Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) system in the lenses. An audible rattling sound was also present from inside the camera module, whereas, the video output would be a shaky mess.

Apple had previously also acknowledged the copy-paste bug in the latest iOS 16. Users were being asked again and again if they want to give a certain app access to the clipboard. The company’s aim in adding the option was to protect user privacy but it surely didn’t work out as planned. It looks like these issues did not come forward during Apple’s internal and beta testing. However, the iOS 16.2 update will address both these issues and send a quick fix.

Apple users face another iOS 16 bug with copy-paste feature

It was only yesterday when we shared that the latest iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max users are facing a camera issue with third-party apps. The latest iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max models are going through a shaky phase as its camera is shaking and making a grinding sound while trying to use Instagram, Snapchat and other third-party applications. The videos of the shaky camera had just started making the rounds and now another bug has been reported in the latest iOS 16. Users are now reporting that they are facing an annoying copy-paste prompt on iOS 16. Read below to know more:

iOS 16 copy-paste bug

In iOS 16, a new prompt has started to appear which seems to be related to privacy and security reasons. Whenever a user wants to paste something from one app to another, the following app now must ask for permission to access the clipboard. Users cannot paste content from one app to another without giving clipboard permission to the apps. While this seems like a good addition by Apple to increase security, it is coming off as an annoyance for users. Besides, some users are reporting that they are getting the permission prompt even after giving access to the apps, which for sure is annoying.

The bug comes after Apple had advertised its new feature of allowing users to copy text straight from videos. An email was sent by a MacRumours reader to Apple CEO Tim Cook and Craig Federighi, the senior vice president of software engineering at Apple. While there was no reply from the two heads, a senior manager at Apple, Ron Huang, replied to the email stating that the company will get to the bottom of this issue. The email reply also added that the copy-paste bug is definitely not something that the company expected. According to Huang, the tech giant had not faced the copy-paste bug during its internal testing.

The copy-paste bug in iOS 16 also comes right after some users reported that the battery percentage indicator was not working for them. After installing iOS 16 on any iPhone with Face ID, users can make the battery percentage in the status bar in theory. However, that was not the case with the iPhone XR. iPhone 11, iPhone 12 and 13 mini. The devices did not receive this feature and are currently waiting for the same. It is expected that the iOS 16.1 beta update will bring this feature to the mentioned devices.

First iPhone 14 Pro Bug Found as Users Complain of Shaking Camera

The iPhone 14 lineup was recently launched during Apple’s ‘Far out’ event and the devices have now started reaching people who pre-booked the devices. Users who were first to jump onto the bandwagon of the latest iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max have now been taken back by a surprise. In today’s social media savvy generation, It is expected of people to download apps like Instagram and Snapchat in order to share stories, posts and more. However, users who are using the new iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max were left baffled when they witnessed the new devices having an uncontrollable lens movement. Read below to know more;

iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max Lens Movement

Several videos posted across social media by users of the newly launched iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max showcase the device having a strange issue. The users shared that their iPhone 14 Pro camera shakes and makes an audible grinding sound when trying to use it on third-party apps like Instagram, Snapchat, and more. Luke Miani, a reputed Apple YouTube content creator was one of the first to share this issue on his Twitter. In the linked video, you can see that the iPhone 14 Pro Max camera vibrates when using Snapchat also making a buzzing/rattling sound. This will be the first time Apple’s cameras have faced such a bug. In a different Tweet, Luke also shared another video of the device encountering the same issue.

As of now, the bug is only limited to third-party apps and not iPhone’s Camera App, which is definitely a relief! It can be assumed that this is not Apple’s hardware issue but something that can be solved through software updates specifically for the iPhone 14 Pro. On the other hand, it is not confirmed whether Apple itself is aware of the bug as it is fairly new. Affected users will have to wait for a near-future fix before they can use the third-party app camera option in the iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max models.

NASA and Google Collaborate to Track Air Pollution in Real-Time

The problem of pollution, especially, air pollution is one of the biggest challenges for governments across the world. According to WHO, 7 million people in the world die due to air pollution. In order to tackle this serious issue, Google and NASA have joined hands to develop advanced machine learning-based algorithms that can generate high-resolution air quality maps in real-time.

Real-Time Air pollution Tracking

NASA announced the collaboration with Google in an official post. The new algorithm aims to link NASA data with Google Earth Engine data streams in order to achieve the feat of delivering real-time air pollution maps. “We’re thrilled about our partnership with NASA to make daily air quality more actionable at a local level,” said Rebecca Moore, director at Google Earth, Earth Engine and Outreach at Google. “Environmental insights, like high resolution air quality maps, can be useful tools for cities and community organizations who can take action on climate and health in their neighborhoods,” Moore said. “This scientific research partnership with NASA will help us improve the resolution, validation and the usefulness, of air quality maps in both space and time — giving everyone more data for decisions towards cleaner air”

NASA and Google had signed a 2-year Annex Agreement only back in July 2022. The agreement aims upon enhancing NASA’s science data discovery, usability and accessibility through the storage and sharing of data on the Google Cloud Platform and the Google Earth Engine. To accomplish real-time air pollution maps, Google has added two new NASA data sets to the Earth Engine Catalogue. These data sets are updated automatically on a daily basis.

NASA is currently working to develop machine-learning algorithms in the Google Earth Engine to identify the connections between the newly added data and data from Google’s Street View. “This partnership is a major step forward in integrating air pollution data from a range of critical sources, from ground-level observations to satellite data, into advanced machine learning algorithms,” said Pawan Gupta, senior scientist with Universities Space Research Association (USRA) at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center.
