The OPPO Find X8 Ultra stands out in 2025 with its impressive Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, powerful quad-camera system featuring a 1-inch main sensor, and dual telephoto lenses, setting a new standard for mobile photography. With a 6,100mAh battery and 100W charging, it promises all-day performance in a sleek design. However, it faces challenges such as limited availability outside China, a lack of a global release, and some minor software issues like a restrictive shortcut button. While thermal management is mostly effective, heavy use may lead to warming.
Is it the best flagship of 2025? Its camera system is unmatched among Androids, rivalling the vivo X200 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max and Galaxy S25 Ultra. Priced around $1,000(Rs. 1,00,000), the Find X8 Ultra offers great value for those willing to import it, positioning itself as a potential leader in the flagship market. If OPPO expands availability and refines its software, it could dominate.

The OPPO Find X8 Ultra represents the peak of OPPO’s offerings for 2025, designed to compete directly with industry leaders like Samsung, Apple, and Xiaomi. This smartphone makes a bold statement, boasting cutting-edge hardware, a refined design, and a camera system that seeks to redefine mobile photography. Equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a quad-camera setup featuring upgraded sensors, and a massive 6,100mAh battery, the Find X8 Ultra positions itself as a premium device that leaves nothing to chance. Unfortunately, the OPPO Find X8 Ultra will not be available in India. However, we managed to get our hands on a unit to experience OPPO’s latest flagship device. Does it truly live up to its ambition of being the best flagship phone of 2025? Let me share whether this smartphone is a worthy contender for the crown.
Build & Design
The OPPO Find X8 Ultra expertly combines premium aesthetics with practical ergonomics. Measuring 163.1 x 76.8 x 8.78 mm and weighing 226 g, it is impressively slim for a device that houses robust hardware, particularly its 6,100 mAh battery and impressive camera array. The phone features a glass front and back with an aluminium frame, giving it a luxurious feel. The frosted glass back panel resists fingerprints and adds a touch of elegance, while the flat-sided design ensures a comfortable grip. However, some users may find the squared-off edges less forgiving compared to the tapered designs of competitors like the Xiaomi 15 Ultra.

The standout feature of the Find X8 Ultra is its 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED display, which boasts a QHD+ resolution (1440 x 3168), a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 2,500 nits when viewing HDR content. It supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+, delivering vibrant colours and deep blacks. OPPO’s Splash Touch technology enhances usability in wet conditions, making it a practical choice for real-world use. The ultrasonic fingerprint sensor represents a significant upgrade over the optical sensor found in the Find X7 Ultra, offering faster and more reliable unlocking, similar to what we experienced with the Galaxy S10 Plus.
The camera module, while visually prominent, showcases the phone’s photographic capabilities with its circular design, which houses four 50MP lenses and a True Chroma sensor. Additionally, a dedicated haptic camera button and a customizable shortcut button have replaced the traditional alert slider, similar to Apple’s Action Button. An IP68/IP69 rating ensures the phone’s durability against water and dust.
Performance
The OPPO Find X8 Ultra is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite, a 3nm chipset that showcases OPPO’s top performance for 2025. With 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage, it offers exceptional speed for multitasking, gaming, and productivity. The chipset features an octa-core CPU, consisting of 2 cores running at 4.32 GHz (Oryon V2 Phoenix L) and 6 cores at 3.53 GHz (Oryon V2 Phoenix M), along with an Adreno GPU that ensures smooth operation, even under heavy workloads.

In Geekbench benchmarks, the Find X8 Ultra shines with approximately 3,150 points in single-core tests and around 9,693 in multi-core tests. It outperforms the MediaTek Dimensity 9400-powered Find X8 Pro and even surpasses the iPhone 16 Pro in multi-core performance. However, it falls slightly behind the iPhone in single-core tasks. Real-world performance is equally impressive, as it handles demanding games like Genshin Impact and BGMI with ease, showing no noticeable lag or stuttering.
The device runs ColorOS 15 based on Android 15, providing a polished and customizable user experience. While some China-centric apps (such as Weibo and Baidu) come pre-installed, sideloading Google services is straightforward, ensuring global usability. Features like AI Writer, AI Search, and compatibility with Apple’s AirDrop via O+ Connect enhance the phone’s functionality. However, the Breeno AI integration might feel unnecessary for users who prefer Google’s Gemini.
Camera
The camera system of the Find X8 Ultra is its standout feature, making it one of the exclusive camera phones of 2025. It boasts a quad-camera setup, each with a 50MP sensor: a 1-inch Sony LYT-900 main camera (f/1.8), a 50MP ultra-wide lens (f/2.0, 15mm), a 50MP 3x telephoto lens (f/2.1, 70mm), and a 50MP 6x periscope telephoto lens (f/3.1, 135mm). Additionally, there is a 2MP True Chroma sensor for improved color accuracy. The setup is completed with a 32MP Sony LYT-506 selfie camera.

The main camera excels in delivering exceptional detail, dynamic range, and low-light performance due to its large sensor and OPPO’s HyperTone Image Engine, which features AI tone mapping and ProXDR. Photos come out vibrant yet natural, avoiding oversaturation while maintaining accurate exposure, even in high-contrast situations. The ultra-wide lens performs impressively, capturing detailed images with minimal distortion at 15mm, though there might be slight oversaturation in some cases.
The dual telephoto lenses are a key highlight, providing versatile zoom capabilities. The 3x and 6x periscope modules produce sharp images with excellent detail retention, supporting up to 12x lossless zoom. AI-enhanced zoom allows for usability beyond 30x for capturing distant subjects. The portrait mode is particularly impressive, achieving precise separation of the subject from the background and creating natural bokeh, outperforming competitors like the iPhone 16 Pro Max in depth estimation and detail preservation.
Video performance is also robust, supporting 4K at 120fps and Dolby Vision HDR. The stabilization features are nearly gimbal-like, and the transitions between lenses are smooth with minimal colour shifting. While the iPhone 16 Pro Max has a slight advantage in video quality, the Find X8 Ultra shines in low-light video performance, capturing minimal noise and excellent shadow detail, making it a top contender among Android devices. The only minor drawback is a loss of fine detail in indoor or low-light video conditions. Overall, the camera system is a dream come true for photography enthusiasts.
Battery
The Find X8 Ultra features a remarkable 6,100mAh silicon-carbon battery, one of the largest in its category, providing exceptional battery life. This second-generation silicon-carbon technology allows for higher energy density in a slim design, surpassing competitors like the Galaxy S25 Ultra (5,000mAh) and OnePlus 13 (6,000mAh). In practical tests, the phone consistently offers multi-day battery life with moderate usage, lasting up to 30 hours and nearly six hours of screen-on time, even during heavy camera use.

In a 30-minute 4K video test, the Find X8 Ultra utilized approximately 8% of its battery, which is quite impressive. Charging is another strong point, as the 100W SuperVOOC wired charging can fully charge the device from 0 to 100% in just 35 minutes and reaches 62% in 15 minutes. Additionally, the 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging provide versatility, allowing users to easily charge accessories like earbuds. When compared to competitors like the Galaxy S25 Ultra (which charges 50% in 30 inutes), the Find X8 Ultra’s charging speed is a significant advantage.
