Bold looks, big bass, and swipe gestures the Cyberstud Punk delivers more than it should for the price.

At ₹1,599, the Nu Republic Cyberstud Punk delivers way more than you’d expect from a pair of budget wireless earbuds. You get a head-turning design, surprisingly good swipe controls, thumping bass, dependable battery life, and decent noise handling.

Yes, the chain is more style than substance, and the setup could be simpler, but for the price? These are small trade-offs.

    The Good
    1. Futuristic design that stands out from the usual TWS crowd
    2. Swipe-based volume controls are smooth, responsive, and very convenient
    3. Good sound quality with punchy bass and clear vocals
    4. Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) works well in daily use
    5. Decent call quality, especially for the price
    6. Up to 70 hours of battery life, with fast-charging support
    7. Low latency mode (around 40ms) is great for casual gaming or video watching
    8. Value for money
    The Bad
    1. The metallic chain design may feel unnecessary or uncomfortable for some users
    2. Initial pairing/setup takes a bit of time to get used to
    3. Bass can overpower mids at times, depending on the genre
    4. No Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) – only ENC

The Nu Republic Cyberstud Punk isn’t just another budget TWS earbud — it’s a loud, unapologetic statement. With a design that demands attention, gesture-based controls, and a bass-forward audio signature, these earbuds are built for those who want more than just function. But are they all style and no substance? Here’s my hands-on experience.

Design: Edgy, Unique.. and Slightly Impractical

The case of the cyberstud punk

Let’s start with the most striking aspect: the design. The Cyberstud Punk earbuds come housed in a transparent case with sharp, angular accents and, wait for it, a metallic chain. Yes, it’s a bold, fashion-forward attempt that channels punk and cyber aesthetics. And to its credit, it does stand out in a sea of similar-looking true wireless earbuds.

The chain with the cyberstud punk

But the chain? It’s a bit of a gimmick. While it leans into the “wearable tech” trend, I personally found it more awkward than useful. It doesn’t add real functionality, and most users will likely ditch it after the novelty wears off. That said, the earbuds themselves fit comfortably, look slick in-ear, and the case feels solid for the price point.

Controls: Swipe Gestures That Actually Work

Here’s where the Nu Republic Cyberstud Punk really impressed me. The swipe and tap controls for volume are not only intuitive but also surprisingly responsive. A swipe left decreases volume, swipe right increases it no need to fumble for your phone. This kind of implementation is rare even in higher-end models.

And yes, voice assistant support like Siri works well too, so whether you’re on iOS or Android, you’re covered.

Sound Quality: Bass-First, But Still Balanced

With 13mm drivers and Nu Republic’s X-Bass tech, the sound profile is clearly designed for those who love their beats with a punch. These are definitely bass-heavy earbuds, but I found the mids and highs remained reasonably clear. Vocals aren’t lost in the mix, and the soundstage is engaging enough for casual listeners.

No, they won’t please audiophiles, but for Spotify playlists, YouTube videos, and gaming on the go? They’re more than capable.

Noise Cancellation & Call Quality: Functional, Not Fancy

Unlike more expensive earbuds with Active Noise Cancellation, the Cyberstud Punk sticks to Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC). It’s basic, but it works. On calls and in crowded environments, background noise is reduced enough to keep conversations clear.

During testing, call quality was consistent not studio-grade, but perfectly serviceable for Zoom calls or voice chats on the move.

Connectivity: Smooth Once You Get the Hang of It

Powered by Bluetooth 5.3, these earbuds offer a stable connection with low latency. Once paired, switching between tasks like music, calls, or gaming mode (with 40ms latency) is seamless. When I tried connecting at first it did take a while but later it was smooth to connect did not have any such problems.

Battery Life: One of the Best at This Price

Here’s a standout feature. The Cyberstud Punk claims 70 hours of total playback with the case and during my usage, it easily stretched across days without charging. What I personally loved the most is that a quick 10-minute charge gives you up to 3 hours of playback which is perfect for those last-minute top-ups before heading out so you do not face any problems.
