Nintendo launches Smart Clock with Motion-Controlled Alarms and Sleep Tracking

Nintendo, the beloved gaming giant, has once again levelled up in the world of innovation with its latest gadget – Alarmo, a motion-controlled alarm clock designed to wake you up in true Nintendo style. Forget those mundane alarms you’ve been using – this one lets you snooze, stop, and interact with your morning wake-up routine using nothing but your movements. Yes, you read that right – you can wave your hand, extend your slumber, or get up and face the day. It’s the perfect mix of gaming fun and practical functionality that we’ve come to expect from Nintendo.

So, how does Alarmo manage to make your mornings more exciting? Let’s dive into the details. Not only does it boast motion controls, but it also features voices and music from five iconic Nintendo games: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Pikmin 4, Splatoon 3, Super Mario Odyssey, and Ring Fit Adventure. Whether you’re waking up to the peaceful tones of Hyrule or the high-energy world of Mario, Alarmo comes pre-loaded with 35 sound scenes to enhance your mornings. But here’s where it gets even better – Nintendo promises to add more beloved audio from Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Mario Kart 8 in future updates. Talk about fan service!

Using Alarmo is as simple as selecting a game title, picking a scene, and letting your favourite characters wake you up. Imagine this – just before your alarm goes off, a character from your chosen game patiently appears on the screen, as if to say, “It’s time to save the world!” or “Let’s get moving!” And if you’re not quick to rise, the alarm will ramp up in intensity, becoming louder and more persistent – Nintendo’s gentle (or not-so-gentle) nudge to get you out of bed.

But don’t worry, snoozers – with a quick hand gesture, you can delay your wake-up call. However, if you want to stop the alarm altogether, you’ll need to physically get out of bed, as Alarmo cleverly uses a motion sensor to determine your location. It’s a little bit of tough love from Nintendo – they know we all need that push sometimes!

The alarm offers two modes: Steady Mode, which amps up the intensity the longer you remain in bed, and Gentle Mode, which keeps things steady and soothing. And for the button pressers among us, there’s a classic Button Mode as well. On top of being a fun alarm, Alarmo doubles as a sleep tracker, monitoring your movements and time spent in bed.

Equipped with a 2.8-inch LCD screen, a brightness sensor, and a USB-C port for easy power-up, Alarmo is designed for beds ranging from Twin to King size, ideally placed at arm’s length. Priced at $99.99 (around ₹8,423), this delightful device will be available in early 2025 – a perfect addition to any Nintendo fan’s morning routine!
