The way Indians searched on Google in 2025 looked very different from previous years. With artificial intelligence transforming search experiences and visual queries becoming mainstream, user behaviour evolved rapidly. According to Google, 2025 marked a major shift in how people discover information, explore content, and interact with the web.

Curiosity reached new levels as users embraced smarter, more intuitive ways to search from typing complex questions to using images and live interactions.

Visual Search Saw a Massive Boom

One of the biggest highlights of 2025 was the sharp rise in visual search. Google revealed that visual searches jumped by 70 percent globally year-on-year. India played a key role in this growth, emerging as the world’s largest user base of Google Lens on a monthly basis.

From scanning products and translating text instantly to identifying plants, places, and outfits, Indian users increasingly turned their cameras into search tools.

Adding to this transformation, Google shared that around 15 percent of searches made every day in 2025 were completely new, proving that user curiosity continues to expand with evolving technology.

AI Transforms Google Search Experience in India

AI took centre stage in 2025, reshaping how people interact with Google Search. The company introduced several powerful AI-driven upgrades, making India one of the first global markets to experience these features.

Key Google Search Updates in 2025:

    • Gemini 3 in Search:
Rolled out through AI Mode to help users solve complex questions using advanced reasoning.
    • Nano Banana Pro (Gemini 3 Pro Image):
Enabled users to visualise ideas and design anything from prototypes and infographics to creative concepts directly within Search.
    • Virtual Apparel Try-On in India:
Allowed shoppers to digitally try on clothes from billions of listings using just their smartphone cameras.

According to Google, AI has made Search “radically more helpful,” empowering users to ask questions in any format, text, voice, or visuals.

    Sports and National Events

    • The Indian Premier League (IPL) remained a dominant search trend.
    • Women’s cricket saw a breakout year in popularity.
    • The Maha Kumbh emerged as one of the most searched cultural events of the year.

    AI and Technology Trends

    • Google Gemini became the second most trending search topic in India.
    • Nano Banana emerged as a viral AI trend as users explored image-based creativity.

    Trending Personalities

    • Jemimah Rodrigues and Vaibhav Suryavanshi featured among the most searched personalities.
    • Indians also paused to honour cinema legend Dharmendra, reflecting nostalgia-driven searches.

    Practical, Real-Time Searches

Users increasingly relied on Google for urgent local information, leading to high search volumes for:

    • “Earthquake near me”
    • “AQI near me”

Travel, Pop Culture and Viral Trends

    • Emerging travel destinations like Phu Quoc gained attention.
    • The Saiyaara craze dominated entertainment searches.
    • Internet culture thrived with searches around Labubu and the viral #67 meme.

2025 Marks a New Era of Search in India

Google Search in 2025 was no longer just about keywords it became about context, visuals, creativity, and real-time problem-solving. With India leading global adoption of camera-based queries and AI-powered features, the country firmly established itself at the heart of Google’s next-generation search evolution.

From cricket stadiums to creative studios, from emergency alerts to meme culture, Google Search reflected every layer of India’s rapidly digitising lifestyle in 2025.
